Opened by local chocolatier Hans Imhoff in 1993, theCologne Chocolate Museum (Schokoladenmuseum) is devoted to Cologne’s chocolate-making history. This fun family attractions lets visitors peek behind the scenes of a working chocolate factory, learn about the farming of cacao beans, and sample delicious Lindt chocolate.
It was a wonderful walk through all of the history and operational information related to the chocolate industry. The tour is very popular however and I recommend going early in the morning to avoid getting delayed by masses of other visitors ahead of you.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit educational as well as fun we had a great time even having taster chocolate both out of robot arms and out of a chocolate fountain
Being a chocolate lover this was a must see for me. The museum was amazing. It followed the cocoa bean from the tree to your mouth. There is a mini manufacturing plant and different areas where workers make specialty pieces. They also give you a lot of samples which I immediately ate
Really interesting to walk through the whole process of making chocolate and best of all you get a taste of the product along the way. Lovely shop where you can buy all the different chocolates, big temptation not to fill your basket to the top 😀
Right along the river. Had several samples! Know that it’s Lindt so you aren’t having something you can’t get in US. Very educational though. Enjoyed it.
Seeing how the chocolate is produced was amazing. We enjoyed getting to know more about its history, and tasting and shopping at the end was delicious and fun ☺️🍫
I enjoyed learning about the history of Chocolate. It was also good to learn about the environmental and economic issues involved. The best part was of course tasting and eating the chocolate.
Nice way to get out of the rain for a bit. Cute museum and had some nice samples. I think there were a couple school trips there while we were so it was a bit crowded and loud. Try the hot chocolate in the cafe after, it was delightful.
