Tangier in the rain was still enjoyable
Bill_G, May 2024
The tour guide and his driver picked us up and drove us all over the city. They told us a lot about the history and the many cultures in Tangier. It was raining most of the time so we didn’t get many great views. We walked around the Medina in the rain and visited a few shops. By the time we made it to the casbah the sun was shining and all the shops were open. If you only have 1 day it’s worth it to maximize your time here and see as much as you can. I
This private tour is the best way to start your Tangier visit, we LOVED our guides!
Josh_W, Mar 2024
If you are visiting Tangier, you absolutely NEED to book this tour! The country is beautiful but requires some specific local knowledge that you can only get from this tour. For example, how to interact with shoppers, how to get cash, where the best sights are, restaurant recommendations, and where else to go in the country. The tour was excellent! We had a driver AND a tour guide who both spoke fluent English. The first half of the tour was a drive through the city and the second half was a walking tour. The entire experience was private and dedicated just to us. The guides were very accommodating, friendly, helpful, informative, and had an excellent itinerary. They were willing to adjust the itinerary to fit our desires and make extra stops as needed. There were many opportunities for pictures and they were willing to take pictures of us so we could be together. For more information on some of the stops during the tour: During driving tour through the city, the driver and the tour guide gave us information about different sites and the history of the country. One of our first stops was at Perdicaris park. The next stop was at a lighthouse and we also stopped at the point where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic ocean. There was a camel ride included with this tour. Our next stop was at the cave of Hercules. We then started the walking tour and started at the fish and produce market. We visited several stores. The first place was very large and had a lot of beautiful rugs. We had lunch at a place recommended by our guide which was delightful (we visited during Ramadan and they made sure there were adequate food choices for us). Our last stop was at a pharmacy. There was a man who owned the shop and explained all of his products to us. Overall, it was an incredible visit through Tangier. If you only have one day to spend here, this is the perfect way to fit many things into one day. THANK YOU for a wonderful experience, a memorable adventure, and being super friendly and caring with new travelers!
Tangier in a Day
Clint_K, Mar 2024
Our guide, and driver were wonderful. By happenstance, we were outside in the rain for the walking portion of the day. It was a quick paced tour, with some “touristy” sales stops. But outside of that, we saw the authentic Medina of Tangier, from markets to places of worship. We were so glad we did it
We Felt Like Family!

‘Latif Tours’ driver Abdul and tour guide Magid picked us from the port and we spent a wonderful and pleasant day together. We were treated like family and were not rushed to get items completed. Both shared information about Tangier and Magid vividly recalled important historical facts about his city. They both gave pointers about other parts of Morocco that are on our itinerary, before taking us to our hotel.
Do this tour! Well worth it!!!!
Jon_B, Oct 2023
Sights, sounds, smells and tastes in the market were amazing. Our guide Abdelmajid was knowledgeable, friendly and helped us with a tiny ferry ticket snafu at the end.
Amazing day in Tangier
Rebecca_H, Oct 2023
Abdul and Majid were great. We loved getting Moroccan tea with them, and getting a full taste of what life is like in Tangier.. and a lesson in its history. The people of Tangier were welcoming and proud of their history and culture. We were grateful to have this opportunity.
Fantastic experience
Gloria_E, Jul 2023
Loved our Tour. Our tour guide picked us up and the train station, and was very courteous and informative. He went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed the entire tour. Also took us to a great restaurant for lunch.
Unforgettable experience

What a wonderful experience. We were picked up at the port by a private van with AC. Van was clean and very hospitality with water on board. He indicated this would be a private tour as it was described in the purchasing. Oh was it ever! We were driven through the City and were educated on the religions, places, and more less the districts of Tangier. We also visited some cool places along the tour. We seen where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. Also took Camels on a ride on the Atlantic Ocean. Seen Hercules Cave and also explored the many miles of coastline through the beautiful city. Then we had lunch overlooking the city and port of Tangier. Food was Awesome. Gave many choices to eat ( lamb, chicken, fish). After lunch we did a market tour along with many shops and coffee before being returned to the port. All in all I would definitely recommend Latif Tours Tangier.
A fine tour of Tangier

Ahmed and Moustafa gave us a fine tour of Tangier and the Medina. It was a pleasue watching Ahmed drive and Moustafa guide us through the winding streeets of the Medina. The tour was very reasonably pricedas well
Camels, Medinas and Shopping Warning!
Erin_M, Feb 2023
We only had one day in Tangier and knew we wanted to see as much as we could so we hired a private guide for the day. Both our driver and our guide met us at the cruise port very close to where we disembarked from our ship. We were impressed right away as they seemed to know how to stay one step ahead of all of the guided tours. We seemed to be leaving or arriving just as the large groups were leaving. We started at the Spartel Cave and then moved on to a camel ride on the beach. I think we would have liked a bit more time at the Caves as we only really went to the smaller one, our guide assured us the larger one was similiar but more touristy but looking back I think we would have liked to see the larger one as well. However, because we only saw the smaller cave we were able to beat the crowd to the camels. Our guide handed us over to the camel guide and told us to have a good time. We spent the next 30 minutes riding camels on a beach next to the Mediterranean Ocean. We had the whole beach to ourselves and really had a fantastic time. And just as our camels brought us back up the hill to end our ride, we saw crowds of people arriving to take their turns. Next up was the first part of our walk through the medina or old city. I was so thankful to have a guide as we definitely would have lost our way several times. There are so many twists and turns and small alleyways. We stopped and joined delicious Moroccan Green Tea along the way. Up until this point our visit had been absolutely perfect and we were having a great time. Then we went to a shop where we were encouraged to go all the way up to the roof for an excellent view of the city. They weren't wrong it was a beautiful view of Tangier. When we came back down, the shop owner offered us tea and explained they were going to give us a demonstration. We sat down in chairs with our tea and watched as his team brought out rug after rug. They were beautiful rugs and while we briefly thought about buying one, when we were told the price would be 1500 Euros, we apologized and explained we just couldn't pay that much. They eventually dropped the price down to $350 but we had decided we really weren't interested. They continued to press my husband to buy the rug, completely ignoring my firm no thank you. At this point our guide magically appeared and asked what the problem was, he then encouraged my husband to buy the rug, saying it was a really a good price. Whether it was a good price or not, at this point, we just wanted to leave. (Talking to other travellers on our ship later, we discovered this is fairly common and we felt a bit better, so I think it's just important to note that it's fairly common for guides to have arrangements with shops and I'm sure they get commission or kick-backs when tourists make purchases, so just be firm and let your guide know in advance if you are actually interested in shopping). When we finally left the shop (without buying a rug) our guide dropped us off at a restaurant for a late lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and the views from the terrace. After lunch we did stop at a couple other places and did make a couple puchases of spices and scarves. We finished with one more short walk through the medina before meeting back up with our driver and being delivered back to the cruise port. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend this experience to everyone as I think having a private guide is an excellent way to see Tangier. Just be firm with your guide about your interest in shopping before you start the day. Also if you are a female, (or in my case a female, traveling with her husband) understand that culturally you are second class. The guide spoke mainly to my husband and did make the same "lazy women" joke five times about various types of work that women used to do and can now buy or automate (ex: buying tapenade rather than buying the olives and making their own tapenade). As a female, I think it's important to take it in stride, know it's cultural and let it go so you can enjoy the tour and the day! One side note -- our driver was excellent and actually did speak to me and treated me as an equal. I would recommend our driver and a driver/guide without hesitation!
Great tour of Tangier
Karen_E, Feb 2023
We had a wonderful visit in Tangier thanks to Hamid and Abdul. We did a day trip out of Tarifa using the ferry. We were picked up on arrival even though our ferry was more than 30 mins late. After a light breakfast, which was fantastic, we saw some sights and Hamid talked about the history of Tangier. Then we rode camels near the beach and saw the Hercules cave which was beautiful (even though a little pricey, 6€, for the small cave). The walking tour of the kasbah and the Medina were great. Hamid made sure we we didn’t go where we shouldn’t have. The van was very comfortable for the 4 of us, but could have comfortably seated at least 2 more. For our first trip to the African continent, it was very safe and beautiful.
Awesome

Abdou and Hamed were absolutely amazing! We felt very looked after and welcomed. Morocco is a different country for wemen but we had great time. Our guides were adjusting to our requests and very helpful with all shopping and transfers. We would definitely recommend that trip for anyone thinking about visiting Tanger. It was an experience of a lift time

Good tour

The tour guide Abdul had good English and tried very hard to make sure we had a good time. I was very glad to have the guides! Hot tip: bring cash (euros ok) to Tangier. Lots of places only take cash.

Good advice!! Thank you very much for the supportive review.
Great Experience for Guided Tour in Tangier!
Scott_I, Jul 2022
Great tour, the guides were very helpful. We drove around the city, they helped answer every question about the history and culture of Tangier. We explored, had food, and then saw town as well!

Fantastic Guide and Tour!!!
Shawna_F, Jun 2022
We had an absolute fantastic time being led around Tangiers with Abdul and Hamid! They were waiting for us as soon as we arrived by Faery. We were escorted into a great vehicle with plenty of room for the six of us. We had four teenagers with us and they kept their attention throughout the whole visit. Their knowledge of Morocco is unparalleled. The first part of our tour was a driving tour through important sites throughout the city that we could never have reached by foot. The beach was absolutely stunning. And we were treated to a camel ride along the beach that was such a fantastic experience. Abdul and Hamid take care of all of your needs from water to bathroom breaks. Later, they brought us to a wonderful restaurant where we had authentic Moroccan food that overlooked the ocean. Then we spent the later part of the afternoon exploring the grand socco and petite socco for shopping. We never felt uncomfortable in the market and he was right there to help us at all times. This was an experience we will all remember and they brought us safely back to the ferry for our trip home. The price was amazing. When we came back to our Marriott timeshare in Marbella, The concierge told us that so many people go and do not have the same experience. In fact he wanted to get the name and phone number of our tour guides because it is unheard of to have this experience. We are so happy we did this and if we ever get back to morocco we know that upscale tours also does business in Marrakesh and Casablanca! Whole heartedly recommend them!!!!
Nice intro to Tangier
Jennifer_E, Feb 2020
The tour was great. The driver and guide met us at our hotel with time to spare. The guide had good English and was knowledgeable about the area. I didn’t eat before we left because the description said we could get breakfast at one of the stops. Unfortunately that stop wasn’t until 12pm. (Our tour started at 9am). It was delicious and cheap, no complaints there. An hour and a half later we were deposited in a restaurant for lunch. Maybe I should have been more clear in my communication with the guide.
Response from Host, Jul 2020
Thank you very much for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your tour of Tangier. As for the breakfast, we are sorry about that. We wouldn't start with the tour of the Medina if we know you didn't had your breakfast. The itinerary on the website does stat that you could have your breakfast in Cap Spartel, but that's the tipical itinerary and the stops may change order depending on many things among which there is the pick-up location. You could have sent us a message the day before or informed your driver and guide about having breakfast, at the beginning or after the tour started, that wouldn't be a problem for us at all.
Wonderful
Carrie_H, Jun 2019
We are so glad we did this private tour. Our guide, Mustafa, was wonderful and knew how to get us everywhere when lines were not long. Since we had no idea what to expect in Morocco, it was so nice to have our guide there to greet us at the port and show us highlights of the city. He was patient with our four kids (the kids loved him!) and let us set the pace and decide what we did or did not want to do. It was a great way to see the city in one day.
Response from Host, Nov 2019
Amazing review!! Thank you very much. All families with kids are welcomed to take this tour. It's perfectly designed for all sorts of private groups, especially for families.
Private tour of Tangier
Journey57370809836, Apr 2019
This was by far the worst tour we have ever experienced. Beware. The tour guide if you can call him one, picked us up in a cab which he had hired. We then walked through the Tangier market which was not of interest. He said the cab was on its way so we could resume what should have been a tour. He kept assuring us that the cab would be there in “two minutes”. More than an hour passed as we waited for the cab to return. When the cab returned—another cab with a driver who we had never seen, our original would be guide handed us off to the new cab driver, who barely spoke English. He drove us around for a short time, which was a waste since he could barely communicate with us. We asked to be taken back to the ship. He even dropped us off at the wrong place. The original guide if you would elevate him to that status, was a total fraud. The hundreds of dollars we were charged should be refunded to us. This was not a tour, but rather a sham. Two days before the “tour” an email was sent stating that the tour was overbooked. How do you overbook a private tour for two people? He wanted to add six more people to out purported private tour. We refused. We should have cancelled at that time. This was a complete scam. This was the worst. It was completely misrepresented.
Response from Host, Nov 2019
That review is certainly not for us. THAT'S A MISTAKE!! It was meant to be for another business. Check out the other reviews, we can't be excellent and extremely bad at the same time.
