Overview

Combine visits to two of Transylvania’s most popular historical sites with a visit to a sanctuary for captive bears on this full-day tour from Bucharest. Begin the day at the Libearty Bear Sanctuary Zarnesti to learn about the sanctuary’s mission and its resident bears. Continue with time at Bran Castle, popularly known as Dracula’s Castle, before finishing the day with a walk through Brasov’s historical center. Entrance fees not included.

Please note that the Bear Sanctuary visit takes approx. 1h, involving hill climbing on dirt road.
Comfortable shoes (trekking sneakers or boots) and mountain clothes are recommended.
Visiting Bran Castle requires a slope climbing and several floor.

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

Superb tour to Transylvania

The visit to Libearty bear sanctuary was the highlight of the tour for us. Learning about their stories and seeing the amazing work at the sanctuary was incredible. There’s even lots of dogs, cats and wolves to see too! Florin was punctual, provided lots of excellent information on the history of Romania and even took us to see Peles castle too on the way back. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone considering it.

Recommended day trip from Bucharest

We went to the bear sanctuary (would definitely recommend to visit this place!), the bran castle and brasov in a day trip from Bucharest. Daniel was very kind and polite and told us a lot about Romania. He even waited in the morning when we wanted to have a little breakfast in the hotel first. It is a great place to visit and I wouldn’t miss this trip. Would definitely do it again.

Amazing Tour - Bears a real highlight!

Alex was a great tour guide - helpful and chatty when we wanted - quiet when not! We had a LONG time together in the car as traffic was pretty bad on the way back, but his driving was excellent (as we know Romania is a bit crazy at times!!) and we felt very safe. Comfort breaks were built in to the drive, which was very welcome. Water provided. Alex's English was very good and we discussed many things on our long drive! He also gave us some great recommends for our remaining time in Bucharest with restaurants, museums, things to do in a message after our tour - such a lovely afterthought! The Bear Sanctuary was the absolute highlight, what a special place - we loved it so much. Not very well known but they deserve all the publicity they can get - really an amazing experience. Bran Castle is veeeeery touristy but an impressive sight for sure - we went on a Saturday so that's on us! Brasov was beautiful - thank you to Alex for the excellent lunch recommendation. Overall - a great experience and whilst it seems a bit pricey - the time / hours travelling make it very reasonable for what you actually get! Seeing so much of the beautiful landscapes was an added bonus. The trees in Autumn are so beautiful - thank you Alex for a lovely day!

This was a great tour and way to experience a small sampling of what Romania has to offer. Daniel was an excellent guide and incredibly knowledgeable about all the places we went and things we saw. Great day! Our guide, Daniel, was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. The bear sanctuary was a unique and fun experience. It was a treat to see the bears in their surroundings and hear their stories. We proceeded to Bran Castle where Daniel gave us a tour of the iconic castle. We then went to Braşov, enjoyed lunch after a short tour and visit to the Black Church. Great day! Great tour including 3 must see sights

Highly recommend this tour as it included a lot of places we wanted to visit in the short time we had available. The bear sanctuary experience was great - we were there when the bears were being fed so lots of photo opportunities. The tour of Draculas ( Bran) Castle debunked a lot of the legend from historical fact but I am still happy to say I visited the castle. Stopped in Brasov for time to wander around and have coffee. Lovely clean town and well worth the visit.

A brilliant day

The whole day was a great experience, but the highlight for me were the bears, for my partner it was Bran Castle. We had been advised to buy the tickets for the sanctuary beforehand as there are only 40 available. I'd advise anybody to buy the tickets for the castle also before you go as it was very busy and the queues were long. However, we did go during half term and just before Halloween, so it was busier than most times. The guide was excellent and looked after us very well. Communication from the company was excellent and they were very accommodating and professional at all times with an issue that we had. I'd recommend anybody to book with them.

Amazing Place!!!

Went to Romania with friends for 4 days. We originally booked to go on this tour on the Saturday but it got cancelled. We got the Friday last minute thanks to Viator. Everything happens for a reason as we ended up getting the best tour guide in Romania called Daniel. It was our favourite day out of our 4 day trip. Daniel has so much knowledge about Romania and couldn’t have been any more friendly. The snow on our tour made it all that more amazing. Some amazing sights to be seen in Romania.
