The snow-capped cone of Osorno Volcano is one of Chile’s most recognizable landmarks. Towering over Lake Todos Los Santos and Lake Llanquihue in the Andean mountain range, Osorno is the starting point of Chilean Patagonia and is a magnet for adventurous outdoor enthusiasts who come here to ski, hike, and trek.
What a treat to watch the sun setting from the cone of the iconic Osorno volcano overlooking Puerto Varas. The drive through the national park, where the volcano was located, was also very memorable and beautiful. Our guide was well acquainted with the environment and an excellent conversationalist. This was a perfect way to end our day and we highly recommend this excursion.
We spent more than 2 weeks in South America, and this tour was one of the highlights of the entire trip!
This is a fantastic tour if you like the outdoors; you will see amazing waterfalls, hike some beautiful trails (if you want to), and see a crazy beautiful volcano up close. Up close, as in hiking at the lower edge of the glacier (in October)! This experience will not ever be forgotten; seeing the magnificent Osorno up close.
Our tour guide, Miguel, was excellent! He spoke very good English but, more importantly, knew the best places to stop for photos and let us take our time at each place. He took us to a restaurant in between Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes; the food was great and the views and stories about the place were even better! Long story short, it had been destroyed when Calbuco last erupted in 2015... really interesting! Miguel led us on an amazing day of wonderful views of rivers, mountains, trails and the Puerto Montt area.
We also stopped in Puerto Varas for shopping, which is not to be missed. It is a tourist destination with a lot of shops, places to eat and a wonderful view of Osorno and the lake.
Overall this was probably as good as Torres del Paine in terms of a place to visit. Photo opportunities are unbelievable! Our memories from that day, being on the volcano 4,000 feet up, will last as long as we live!
Pickup was at our hotel; drop-off was the same. All went smoothly. I would do this tour again and again!
Christian was great! He gave us a good outlook and history of the region. Being a private tour, he was very open to customizing to our needs. Tour is a must!
Perfectly planned and delivered - Jenny our guide was fantastic in Spanish and English fluently. Helped our family procure vegetarian meal at lunch. The title of the tour doesn’t do full justice since it also has a lovely boat ride on lake Todos Los Santos. Do both parts of the Osorno ski lift for 24,000 Pesos don’t skimp it. Totally worth going up to the snow. All entrance and tickets are extra but that’s clearly mentioned in the description of the tip. On schedule and punctual
The rushing river, seeing the volcano, driving around the lake & hearing the history of the area was all very interesting & enjoyable. Pablo, our guide & driver did a good job.
The weather cleared & Osorno Volcano was clear to the top. We enjoyed the hike through the National Park in the morning while it was still heavy clouds. Our tour guide, Penny was wise in making the decisions to visit the sights in the order she chose. She met us on the trail & walked with us part of the time. She enjoys people & is very cordial. Our lunch was delicious at a restaurant on the lake. The grilling meat smelled wonderful as we drove into the parking lot. It’s always helpful when the guide chooses a restaurant. By now the Sun was out full to go to Osorno! We had plenty of time from the drive up to the ski center lift & on up to the glacier if we chose.
The tour was full with 16people. The guide spoke well in both English & Spanish & took the time to be sure we all heard the information she gave us!
We were both picked up & dropped back at our hotel which was convenient!
First of all the scenic splendor is unrivaled. I need say no more than that about that. But, is it possible that the tour guide, Miguel Hott, made the splendiferous even better? A great command of English, knowledgeable about the area and its history and so fluid in his conversation that we became good friends in the space of a day. I want Miguel to move in next door to me so that we can see him more often. He’s a wonderful human being.
Miguel was a fabulous tour guide and an excellent ambassador for the area. We were two couples traveling together. The volcano, and river gorge were fantastic. Miguel expertly got us around ahead of the many tour busses which was great. Puerto Varas was a beautiful town and the local lunch stop was phenomenal! Miguel was very informative and fun to be with. Great personality and conversationalist. Just a fabulous tour day. Highly recommend it and Miguel in particular.
