What To Expect

Your day begins with pickup from your Tirana accommodations. Settle into your private air-conditioned vehicle for the drive northeast to Bovilla Lake. Before starting your hike, take some time at a lookout point to enjoy stunning views of the aquamarine lake and surrounding mountains and forest.

Upon arrival at the trailhead, embark upon a hike up Gamti Mountain—the hike is fairly easy and not too long. From the elevated lookout, take in the impressive views of the lake and surrounding green-covered mountains. As you catch your breath, your guide fills you in on the area’s history and culture.

Your final stop is Ishëm where you see the river running through a limestone canyon that is around 3,940 feet (1,200 meters) long.

Your day ends with drop-off back at your Tirana accommodations.

The lake and the view was gorgeous! Comfortable transportation and pick up included. The staff were very helpful and were able to make sure we made it to the airport on time afterwards.

Ledjo was a great guide. He was encouraging to all of the group members. The hike was a little challenging but certainly doable. The scenery was beyond breathtaking. I highly recommend this excursion.

I appreciate the Tour company for accommodating, my last-minute reservation, and, conveniently picking me up from my hotel! My guide Rei promptly picked me up at the agreed-upon time. On our ride to the mountain, he gave me some interesting facts about the country. Rei did a fantastic job accompanying me at the mountain, and taking tons of amazing pictures to help me remember the experience. I appreciate his excellent service, and would highly recommend!

We had a great time and saw lots of interesting sights. Our guide Rei and driver Beni were fantastic - very knowledgable, friendly and attentive. We stopped at a waterfall before continuing to Lake Bovilla and hiking up Mount Gamti. The hike was challenging but exciting and well worth the effort, as the views from the mountain top over the lake were incredible. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Albania!

There was a mixup with the cars so we ended getting a private tour for me and my partner. The tour guide was funny, well spoken and knew his country well. He also gave us time and space to hangout and take photos at the locations where we stopped. The views were incredible and trip is definitely worth taking!

Tour guide Deo was great the whole day! Kept checking in with everyone on the bus, played music for us and explained the days schedule. Walk is fairly easy for someone with general level of fitness. The stairs are when it is more intense, esp if you have a fear of heights (as they are grated steps). At the top Deo was encouraging us to explore and take photos, also showing us how to get up to other view points safely. He shared facts about the reservoir and mountain areas which was interesting. The restaurant isn’t too expensive and has very nice views - you can’t eat outside though so might want to take food with you if the weather is nice. The drive up to the mountains is a lot of off-road, so the mini bus goes slow. There is not other way up unless you want to hire a car and drive in Albania 🥴😂 Only thing I would change is to have more hiking, as it wasn’t as difficult as the description made out it would be. Great day out though! Glad I done it!

An eventful experience

Before I came to Albania I wanted to make sure to experience something different and unique so i decided to check out this trip! I was picked up by our guide/driver Edi, who from the very beginning was very nice and accommodating. I was joined by two fellow solo travellers a little bit older than me, and together we had a fantastic time during the drive! I stayed in Tirana for 3 days, but this one was most certainly the most eventful one. We got to experience some of the most incredible views Tirana has to offer, while also enjoying some local cuisine and music during our drive. This was 100% worth the money and the time and I would recommend this to everyone coming to Tirana. Not only do you get to see the beauty of what this country has to offer, you also have the pleasure of meeting like minded people who you have a blast with. I also want to thank our guide Edi for the great service he provided driving on the roughest roads I've ever seen.

Absolutely beautiful place to visit! Deo was our driver and tour guide for the day! He was young and enthusiastic, and navigated the roads brilliantly. He ensured we knew the itinerary of the trip, was very informative, chatty and attentive ensuring we were all OK and safe on the steep hike up. He was also happy to answer any questions we had and offered to take pictures for us. Pick up was also on time and at our correct location. Just take note it is as steep climb and some of the ride is quite bumpy along the roads closer to Bovilla lake. There is a lovely restaurant and toilets near the lake for a convenience break. Would definitely recommend this trip and if the hike is too daunting you could always have drinks at the restaurant.
