Overview

Explore the Salinas Lake National Reserve on this full day private tour from Arequipa and learn all about its secrets from your guide. This excursion was truly one of the highlights of our travels as a gay couple. Julio's expertise on Arequipa and Peru made the experience incredibly enriching, and we felt very welcomed throughout. The Reserva Nacional de Salinas y Aguada Blanca was breathtakingly beautiful, and enjoying a delicious picnic lunch provided by Julio amidst the reserve was a memorable experience. Additionally, the comfortable car added to the overall enjoyment of the tour. We highly recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Arequipa.

Great day trip. Beautiful remote landscapes and various animals. Great escape from busier areas. Julio was extremely knowledgable about the area and all topics related to Peru really provided an added benefit to the trip.

We did the tour to the salinas with Julio. He is the perfect guide. The drive up was rough but filled with very fun conversations, in which we learnt a lot about all aspects of Peru. The scenery of the salinas and volcanos on the top is stunning and we saw a lot of alpacas, llamas, vicunas, flamingos and Andean ducks! Highly recommend the tour to those who want to avoid the crowd and have a full day in Arequipa!

A must-have tour in Arequipa

My wife and I were planning for our honey moon trip and this is a day tour she spotted. It’s fair to say the experience is beyond great. Julio is a fantastic guide that speaks perfect English (which is extremely helpful for us as non-Spanish speakers) and is extremely knowledgeable about the culture, political and economic landscape, flora and fauna of Peru (and of course football!). We never felt rushed as we walked slowly (to adjust to the high altitude) and Julio slowed down the pace as my wife has motion sickness. The view was simply surreal with the vicuña, flamingoes, wild rabbit, volcanos, and the tranquil salt lake (the pictures will speak for it self). The ride was very comfortable and the lunch pack prepared by Alejandro was also amazing!

What an amazing trip! You'll come for the breathtaking views and cute animals, but you'll stay for your guide Julio! His knowledge of the area and Peruvian history is unparalleled, and rivalled only by his wife's excellent cooking skills. Alejandra made us a delicious lunch, including a good vegetarian option. This was one of our best day trips ever so make sure not to miss out! Thanks Julio and Alejandra for an unforgettable day!

Julio a été un guide fantastique. Le véhicule utilisé pour notre groupe de 8 personnes (un mini-bus) était spacieux et confortable. Des bouteilles d'eau étaient fournies et le lunch était délicieux en plus d'être bon pour la santé. Que dire de la réserve nationale en tant que telle? Elle est magnifique! Nous avons adoré la vue et avons pu observer des vigognes, des alpagas et des lamas de très près. De plus, Julio est un excellent photographe avec tout plein d'idées originales pour immortaliser cette journée qui restera gravée dans votre mémoire!

Désert blanc magnifique!

Les salines sont comme un autre monde. On peut y apercevoir des vicuñas, plusieurs sortes de flamands roses et autres oiseaux. Il y vente beaucoup. L’étendue blanche est éblouissante. C’est un environnement désertique peu propice à la vie et pourtant…. Encore un autre exemple de la diversité et de la capacité de la vie de s’adapter partout. Notre guide nous y mené en toute sécurité et à profité du trajet pour nous tracer un aperçu de l’histoire politique contemporaine du pays qui a été très intéressant. Nous nous sommes arrêtés pour manger un très bon casse-croûte dans un endroit surplombant une vallée avec une vue splendide.
