The tour was really great, the second night accommodation no so much, but the thermas were fantastic. The guide was really nice and the driver too. We did not like the breakfasts, we would have liked more traditional Bolivian food.

Roughing it somewhat

I had a great time but have done trips a little less Glamourous. Neither hotel had heat & I hadn’t taken enough warm clothes. My friends were particularly cold. We saw a lot, had a great group representing 6 countries, something I always enjoy. Super great for 20, 30 year olds which was our group except us. Might caution 50 on up that roads are very bumpy for people with bad backs. I loved it & would recommend it to friends that I know love getting into the culture as a priority, the accommodations are rustic but adequate!

Excellent tour! Very diverse and full of different sights and experiences. Well-paced and excellent guide. The hotels were very basic but this is what you can have in the area. We booked through Viator, and our only complaint that the communication and instructions before the trip were not clear. Overall the tour is very recommended.

Bad customer service

We took this tour and my wife got very bad high altitude sickness while coming from La Paz to Uyuni. Their one of the boss Oscar initially helped us to oxygen and with some recovery we continued the tour. At Santiago, my wife situation gone bad and guide Juan was literally forceing us to continue the tour in-spite of we requested to send back to Uyuni so we could go to lower altitude(San Pedro). He continuously argued and started taking personally saying India has higher mountain, how come you can't handle this, this is physiological, his boss(Oscar) is money maker, Bolivia is best etc etc and finally arranged a car to return for a pay. Upon reaching Uyuni, Red planet charged us 500 US$ to drop us at Bolivia boarder where shared service transportation takes around $50 and they also charged us US $180 for transfer from Bolivia to San Pedro whereas shared services charge only $10. They literally used our situation and made money instead of helping and considerate to our situation. Also, no where in the tour description mention that night stay would be below basic, shared bathroom which they told the group in middle of the tour. Very bad. In short, tour is ok but not the services. Will not recommend this agency to anyone.

I have dreamed about visiting for so long when the opportunity presented its self it was like Yes! Let's do this. I was traveling with my teenage daughter so I did lots of research online. Everything kept pointing Red Planet. I booked on line a month in advance and hoped for the best. When we arrived at Uyuni. We found Red Planet and they we ready for us. There was a group of 12 of us and put into 2 cars and off we went. The 1st day was the salt flats which was the most amazing. We traveled exactly as the tour said we would. We had 2 great drivers Leonardo and Rolo who helped us with everything. The roads are very bumpy and rocky we got 2 flat tires along the way which I am surprised we didnt get more. We saw so much of Bolivia with the Alpacas, flamingos, lagoons, the hot thermal springs (heavenly) and vistas that pictures can't do justice for. It is a rugged trip, you are filthy by the time return but full of fantastic memories. The group we traveled with was also super fun. It was a trip of a lifetime.

MUST DO ONCE IN YOUR LIFE

This tour shows off Bolivian salt flats, dessert, lakes and high country at its grandest. It is one of the most spectacular corners of the earth. We went with Red Planet tours and our guide Hector made this a memorable trip. Terrific drivers too. Now this is not a 5 star luxury tour, rather an adventure with very basic accomodation. This adds to the wonderful experience rather than distracts. The food prepared over the 2 nights and days was wholesome, reflected local food and was completely adequate unless you have severe dietary issues. All round a tour to do NOW before mainstream travelers get on to it and spoil it with greate numbers.

Wir wurden pünktlich vom Flughafen in Uyuni abgeholt (nach Rücksprache mit Red Planet). Und wurden auch gleich auf die Jeeps aufgeteilt (2 Jeeps mit je 5 Gästen + Guide der abwechselnd mitfährt). Unser Guide Ivan war sehr kompetent sowie unser Fahrer Efrain und beide sehr nett!! Es waren 3 Tage mit wundervollen Eindrücken und Erlebnisse. Eines der Highlights war das Thermalbecken abends, an dem sogar die Milchstraße sichtbar war. Unterbringungen sind sehr einfach, jedoch annehmbar. AUSREICHEND WARME KLEIDUNG MITNEHMEN! Schlafsäcke werden gestellt. Definitiv lohnenswert!! Danke!
