Unforgettable
Ronald, our guide was very knowledgeable, he spotted some animals in areas where we wouldn't had known to look. We saw three different species of monkeys, two different species of tucans, the scarlet macaw, the poison dart frog, and so much more. I would definitely recommend the guided tour because if you are alone and inexperienced, you will not know where to look. Having an experienced guide like Ronald, is an added plus. I went during the rainy season where a part of the park is closed due to flooding and an overabundance of crocodiles but that did not stop me from appreciating the biodiversity of this amazing place in the Costa Rican rainforest.

The guide was a very important part of the Carara park visit. We were also in a small group which was more conducive to a genuine rainforest visit. On the best of times it is a lot to ask to see so many animals, birds etc but with less people trampling through it is a better experience.

Expensive for only a 2 hour tour.
Our guide Antonio was really good & we did see a few monkeys but did not see any macaws at all so was a bit disappointed. Overall it was a good tour even though it was quite expensive.

Carrera National Park Tour
Geovanna was a fabulous guide and spotted soooooo many critters for us. She knew the behavior & habits of all the critters as well. Most importantly, she found toucans and macaws which we had so wanted to see! In addition, we saw a bat, leaf-cutter ants, army ants, a green ibis, large iguanas, frogs, and more colorful birds. Then she took us to a lesser-used part of the park and we saw a large troop of squirrel monkeys. As we ventured further in, we spotted peccaries (boars) which could be a bit dangerous so we back-tracked until they were gone. Started in again, only to be quickly shooed back out because Geovanna had seen 2 pumas on the ground hunting! What an experience!
