Disappointing

Our tour guide did not show the evening of our tour nor did they communicate that they would not be coming. We spent an hour at the corner in the rain trying to communicate with Viator and the tour guide with zero response. We did not hear from the tour until the next day stating that a personal matter came up and they apologize. I get that things happen, but you don’t tell us the next day and leave us in an unknown neighborhood, in a corner, that late at night. It wasted an entire evening of our time in Buenes Aires. Disappointing!

Amazing Evening

We had an amazing evening of Tango with Andrea and it was a real highlight of our trip. The lesson was fun and Andrea was a lovely patient teacher. The visit to the beautiful Milonga was amazing and it was lovely to drink some red wine and chat about the culture of the tango in Buenos Aires. We were lucky to see a live orchestra too and a performance by some of the local dancers. Fantastic evening and would recommend to anyone.

Great experience. Andrea is a very good and patient teacher, perfect for a complete beginner. She was also very knowledgable about the tango and its history and great company at the milonga, where we were fortunate enough to see live music and a professional show. Overall just what I was looking for and I would highly recommend.

Midnight Milonga

No visit to Buenos Aires would be complete without some kind of tango experience and I highly recommend this one. Andrea managed to patiently teach me and my ‘wooden’ legs the basic tango moves before we headed off to an atmospheric milonga that you would never find without a local guide. She was informative and great company and her enthusiasm for tango was infectious. I thoroughly recommend this great night out.

Authentic tango experience

This was a great experience. We enjoyed our dance lesson with Andrea - and it helped us understand how tricky it must be to dance the Tango well! The trip to the Melonga felt really authentic - with a live Tango orchestra - and we had the added bonus of seeing a performance by the 2022 world champion tango dancing couple - which was incredible.

This was a really great experience and an opportunity to see part of Buenos Aires that you might not see as a visitor. We felt at ease as soon as Rafa opened the door, the tango lesson was pitched at the right level and teaching was very patient as we had never done and dancing like this before. If you are thinking of doing this you will have a good time with nice people who will make anyone feel welcome.

We loved the experience. What stuck out to me was that this experience truly felt to me like meeting up with a friend of a friend in another city. We were brought in and shown a lovely time by two very knowledgeable people, and had an awesome time not only with the tango, but getting to know them as friends. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Not to mention the tango lesson was delivered exceptionally well, and the Milonga we went to gave us the opportunity to see a fantastic tango orchestra. It was very private and gave us the opportunity to see a side of the tango nightlife that would have been rather difficult to make happen on our own.

Rafa and Esther were amazing! My wife and I had a private lesson in their home to learn the basics while sipping on wine and fernet,and then headed to a very local milonga to watch a great band and couples dancing. Great conversations about everything tango and life in BA in general.

I wanted to visit Buenos Aires to see what tango was like, but that’s about it. I decided to take a dance lesson and came across Rafa and Esther’s private underground tango immersion. The experience went beyond my expectations in the most wonderful way. I was greeted by the sweetest most knowledgeable couple ,who met every one of my tango expectations. Not only were they patient with me (as I assumed I had 2 left feet) they also thought me the names of the steps and the origin of tango. We went on to a milonga, a night club for adults with comfortable sitting, food , drinks and wonder dancing atmosphere. As I watched many people dance from my comfortable seat , I sipped on delicious wine and the couple explained how the dance floor worked and more tango facts. The day after, I bought my first pair of tango shoes and will be taking lessons back home in Chicago. Rafa and Esther single handedly showed me how wonderful tango is and I will forever be grateful for my new go to workout dance hobby.

Wonderful experience. Might actually be the best "tour" that i’ve been on. Rafa really made us feel comfortable, put a lot of personal touches into the experience by sharing real stories and helping us understand the ins and outs of the dance. We started with a lesson where he really broke down the basics of the dance and helped us even learn some of the moves! Then we went to a melonga and it was one of the coolest experiences because we got to sit at his table and drink wine and watch the dancers and the whole event while he explained a lot of culture of tango to us. There was also a cool performance and we got to meet the performers because they were friends with Rafa. This was really cool. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone. And I hope to keep in touch with Rafa for our next trip to Argentina!

Wow. I don’t know what I was expecting, but this honestly completely surpassed my expectations. Rafa is such a kind person and it was really cool getting to know him and tango. Rafa not only knows the ins and outs of this, but he is a professional in this scene. He was actually the headline performer in the milonga event that we went to. He literally got up from our table and performed as the main event. Really cool to be at his table and to see that happen. It felt like we were his friends at his table and not just a tourist. I would do it all over again the next time I come back.

Pardon my language but this was badass. My wife and I were looking for something kind of “off the beaten path” and this was amazing. Rafa took us through a crash course in tango and then brought us to this underground milonga that I would have never found myself. He helped us understand all of the codes and undercover language of the milonga and it was cool to watch it all go down in front of us. The dancers were beautiful and Rafa was an incredible dancer and teacher. I don’t think we could have asked for a cooler way to spend a night in Buenos Aires! Big thank you to him for showing us such a cool time.

I wanted to do it all over again the next night LOL! Amazing time and we learned so much and had a wonderful time. It was nice to hear about the real lived experiences of tango dancers. I have seen some tango shows before but this was really something else entirely. We were able to see where all of the local dancers go and Rafa told us a lot of things that we would have never been able to figure out. Rafa was such a kind teacher and we were grateful for the experience. I think the tour "technically" ended around midnight or 1 but we stayed out even later because we were having a great time. 10/10 experience. (FYI - I attached a picture I was able to take of the group of performers. They were so good. we were able to sit so close! You can’t really see it in the photo but the building was gorgeous.)

100% recommend. I was traveling with my nona (78 years old) and was looking for something to do with her. I was worried that this wouldn’t really be accommodating of someone her age, but someone of any age would really enjoy this. And she even stayed out until 1am because she was having a great time!!! I was so surprised. She was dancing! I havent’ seen her smile like that in a while. And Rafa being so handsome didn’t help HAHA. Amazing experience and Rafa was so lovely with her. I definitely recommend this!

Not your average tour

I feel like I need to start by saying I’m the biggest skeptic there is - especially with these touristy things since I usually don't like them. But this was different. i don’t think i’ve ever enjoyed a paid “tour” as much as this one. SUCH an amazing time. I was looking for something that my girlfriend would be into and that didn’t feel like a touristy thing. This was NOT that. It felt like we were hanging out with a friend and being invited to a party we would have never been able to find otherwise. My girlfriend and I are feeling inspired to maybe find some tango lessons when we get back home because this was too cool. We went to a milonga that had a *live* orchestra and it was really quite special. I would never have been able to see that otherwise. very grateful to Rafa for showing us such an amazing part of the culture here.

I would recommend this to anyone visiting Buenos Aires! It really was a highlight of our trip and a memory we won’t forget. Rafa could not have been more pleasant, we had such a great time!!! and we learned so much more about this culture by being able to be there in the moment while it was all happening. My boyfriend and I are still talking about it a week later. Rafa deserves a medal for helping us learn a few dance moves because it’s not something that comes easy to either of us HAHA! This experience was really unforgettable and so special. We are taking some great memories back with us thanks to this experience.

"This is not your typical tourist experience; it is a private immersion into the place where tango really lives & breathes every day in Buenos Aires: the Milonga." Say that again 😂 We had an amazing night that exceeded our expectations! We started with a private Tango lesson from Rafael and his partner Esther, who are both accomplished tango dancers (Rafael doing a world tour 2024). Then they took us to a local milonga, where we enjoyed watching the locals, a live tango orchestra and a dance show. I could tell that Rafael and Esther love the Tango culture and traditions and wanted us to experience them. This was the best part of a wonderful night. The service at the show was excellent and we were very close to the dance floor. It was a warm setting. We had an unforgettable (we got back at 2am) and valuable experience! I suggest this to anyone who comes to Buenos Aires, It's a Must.
