Your tour includes admission to Real Pirates Salem where you will see authentic artifacts from the famed Whydah Shipwreck and you will be able to see (and touch) real pirate treasure. You will also learn about 12 historic structures including the Friendship and the Derby House. The tour will end at the House of Seven Gables one of America's most famous historic houses. You will learn about the Triangle Trade during the colonial period, the actions of privateers during the American Revolution, and the global maritime trade with the Far East after American independence. You will discover how Salem became one of the most prosperous and influential ports in the nation, and how its maritime heritage shaped its culture and identity.

A two-hour history and architecture tour given by a former guide on the Salem Trolley. The route is less than 1.5 miles. We will see the House of the Seven Gables and other first-period homes, the Custom House, Derby Wharf, Salem Witch Trials Memorial, the Old Burying Point, Gardner-Pingree murder mansion, one Hocus Pocus filming location, and great restaurants. The Witch Trials are mentioned, but they are not the focus. We focus on ships, sailors, captains, adventure, profits, and pirates. The tour is not scripted, and hard questions are welcomed.
