3 Days in Las Vegas for Foodies
Las Vegas may be known for gambling and entertainment, but for me, it's all about the food. The culinary scene has improved dramatically over the years—something I’ve seen firsthand on my many trips—and it’s now a worthy foodie destination in its own right. From quality buffets, to a wide range of restaurants from the biggest celebrity chef names, to every type of cuisine imaginable, there’s something for every taste and budget in Las Vegas.
With thousands of restaurants, there’s a lot of choices. Here are my recommendations for the best food experiences to have in Las Vegas in three days.
Summer in Vegas is hot, so wear light clothing, but bring a layer for indoor air-conditioning.
If you only have time for one thing, make it a Las Vegas buffet, which has come a long way.
Start your trip with the classic Las Vegas dining experience, the buffet. The Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace is the ultimate in indulgence, and my personal favorite. The Wicked Spoon at the Cosmopolitan is good for brunch. Work off your excesses on a Las Vegas Strip walking food tour to combine sightseeing with food sampling.
Watching a live performance is another classic Vegas experience. You have numerous options, including Cirque du Soleil, comedy shows, and magic shows. End the night with a meal at a celebrity restaurant such as Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen or Joel Robuchon’s L’Atelier.
There’s more to Las Vegas than the Strip. Spend the day exploring downtown Las Vegas, Container Park, or the Arts District. A food and sightseeing tour makes it easy to find local favorite foodie options and see the sights.
Or book a specialized food tour, like a taco tour of the best taquerias in the city or a chocolate tour that covers the massive M&M’s Las Vegas and Hershey’s Chocolate World. Or stop at the famous Ethel M Chocolates Factory and Cactus Garden. For dinner, try another buffet (Wynn Las Vegas or Circus Buffet at Circus Circus) or celebrity restaurant to compare notes.
Get out of Las Vegas for your final day. Explore the Hoover Dam, and stop at Fox Smokehouse BBQ in Boulder City. Or step back in time at Goodsprings ghost town, and grab a bite and drink at the Pioneer Saloon, the oldest bar in southern Nevada. For a different experience, go wine tasting in the Mojave Desert in Pahrump.
If you’re feeling flush or have been lucky in the casinos, splurge for a helicopter tour with an included dinner. Then, explore Sin City’s legendary nightlife. Book a guided tour for VIP access to the best clubs and drink specials.
