This is a great way to check out all the wineries in the area without having to drive. Check in was a breeze. We did this on a Sunday and a few of the places were closed so be mindful of that. There is a decently sized bike lane on the roads so it felt relatively safe from car traffic. Roads are also very flat.

The description on Viator says they have options available for e bikes and tandem bikes. They then charged $60NZD for an e-bike when we returned (no disclaimer when they gave me the bike) and said I was wrong about the description. A bitter ending to an otherwise wonderful day.

Really great thing to do, vineyards are in close proximity and all offer a unique experience doing it on bikes makes it even more fun

The biking company is great, pick up and drop off with Matt welcoming and reliable. Bicycles are well maintained and in good working order. Check with wineries ahead of time regarding their hours of operation and if reservations are needed or not. The bicycle company may not have the most updated information regarding this. You will be riding on the shoulder of somewhat busy roads as well as gravel paths that are mostly smooth.

Thanks for the review. Good advice. If there is a specific winery that you want to visit check their hours before arriving. Also pre book some lunch if you want a winery restaurant lunch. Allan Scott Bistro and Wairau River restaurant are good options. The winery hours have been constantly changing this year so we are not always up to date no matter how hard we try.

Andy presented us with a map and gave a quick guide on the local area vineyards. Unfortunately it was very busy as a cruise ship was in and we hadn’t booked any wine tours or lunch in advance. Managed to get lunch as we booked straight away: a lot of people were happy to have platters though. We also did tasters on our own.

The weather wasn’t great when we started and we were given the option of doing a tour in a minibus. I’m so glad we opted for the bikes. We had so much fun and the 6 hours (!) passed so quickly. The vineyards were all in close range and the tastings were all carried out in a very professional way.
We were given a good briefing before we started out and given numbers to call if we had any difficulties. The weather was irrelevant and we had a fabulous time

A very good way to do the tastings. pre-Bookings at vineyards just needed for lunch or at Cloudy Bay and Fromm.

Lovely day, lots of information given and equipment was excellent. Shame some of the vineyards were closed and some signage around would have been helpful.
