We had the pleasure to go on a super exciting tour with our guide, Maria. She was always attentive and patient with everyone so even if you had some fears or issues, you were in good hands. I highly recommend the tour as it is something you would not be able to do in other countries.

The most amazing activity in Iceland
Nouhad_I, Apr 2024
Literally the best activity done in Iceland! Our guide Daniel was super amazing, he helped us overcome our fears from the glacier hike and made us enjoy the experience to the max! Can’t explain how magical it felt to be on top of this glacier and how satisfying the whole hike is! Definitely recommended!!
Must see

Fun to do with kiddos

Kira was great! Despite a very windy day she did a great job keeping us safe and making the climb fun for our kids. We even got to try climbing a small wall a bit which was a highlight! All in all it was a lot of fun and a great family experience we won’t forget.
Solheimajokull Glacier Hike
Elizabeth_K, Oct 2023
Nice hike, and a good chance to see the Solheimajokull Glacier. The ice picks were definitely more for show than anything, but the staff did an excellent job showing how to properly use crampons and the harness. My tour guide was also very knowledgeable about the glacier, and glacier hiking in general, and offered a lot of great information.
Best excursions in Iceland 🇮🇸

Must do tour!
Kate_D, Aug 2023
Our lovely guide Marcus, shared lots of interesting information as we walked on the glacier. A very knowledgable and attentive guide! He really took his time so the tour did not feel rushed at all. Safety equipment provided and careful Guidance given about where to walk or not walk. I really appreciated the company rescheduling our trip as I had injured my knee and was unable to attend at thee booked day and time. So pleased we were able to reschedule as this is an amazing experience. Definitely worth doing. Thank you Arctic Adventures!!
Not a small group experience
Hilde_V, Jul 2023
Being received, equipped and explained the arrangements together with more than 50 people, mostly waiting, in pouring rain, was anything but a small group experience. Weather is what it is and the guide did her best to show the glacier, but the actual glacier hike was disappointingly short. So the trip is suited for those not used to hiking, snow or ice at all. And although the actual group per guide is about 15, the whole thing is quite crowded so ‘small group’ is misleading marketing in our view.
Poor organisation, overall would not recommend

We were very sceptical about booking this excursion haven seen some negative reviews however glacier walking was something we really wanted to do and so took the risk. Unfortunately the excursion wasn’t great and wished we’d listened to the negative reviews. Advert describes small groups guarantee, which arguably they did split you off into groups of 15 but that was after you spent 1hour 30mins with a total of 60 people getting helmets, harnesses etc fitted and waiting for folk to rent appropriate gear (so even if 15 of you had appropriate gear, they wouldn’t send you off as the first group, you had to wait for all 60) There also appeared to be a lack of safety concern as when handed a medical disclosure and next of kin form, which had already been signed by 60 other folk (in the rain) all the emergency contact details had been rained off the forms for everyone I.e the operator was essentially handed back a blank form with no details. We then spent approx 15mins walking towards the glacier before stopping for a further 20mins to get crampons fitted (so already 2hours & 5mins of our 3 hour trip gone) we then proceeded up to the ice at 1625 (haven met at the start point at 1415 & due back at the start point at 1700) which was exciting however after 20mins had to turn around as we were approaching the 3hour trip mark (despite advert saying you’d get to spend 60-90mins on the ice)…we only got 30mins on the ice, which included a 10min walk up the ice, 10min photo op and then a 10min walk back down. Overall really disappointing trip. We requested a partial refund from the operator however this was declined as the trip went exactly to plan.

It was out of our comfort zone but the guides were amazing , walking up tot he glacier was an amazing experience. Kuddos to the guide and company for ending early as the winds picked up to over 70 mph, he made sure all got down safely and calmly and guided us all safely back along the beach even though it was a very difficult to even walk
A great glacier hike for beginners
Christopher_W, Jun 2023
Very well run company. The guide was very knowledgeable and quite safety conscious. My 11 year old daugher and I were both very happy with the experience and recommend it highly. I would only add that this is certainly for beginner hikers, since the hike was short and with very little elevation gain. I am an advanced hiker and next time would probably look into something more challenging.
wonderful time in glacier
Cryst_M, Jun 2023
this is the first experience for my sisters to walk in the glacier, very excited. when they finished the trail they feel very happy anmakes
Fun and informative. You will get a scenic workout.
Jennifer_H, Jun 2023
Fun and informative guide! Was definately a workout as well but our guide spaced in rests appropriately. The exercise felt great after so much driving around. Length of hike is just right for beginners like us. In my opinion you need to be in good shape with no issues to fully enjoy the hike. We are in our 40's/50's and fairly active and were able to enjoy but I could see where those less active would struggle as I know my heart rate was definitely in my high cardio range in steeper portions of climbing. Also, know that the restrooms are 300 kr to use and you need to scan card or phone to access.
Very exciting experience...
