Kansas City trip ideas
The aquarium is in the Crown Center Mall, steps from LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Kansas City. To save money, book a combination aquarium and LEGOLAND Discovery Center admission ticket—you can visit both attractions in one day. Once inside the aquarium, don't miss the shark feedings, held three days a week at 1pm, the touch pool, and educational talks. Kids will love behind-the-scenes looks at feeding and caring for sea animals, but remember that these experiences are an extra expense.
Admission prices usually rise on weekends and holidays.
Bring plastic—the aquarium doesn't accept cash.
Behind-the-scenes tours are an extra US$10.
The aquarium is fully accessible for wheelchair users and visitors with disabilities.
Borrow wheelchairs from Crown Center Customer Service on Level 2.
The last entry is one hour before closing.
The aquarium is in the Crown Center Mall, near downtown Kansas City. It's an area well-connected by public transportation—jump on any free southbound streetcar, get off at Union Station, and make the 10-minute walk along Pershing Street and Grand Boulevard. Visitors with validation can park for five hours at the Crown Center garage for free.
The aquarium is generally open from 10am to 5pm daily, but the opening hours can change throughout the month. Shark feedings are on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 1pm, while behind-the-scenes tours are held 2–3 three times daily at 11:30am, 1:30pm, and 3pm. Check the aquarium website for adult events.
In addition to handling sea creatures in touch pools and watching shark feedings, kids can learn about sea turtles, octopuses, sharks, and rays in educational talks. If a day of learning is not in the cards, they can grab VR goggles and "dive" under the sea or celebrate a birthday "aquarium-style" with party packages.
