Fantastic hike! We went as a family of 5, with kids ages 11, 14 and 15 and we all enjoyed it! The hike is not hard and it has amazing views of the rainforest and volcano crater at the top. It took us about 3.5 hrs to hike up and down. Our guide, Adrian, was great! Super friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and great company. He was very professional. Our only guide of the entire trip to actually arrive on time! The home made raisin bread and ginger juice was delicious! The mountain is very clean which was very nice. It is not a hard hike, but you need full mobility and NO knee issues. Some areas of the hike are technical and need good mobility. We got rain on the way back which was fantastic as it made the forest more alive and gorgeous.

Great hike spoiled by awful guide
David_S, Nov 2023
This is a strenuous hike that is not suitable for people who have any mobility problems. But that's not what spoiled it. The walk is beautiful, but our specific guide rushed us, told us off for stopping 5 seconds to pick up litter, and finally left us and vanished. Thankfully a different guide pointed out we were about to pick the wrong path. Frankly, I thought he was drunk. So if you get another guide you'll have a wonderful time.
Beautiful rain forest HIKE (not walk!)! Great guide and experience all around.

Our guide, Adrian, was fantastic. He shared with us the history of St. Kitts as well as other Caribbean islands. His knowledge of plants/medicinal qualities was impressive and we learned about healing teas and edible parts of plants (we tasted a "fiddle head"!). Most importantly, Adrian was flexible with our trip and was a fantastic guide and support! Oh, and we got to see a green monkey in the tree canopy!
It’s a tough one!
icorrarcashman, Nov 2023
This is a very tough hike and shouldn’t be attempted unless you are in extremely good shape. I don’t see how families are able to succeed. . Adrian & John are excellent guides who are very helpful. The Volcano Bar at the end is a nice surprise!
What a experience

Excellent guide, very informative of the area and mt. Nice experience but be ready for a exercise that takes you out of your comfort zone. Nice views and serenity through the hike.
Challenging amazing hike
Keith_R, Jul 2023
Silpatrick was an amazing guide. They picked us up at the hotel- took us to the volcano in an open air vehicle. Once at the entrance he gave us all hiking sticks and water. The hike was hard but he was so patient to give us breaks as needed. The view at the top was incredible! It was worth the journey! We also had a guide at the back of our group and they both took great care of us. Highly recommend!!
Challenging but fun

Finally getting to the top and enjoying the refreshment. The guide was also very knowledgeable about the trail and the various foliage seen on the way to the top.
Painful but Awesome Time With Adrienne
Daniel_G, Jun 2023
I love hiking in the Appalachian mountains. I’ve never hiked the full AT, but I’ve gone out for days at a time, solo and with a group. This hike was nothing like anything I’ve done before. My wife had to stop about halfway, while the kids (8 & 11) and I went the rest of the way with Adrienne and the one other person in our group. I should’ve stopped when she did. It was the most grueling experience the kids and I have ever done. That being said, Adrienne, as a guide, was truly amazing. Stopping where we needed, slowing down when needed, and helping with getting some awesome pictures. It took us about 6 hours to complete the hike, and while it was beautiful and fun, it certainly showed us our limitations. We’ll worth the exhaustion, but be ready for some pain.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING HIKE —Thanks David!
Alex_W, May 2023
This was my favorite hike I have EVER done!! The tour guide David was super down to earth and such a funny guy. The rainforest was beautiful and I loved the challenge of climbing the rocks and tree roots. I would NOT recommend this for anyone with limiting mobility issues such as bad knees or back problems. It is not suitable, as the hike is not a simple walk in the park. I had an intense surgery on my leg two years so it is generally weaker, but I exercise regularly and had no issues! I loved it. My 23 y/o brother and I (20y/o) did it together. Prepare to get muddy & for a potential rain storm. It started down pouring on our descent down, and it made all the rocks very slippery… but it made it more fun! If you love nature, a challenge, and a good time DO THIS YOU WON’T REGRET IT! However, know yourself and your body… this hike is a challenge, but it is an absolute blast. It’s all about the mindset! Stay positive and take it slow on difficult parts :D
Challenging, but worth it

Adrian was our guide, and he was great with assisting us up and down the mountain - he has a gift for motivating people and bringing out the best. He is extremely knowledgeable and shared a lot of information about trees, plants, and animals during the hike. The hike itself was quite challenging. Probably the most difficult hike any of the four of us have done due to how technical it is. Our average age is 56, so we are not spring chickens. Three members of the group are in good or decent physical condition (I am not, sadly), and we were all quite tired at the end, and sore the next day. Fortunately, it was dry when we went. I do not understand how a person could do this safely if it was wet. All of that being said, I would recommend this to anyone who feels up to the challenge. The four of us are proud of ourselves for completing this hike. Recommendations - bug spray might be a good idea. Also, bring extra water if you think you will need it. It is warm during the hike. Sunscreen is not needed. You are hiking under the canopy of trees pretty much the entire way.
Great hike, great guide!

My wife and I were keen to hike the volcano and debated whether or not to get a guide or just do it ourselves, but we were very glad we opted to get a guide in the end. We had Adrian as a guide and he was absolutely fantastic at bringing the trail to life - he's been hiking the trail since he was 11 years old and he was full of things to share about the local flora and fauna (we were lucky enough to see monkeys!) and also shared lots of interesting stories about the island and himself. The trail itself was lots of fun, definitely fairly technical and requires scrambling over roots and rocks to get to the summit but all worth it for a unique trip through the rainforest for a unique view at the top. This is only day of our trip but I have a feeling it will be one of our highlights!

Adrian was very knowledgeable of the environment. We enjoyed learning about the nature while making our climb.
Wild and wonderful day

We had an amazing hike with Adrienne. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the plants and trees that we saw. He was also kind and fun. The hike was hard but he got us all the way up and all the way down safely. I would absolutely recommend him as your guide. Bring hiking shoes!!
Great!

This was a really challenging hike, and we go hike 14’ers every year. It’s not undoable by any means, but it was definitely harder than I expected…it’s not a stroll in the jungle! The guides were fantastic (Adrian was MADE to do this!), and over all it was a great diversion from the sun.
Rainy trail and poor guide
Jacqueline_H, Mar 2023
I was the only tourist on my hike due to a mixup on the time from the previous day. My “guide” was often so far in front of me that I could not see him. It rained most of the time that we were on the trail and I decided to end my hike before reaching the volcano because of my fear of how slippery it could get going back down the trail with even more rain coming.
Thumbs up
Mark_G, Mar 2023
View from the rim was amazing. The guide was great. very friendly. It was strenuous but not undoable.
Volcano Bar on the return...
Robert_J, Mar 2023
Volcano Bar on the return was refreshing and the bartender was fun. Our guides were great and informative.
A great hiking experience with our guide Adrian
Alice_J, Feb 2023
A great hiking experience with our guide Adrian. If you fancy a physical challenge while you are on the Island then I would recommend this. The view (and refreshments) at the top were very welcome. Adrian’s knowledge of the flora and fauna were a bonus.
concerning trip
lesley_h, Feb 2023
I completed this trip on Monday 13th February, I am a fit woman used to walking long distances and on different terrains in the UK. Adrian was rushing us up the forest and the volcano from the start, each time we stopped he said it could only be for two minutes. There were no refreshments apart from a bun and some lemonade- I had to ask to receive more than one glass. Adrian told me he had left his phone in the van. Another woman on the trip told Adrian clearly that she could not go any quicker than she was going, she felt rushed - he was constantly walking way ahead and referencing the time. It was pouring with rain on the way to the forest. It poured with rain coming down from the volcano and through the forest. The weather should have been checked before the walk. This is not a walk for even experienced walkers, in the rain. I slipped and subsequently learnt I had broken my ankle. This is a complaint about the conduct of the guide.
Exhausting but amazing!

This hike is a major accomplishment that you'll be proud of for the rest of your life. It is by no means easy and the terrain is incredibly difficult to climb both up and down. We did complete the hike in under 4 hours when on average it usually takes at least 5 hours, this may have been a huge factor into why it felt so ridiculously difficult. However, the heat and humidity are also a massive part of why it's such a challenge, we were all (except the guide) dripping in sweat. My boyfriend and I completed this hike whilst on a cruise and booked independently with Poinciana Tours so naturally we were concerned about arriving back on time, however we had completed the hike and were back at the cruise port just before 2:30. The drive to the volcano is about 40 minutes each way and is in a really awesome safari style mini bus. I wouldn't recommend this hike for anyone who isn't fit and healthy, I would also suggest walking long distances regularly before you attempt this hike as the incline and terrain makes this way harder than normal. There were only four of us in the group the day we hiked which I think made the experience much more enjoyable than if you were in a larger group and the guide was friendly and very knowledgable telling us not only factual information but also his experiences from his years climbing the volcano. We saw monkeys and the view at the top was spectacular and definitely made the exhaustion feel worth while. It rained on our way down which made the mud incredibly slippery so I would recommend wearing some footwear with a decent grip. My muscles ached for days after this hike so if you need to walk any stairs in the following days it may be a rather painful experience. I would definitely recommend both this hike and Poinciana Tours if you're wanting an unforgettable experience and wish to complete a climb that you'll forever feel very proud of.
