A good tour guide is essential

Thank you for a very good tour 😀Khunchanthy was an excellent guide who gave us a great deal of information about Cambodia. He was caring and listened to what the group wanted to do. He had a great sense of humour and his English was very good.

What made this experience one of our best during this trip, was the intimacy that the guide gave use during the day. He drove us to a small fishing village near Sihanoukville where we experienced a Chinese Lunar New Year "brunch" where several families had just returned from a successful night of fishing, and were very happy to have us join them - including the fireworks. The Buddhist temple and how they actually work, very hands on in working with some of the monks, was very spiritual for my wife and I. I even got to enter their "holiest of holies" centre in the temple and got a complete traditional blessing. WE then got to help preparing and saving the lunch meal.

Our guide, Mr Chhum was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting and enjoyable. His English was excellent and we all enjoyed his lively sense of humor.

Sihanoukville Shore Excursion

This was a 16 person shore excursion tour. Our guide Tom was excellent - he was knowledgable, interesting and engaged throughout the entire tour, beginning to end. Really enjoyed the trip to the fishing village area to see a part of local life that was unique and something that would have been hard to see on our own. Least enjoyable was the trip to Waterfall; being the dry season, it was not spectacular and not worth the relatively long and bumby ride over an unpaved road to get there. The included lunch was too long.....the restaurant was not equipped to handle the 2 16 person tours that arrived at the same time. Took almost 1.5 hrs, way too long. Overall though, very good excursion.

Me. Chhum did an outstanding job showing us the city. His knowledge of the area helped us better understand the places we visited and personalized it more. Went out of his way to adapt our time to maximize our experience. A great way to see Sihanoukville! Definitely recommend if you want a great Tour Guide and itinerary for your visit!

Enjoyed the overall experience

Our tour guide was wonderful. Favorite spot was the market which was so full of life and as close to An Amazing Race TV show experience I’ve encountered. The temples were a close second. Felt very safe with a security guide joining us as well. Only issue was the stop at a five star hotel resort for the beach. Charged $20 to use the pool and a chair. The Chinese influence is evident and a lot of incomplete construction, but Sihanoukville has more to offer than unfinished buildings.

Mr S "Tysath" was very good as our tour guide. He was very proud of his country and gave excellent insight to each stop

It was all very good. And had a very diverse sets of stops. I would definitely do more trips from this company. Only problem was a last minute pickup change by email from the company which turned out to be wrong. This confused most of the people on the tour. Some even had to get transport back to original pick up spot.

Driver was friendly and flexible on timing with us and included the waterfall when we asked which was our favorite part of the trip. He was clear and easily understood and knew a lot of history.

Confused Excursion

There was a lot of confusion with this trip. The operator moved out pick up point to 2kl from the cruise ship. We walked up to the meeting place and could not find our operator. Another operator was nice enough to call our tour guide when they arrived they drove us back to the cruise ship and put us on another tour. I was not happy with this type of service. The new tour guide was very nice. But I won’t book with this group if you have a choice.

Unforgettable!

Sihanoukville was our second destination in Cambodia. We only had one day here but our guide Mr.Chum and our driver gave us a wonderful experience. We went to all places listed in the itinerary but our guide arranged our journey reasonaly, for example led us to the market first so that we can avoid crowed people. Mr.Chum is very knowledgeable and told us a lot about Sihanoukville and Cambodia. He is also very friendly, and always show big smile to us. Highly recommended.

Great Tour!

We had a tour with Mr. Chhim Chhum and driver Mr. Nara Odom of Green Era Travel. They were very accommodating, polite and friendly. Chhim spoke very good English and was very knowledgeable. Nara was ready to pick us up at the end of each site visit. The vehicle was very clean and comfortable as well. The city does not appear to have a public trash disposal system so there is litter everywhere which I hope over time they will learn to address. However the people are very happy and friendly. If you go to the fishing village make sure you take note of their fishing prayer house and learn the story of the woman in the shrine.

Disappointing Sihy

Very disappointed in this city. It’s filthy with trash and rotting food all over the walkways and streets if you can call them that. No roads are paved so the dust is horrible. Our tour guide was telling us the Cambodian government gave 4000 hectares to the Chinese for free while the Cambodian citizens have to go without as they can’t afford. The Chinese are quickly taking over. Every street you go on has a hi rise for the Chinese. The majority of the signs are also in Chinese. They’ve already opened 76 casinos. He told us gambling in Macau is now illegal so they’re calling this Little Macau. The Cambodian people very kind and of course upset about the Chinese takeover but there’s nothing they can do. Very sad.

Apologize us for not response your review immediately but your feedback was always in our mind and we definitely sorry that you did not enjoy your tour in Sihanoukville in Jan 2020 even though we provided a very good guide and best air con mini bus on your tour. Since 2019 till end of 2020, the Cambodian Government put lots of efforts and money to rebuilt all infrastructures in the city just in time when you were in Sihanoukville while they were very busy with constructing roads, electricity line, sewage system etc., so I agreed that everything were not look nice but let me inform you also all the construction projects were completed in the end of 2020 and now Sihanoukville has become the most beautiful beach city with 94% of all roads are nicely paved, fresh air, very clean with white sand beaches, well organize city as an Asian smart city in Cambodia and you can see new photos taken recently uploaded on this products. Regarding, the Chinese is also changed now after government commit on following Cambodia law but about Casinos and land offer to Chinese isn’t 100% true when the Chinese investors firstly entered Sihanoukville and they became new foreign investors, then rumors spreading in Sihanoukville like government giving land to Chinese for free, Chinese will take over but all that from civilian rumors in a different purposes and such things had disappeared right now. I agree with you there are new hi rises in the city but Sihanoukville has many nice places to see as hi rise is not something on our tours and we won’t take our guests to see hi rises either but we may drive by some parts of the city that such things will be seen in your eyes while we travel from place to place while touring Sihanoukville. There are Casinos in the city but we do not agree with people to call it Little MaCau as this is not for us at all and we do not allow to let Sihanoukville becoming a little MaCau either, we do not link Chinese branding. This place so call Sihanoukville, our beautiful beach city in Cambodia. With all these completion of the government projects in the city, we do hope all others future visitors will definitely enjoy their tours and we Green Era Travel keep doing our best to ensure all our guests from cruise ship return back to their cruise with an amazing tour experience printed a big smile on their face. Stay on the cruise boat!

This port is dirty, the dirtiest place any of us have ever seen. Trash was everywhere. The “scenic” fisherman visit was a filthy dock, fish parts and dog feces all over; and so crowded we feared being knocked off. The waterfall was almost dry, not worth the visit (and long bumpy ride) during dry season. The bus was old, cramped and uncomfortable. Our group skipped the beach after the disappointment of previous stops. Tour guide was affable and offered plenty of drinks.

Truly a Glimpse

Our day began at a small fishing pier. We saw boats and nets, but no one in the process of fishing or returning with their catch. As the day progressed, we saw many extremes...temples, a busy marketplace, a pretty waterfall (a long way down a very bumpy road), and finally lunch ( our own expense) on a lovely beach with water that was warmer than any we've felt anywhere else in the world. Our guide, chum, was very informative and pleasant to be around. He wove history, current events and culture in his narration throughout the day

What can I say. Despite the very best efforts of our guide, this was a dreadful excursion. The whole place looks and smells like a war zone which has been covered in plastic waste. Best tip, stay on ship.
