Marco was a great guide. Our pick up was punctual, and the wine tasting was very generous at both Marco’s winery and the other vineyard we visited. Lunch was great, and Marco was passionate about this wine area.

Great tour for wine lovers
Elizabeth_T, Feb 2024
We (a couple) had a wonderful day with Marco. We visited his winery, a small winery cellar door in town and a third winery. He also dropped us off at a restaurant in Nave for us to have a solo lunch break. Marco was wonderful - it felt like we were spending the day with a very knowledgable old friend. We were lucky enough to have a private tour - just us and Marco. Marco’s winery - Cascina Galarin - was the best stop of the day! We would recommend the tour for wine lovers who want to learn a lot about the types of wine specific to the region and the wine making process (rather than tourists wanting to have a day sampling a lot of wines). Our only feedback is that a modest lunch should be included in the tour given the price.

Beautiful

Marco was very helpful not only explaining the process of wine making but also being a translator through out the trip. Seeing the different ways the wine is made with the added bonus of the beautiful scenery made the experience truly remarkable.
Wonderful Day with Marcos with Regional Wines!
Michael_S, Sep 2023
Marcos pick us up from our hotel in La Morra. We joined another couple, which made it even more fun. First, you should know this region is crazy beautiful. Views upon views! Marcos explained the wines and their regions carefully and accurately. We enjoyed tradition Piedmont food at our lunch stop in Barbaresco. Then in to Marcos’ own vineyard, which produces excellent wine as well. His English was excellent, he was well informed about the region and the wine making process. Highly recommend!
Insiders tour of the region that makes you feel like family!

Warm, friendly insiders tour of the wine region. You feel like family on this tour. Beyond impressed with the hosts. They were extremely accommodating, knowledgeable and shared their passion for wine with us! Do not miss this tour!
An incredible day in the Langhe wine region
Jack_T, May 2023
Marco picked us up from the Alba train station, and took us to amazing vineyards and winemakers. We stopped for lunch at an incredible Piemontese restaurant in Barbaresco, Antico Torre. At lunch we were able to try one of Marco’s own wines on the menu from his family’s vineyard, Cascina Galarin — it was so good!! The experience was so incredible, and Marco was a stellar guide. I couldn’t recommend it enough. It was totally worth it.
Unforgettable experience in Langhe!

This wine tour was easily one of the top highlights of our trip to Italy. Our guide, Marco, who is a local farmer and winery owner, made the tour really special. He is extremely affable and knowledgeable about the whole wine making process. It was great touring such a historic area with him, and he was always happy to answer our questions. We got to learn a lot about the wine making process, and, of course, taste quite a few world-class wines. Highly recommend the experience to any wine lovers!
Not what we expected
cassondra_e, Sep 2022
Our guide for the day was Giovanni. We were picked up at our hotel at 9:55 and dropped off at 4:30pm(not the 9-6 listed in the description). We started at their family vineyard which we enjoyed, however it is not a barolo or barbaresco. Next we went to the standing barbaresco tasting at a counter which was in a coop in the middle of a town. No vineyards in site and bikers were walking in and getting the same tasting we had. We tasted 3 years of the one wine they make. Next, the lunch was excellent. My confirmation said lunch was included, the tour operator said it was not, so we split the cost. I think he has corrected this on the Viator site now. Finally, we went to our barolo tasting which was in a roadside office again with no tour. We were hosted by the winemakers wife and she was great. We tasted 2 wines. For over $200 a person for a group of 4, we expected more. We have done dozens of wine day tours(South Africa, Napa, Bordeaux, and Italy this year alone) through Viator, private companies, and self planned and this was not what we expected. We usually purchase at least a case of wine at each vineyard we visit, but we purchased no wine this day. At first, I thought this was the standard tour for the region. However, the next day we had a truffle hunt scheduled that had a side barolo wine tasting. On this truffle hunt/barolo tour the following day, we visited a vineyard, toured the vines, watched the destemming and first press of the grapes, met the winemaker, toured the production facility and cellars, and had a private tasting of 9 wines with charcuterie. We purchased 3 cases of wine. The tour guide on this tour also gave us the educational experience on the appellations we had wanted. This truffle/barolo tour was also cheaper, the transportation was a nicer, and we had a driver in addition to the guide. I suggest, if you chose this tour to be very specific with the operator on what you will be getting.
Response from Host, Sep 2022
First of all I'm sorry you weren't satisfied with the tour. The thing I regret is that in the last winery you only tasted 2 wines but they didn't tell me that the others were no longer available. Anyway this roadside winery is a very good working winery (they also gave you a bottle probably to say sorry to you they only have 2 wines available although that's a good sign for a winery don't have anymore wines available) and it's a winery that I think will become more popular in the future. As for the "coop" it is the most famous in Italy and every year receives excellent scores from magazines also in the USA and is located in the center of the small town of Barbaresco (not just any village). It is fine for my wineryr which is located 2 km outside the Barbaresco area but in any case you have tasted other varieties such as the Barbera of the area. When the next day I asked you how the tour had gone you told me wonderful fantastic day then after sometimes you starte to complain about the restaurant and I did not argue and I immediately transferred the requested amount by paypal to you. I'm happy the day after the tour guide was great and told you what you wanted to know regardign Barolo wine. I don't understand how my brother that makes wine himself and own a winery couldn't give you more information regarding Barolo then the guide the day after. The comment on the timetable seems excessive to me because it becomes difficult to be precised. It really depends on how the day goes if there are delays or not and in your specific case if you remember initially you had to share the tour with 4 other people who had already booked but I tried to do everything to move them the next day to please everyone. In case there are multiple couples sharing the tour one can be brought to the hotel before the other and that also determines the arrival and departure times. You were alone. I finish saying in all of your tours you got how many times you had the orwner of a winery guiding you, someone that make wine himself. I think unique experience compare to someone that might repeat the same story every single day that has been listen from some else before. Learning from mistakes so thanks for your review. Marco
Very wonderful experience!

Giovanni (Marco's brother) was our guide for the day and he did such a great job with this tour. There was six of us and we all absolutely loved it!! It was one of the most memorable parts of our whole trip to Italy. We loved all the wineries we visited and we loved how it felt very laid back, which still learning so much about the area and about the wines of the area. We loved all the beautiful views we got to see and all the delicious wines we got to taste. Giovanni also took us to a very lovely restaurant that we all enjoyed so much. We really loved the tour and meeting all the people and would highly recommend this tour to anyone!!
Très satisfaisant
