What To Expect

Make your way to any one of the stops, where you'll climb aboard your transportation for the day. We suggest starting your experience at the Welcome Center to provide the best flow.

Settle in to your seat and begin your tour of Washington, D.C. with informative commentary from your on-board guide. When you reach a stop that interests you, simply disembark and spend as much time as you like exploring. Trolleys arrive at each stop every half hour, and there are plenty of things to see and do at each stop.

This tour also includes transportation from Lincoln Memorial to Arlington National Cemetery as well as a trolley tour of Arlington National Cemetery.

Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

Operating Schedule: Tours depart every half hour from the Washington Welcome Center (1001 E St. NW, Washington, DC 20004) beginning at 9am until 4pm. Tour operates daily. Shuttle available from Lincoln Memorial to transfer to Arlington National Cemetery for that portion of the tour. Shuttles run every half hour from 9am - 3:30pm

Birdy was great! The tour was great too. Saw just about everything we wanted to. Good for the old folks in our group to see the things without having to walk. I do recommend getting there when it starts if you want to go to Arlington. That was worth the extra cost for sure!

Priceless tour

Our second day in Washington DC was packed with excitement and inspiration! We embarked on a trolley tour to explore the city's most significant attractions and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Seeing the Arlington National Cemetery and the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider will forever be etched in our memory. Dinner at Chef Geoff's (btw this is one of three restaurants owned by Chef Geoff inDC (who is also Norah O’Donnells husband and was delicious!) added another layer of delight to this already amazing day.

The actual places we visited were amazing! The tour guides were kind of rude and the last one at the end of the day was just disrespectful by raising her voice telling people to be quiet treating everyone like children.

Good but disappointing

It was good, however at one stop the driver didn’t stop but passed us by and we had to wait quite. Long time for the next bus. The stops were not marked well so it was difficult to find where to catch the next bus. Not very organized during busy cherry blossom season when they should know that it will be busy. More buses should be used. This should not be a surprise that it is a busy time.

The associate at the Welcome Center was very helpful and honest. Our Consuctor Birdy (Birdie) was amazing. I did the 3:15'ish tour so we hit some traffic but she communicated well in advance, offered additional options to get back if we decided to hook off towards the end of the evening. Excellent narration, wealth of knowledge, definitely worth the trip! Learned a lot that I thought I knew but really didn't. Thanks Team, and thanks Birdy!

DC hop on bus

Our driver was great! Her positive vibes were infectious! The only recommendation I have for tourists is to check the time for the last pick up at the Lincoln memorial.

It’s Not DC Without Old Town Trolley

Old Town Trolley Tours is the best way to do DC. 15 incredible stops along a downtown tour filled with popular and interesting historical sights to see. The hop on/hop feature allows you to customize your sightseeing and areas of interest. I was able to see everything on my list in a day and half with a little pre-planning and a willingness to walk around some between stops. This is a popular tourist option, sometimes the buses get full, wait times might get longer than usual but they always call in more shuttles when the passengers aren't hopping on and off as much. It’s all done moment by moment, and traffic will get in the way, come with your patience and kindness because that’s the only way to have a great time here in DC! I highly suggest getting yourself on one of Prince James’s buses and riding it all the way around before embarking on your convenient hop on, hop off feature. He is absolutely, hands down, the best tour guide. They are all great in their own way, and all kind and polite but Prince James was the guide I looked for when hopping back on a bus. He is well versed in both general and alternative historical facts; as well as fun facts sprinkled in and amongst anecdotes and personal stories. This man brings his A game for sure!! Do yourself a favor and invest in your trip to DC with this Trolley service. You won’t regret it, as long as you’re patient and kind, you’re guaranteed to have a great time!

It was raining and cold this past weekend and we probably wouldn't have got to see much at all if it wasn't for the trolley cars. The drivers were knew the area and were very informative. I learned a lot from them. They were also friendly and nice in every way.

Very disappointed

Unfortunately, the tour was running 2 hours late and did not send a message or update. We found out after walking to the welcome center at 9am. Then we walked across the city to get the trolley at the Lincoln monument at 11:00am - it was not there. We waited 40 minutes, and called a few times. They kept saying it was on its way. After wasting 2hours and 40 minutes of our way we decided to forget it! Very disappointed :(.

Horrible

It was promised that the trolleys were coming around every 20 minutes. You would sit at a stop for over an hour and still no one would come. We paid for Arlington national park tickets with our admission and was told when we got on the bus that it’s going to take over an hour to cross the bridge to get there and that we wouldn’t have time to get a ride back because they were stopping picking up at four but in reality they didn’t pick back up at any of the stops at all

We waiting for 45 minutes for our first bus. Many stops were closed. We only sat on the bus for about an hour total. No hopping on or off because the bus was done picking up people at our stop by 4:00. Not worth all that money for a short trip!

Fun in DC

Very convenient to use. Educational even with the corny jokes! Had to pay full price for Arlington transfer and tour instead of the half price shown in the flyer and that was disappointing. Arlington was very good. Third time to the area, but it changes and the reminders are enjoyable.

We didn't know we had to change trolleys to get to Arlington. After waiting for 3 trolleys that didn't go to Arlington, we gave up and took the 15-stop trolleys back to the Visitor Center.

All the drivers were informative about every landmark. But Duke had the best stories. We only got to stop 10 and then got caught up at the Spy Museum (so fun). Need to go back to finish the tour. Will do this again!!

Tours cancelled and left at first stop

I was dropped off at my first stop and when I came back to “hop-on”(I was told every 20-30 minutes a buss would be there) after waiting 30 minutes I called their office to make sure it was a “hop-on” spot to which I was told the busses were no longer running because of a protest. The other buses were running and no streets were shut down so not sure why that happened. I asked for a refund and was told yes, then she asked for my email to send a refund request form so they can review it? We’ll see.
