Hugo was an excellent guide on our day trip to Lake Atitlan. He took care of every detail and shared information on the culture and history of Guatemala along the way. It was a beautiful day to Lake Atitlan with amazing views of the volcanos. We visited a Women's textiles association that showcased their artisan textiles. Hugo recommended excellent restaurants and all services provided were as describe. We highly recommend booking with Hugo. Viator makes it easy to connect to great experiences.

Fun and well organized

We booked this trip the night before and e ended up being the only two- it felt like we had a private tour! Our guide was knowledgeable and it was great to see the coffee farm, textile center, and walk around the streets.

Private tour with Nataley. Her driver and her were excellent and gave us an amazing experience. Because it’s a 2 hour drive each way and the lake crossings becomes too rough after 1pm I really recommend a private tour if you only have 1 day from Antigua.

Ramiro was an amazing guide! So kind and had a lot of knowledge about the lake and the culture surrounding. Lunch at Deli Jasmin in Panajachel was incredible, probably the best thing we ate the whole trip!

Antigua to Lago Atitlan Trip

We truly had a great experience on our tour. 1. We loved that our tour guide was punctual, my wife and I love punctuality especially on early morning starts. 2. Nayely Palomo was our tour guide and Cristian was our driver and I honestly had such a great experience. We loved that it was a private tour because it’s such a better feel. We had the freedom to go about as you please. Nayely took us to A Panajachel, then we took a short boat ride to San Juan, there we got a tour of how the women make there coffee and also a the process of the cacao. The town is a lot more colorful and full of energy. Over all it was an amazing day! Note: The ride from Antigua is fairly long and it’s a windy road so if you are someone who gets car sick easily be sure to prepare yourself. My wife and I were ok but I can imagine others.

Worth the price

It was around 8 hours in total. The tour is worth the price, given the places you get to explore. Boat and tuk tuk rides were fun. I found the lake itself to be okay. We stopped for breakfast at a place which was good as well. Our guide was helpful and he knew what he was doing. Only thing I recommend to the tour company is if they could offer water bottles for the passengers. It was long rides and offering water bottles would help.

Luck has it we had a private tour for this. Guide was on time, took us to nice breakfast on the way to panajachel. Tour of the cities was wonderful, seeing the highlights of each town. For this day you will need sunscreen, prepared for a boat ride, and only a little walking in the towns.

Hugo our guide was the best! He was everything that we could’ve asked for and more! I booked this trip for me and my parents who are older and can’t handle a lot of walking. I was worried about the limitations due to their age. But Both Hugo and Gustavo were amazing they both helped my parents in and out of the van every time. Hugo altered the plan in order to accommodate my parent without hesitation. He was VERY accommodating. he was amazing, I would recommend him to anyone wanted to do a tour! Thank you a million Hugo!!

Nelson was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of the history of Guatemala with us which we appreciated. He coordinated everything great along with the driver and we had an excellent time. We felt fulfilled seeing each spot in one day. He speaks English and Spanish which is a plus as well.

The lake is so gorgeous and the little towns we visited were beautiful and so colorful! Long day trip from Antigua, but comfortable ride and definitely worth getting out even if just for the day. Wish we had a little more time in each stop - but traveling alone we at least could control our own schedule!

Nelson was the kindest, patient and organized tour guide. He is extremely knowledgeable about the country, history and roads. It was three of us (myself, mom and her friend) and he worked at our pace (my mom is not about to walk as much). Nelson is well connected and knows the best restaurants and attractions/landmarks to visit. Appreciate his information. I would absolutely recommend Nelson for a tour around Lake Atitlan.

Private tour with a trusted driver & advisor

Nelson was wonderful, super professional, and courteous. We stopped for breakfast along our way from Antigua to Atitlan where he shared history and background about the cultures along the route. Once parked in Panajachel, we made our way to the boat already waiting for us. We zipped to San Juan and he took us through the main parts of town, explaining all the history and significance of the town's background in textiles. He got us a TukTuk to head to San Pedro where we visited more churches, learned about how efforts are being made to preserve Mayan language and culture. We were able to go at our pace and didn't feel rushed. We ended with a beer break at a bar overlooking the lake. Nelson was so wonderful he was able to arrange a ride for us from Antigua back to GUA Airport. Highly recommended!

I am not one to comment on these sites but the situation warrants it, the guide Ramiro Rivera and the driver Gustavo Pellecer made our day the best of days. They are very educated people and professionally speaking I give them a thousand out of a hundred, I recommend that the company always hire people like these so that everything flows perfectly
