Overview

Learn all about mezcal on a full-day tour of the countryside outside of Acapulco. Drive through a scenic landscape and historic towns to Chilpancingo, the capital of Guerrero. Then visit a mezcal factory with your guide, and see how mezcal goes from the agave fields, to the distillation and fermentation process, and finally becomes a fine drink. You'll sample several varieties of mezcal and mezcal cream, then have a traditional lunch and classic cocktail before returning to Acapulco. We really enjoyed the boat tour with mezcal tasting. We felt safe the entire time. Our tour guide explained everything to us in English as we drive thru the town and gave us a little history lesson on Acapulco and the surrounding towns. The tour of the mezcal factory was great also. We got a chance to taste every flavor of mezcal they make. After the tour we had lunch at a small restaurant and the food was amazing.

This tour is a wonderful opportunity to taste the best local offerings of Guerrero! The mezcal is very impressive and the family story of creating it is truly amazing. The lunch that is provided is the best meal we had in Mexico (my French partner raved that the restaurant was so good it deserved a Michelin Star) and even the local tea and bread was a special experience. Both places were beautifully decorated and all of the people were so hospitable. The drive is a couple of hours, but we’ll worth it and we learned so much about the history of Mexico on the way. The guides also took exceptional safety precautions in light of Covid (they wore masks and sanitized at every stop and always had sanitizer available). Neither restaurant was crowded at all and we felt perfectly safe the whole time. Highly recommend!
