How to get there

By train, go to Philadelphia’s 30th Street Train Station from New York’s Penn Station via Amtrak, then transfer to NJ Transit, which will take you to the Atlantic City Rail Terminal that’s located just off the boardwalk. If you’re leaving from Philadelphia, located to the west of Atlantic City, take the Walt Whitman Bridge to the Atlantic City Expressway (NJ 42-S); the drive is about 1 hour.
When to get there
Like all Jersey Shore towns, the best time to visit Atlantic City is from May through early September, which is when the weather is warm, sunny, and probably humid. You can visit the casinos and resorts year round; during the winter months, you’ll encounter less crowds.

Considered the backbone of the Jersey Shore town, the Atlantic City Boardwalk is lined with hotels, resorts, shops, casinos, arcade games, and more. Stroll down the wooden walkway (or take a ride in a rolling chair) to take in views of the ocean and sample local sweets like salt water taffy and fudge.
