What To Expect

Following hotel pickup from Darwin in the morning, board your air-conditioned coach for the 1.5-hour drive southeast to Corroboree Billabong. En route, listen to your guide’s narration and visit Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre, which boasts splendid views of the Mary River Wetlands. Touch-screen educational displays provide an introduction to the coastal wetlands ecosystem of this Top End destination before your board your boat. 

Take a seat under the full-length shade canopy of your open-sided vessel, which plies the calm waters of Corroboree Billabong during a 2.5-hours cruise. Your guide points out abundant birdlife such as jabiru, ibis, brolga, jacana, egrets, herons, kites, sea eagles, whistling ducks and magpie geese among the more than 30 different species that inhabit this area.

Keep your camera or your binoculars on hand to capture sightings of any saltwater crocodiles that often sun themselves on the banks or swim stealthily by!

Your boat tour includes a picnic lunch on board. Enjoy prepared salads and sandwiches and replenish your thirst with cold drinking water available throughout the cruise. 

After the wetlands and wildlife tour on Corroboree Billabong, return to your coach for the return trip to Darwin, where your day trip ends in the evening.

Kudos to Evan our bus driver, guide, waiter, horticulturist, ornithologist, botanist, comedian and generally a fantastic guy. He was so informative and interesting in explaining Aboriginal culture, bird and crocodile habits and lunch on the boat was great. Highly recommend this tour to EVERYONE!

The whole experience was wonderful. Connie was a really lovely lady who was full of interesting information and clearly loved imparting this to all on board. Really loved seeing the special Jabiru couple (birds) and the white belly sea eagles and their spectacular nests. Thanks for a wonderful day Connie.

The cruise was great. Saw plenty of Crocs, birds, and even a buffalo!! Our guide was smashing and I feel horrible that I forgot his name. I loved the tour and highly recommend

Great way to see the wetlands and wildlife

Wonderful tour of the wetlands and wildlife. Our driver/guide Evan gave us a smooth safe ride and entertained us with stories and jokes on the journey. Evan really came into his own when we went on the water where he expertly spotted the wildlife and positioned the boat so all could get a good view. Lunch was very tasty and we ate it parked feet away from a resting 4m crocodile- surreal!

I had a most enjoyable day! Evan was a delightful tour guide bus driver and boat handler full of information and delivered in a light hearted and thoughtful manner. Found numerous crocs and birds and circled the boat so all had a great view and allowed all to get photos. I would highly recommend this tour.

Very friendly guide, Evan. Interesting stop at the Indigenous Information Centre. The billabong cruise was fabulous, lots of birds and flower to see, as well, of course, as the ubiquitous crocs. Nice lunch. Absolutely recommend this trip.

Liked the Fogg Dam Nature Reserve, an unexpected visit, Billabong, we saw a lot of wild life, salt and a fresh water crocodiles. Lunch box was good.

This was a really well organised and well run trip. The guide (Evan) was very knowledgeable, had a good sense of humour and made the day fun. The Corroboree was fantastic. Seeing the wild life up close in its native habitat was great. There were enough breaks to ensure the day wasn't too heavy. Highly recommend.

Absolutely great experience. Corroboree Billabong is beautiful, full of animals. it is 2,5h of real safari on wetlands. Lunch close to crocodile was amazing. Evan is the best guide with outstanding knowledge about wetlands. It was the best day of all tour around Australia. Thank you!!!

This was a great day . Our tour guide ( Evan ) was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic . We saw everything that you would expect to see , but didn't have to drive hours to get there ( like the Kakadu cruises ) . Would certainly recommend .

From the moment I got on the bus, I knew It was going to be a great day. The tour guide Evan was so informative, personable and super knowledgeable. The additional stops to the Wetland View Top and the Corroboree Hotel (twice) were a bonus. I really appreciated how Evan manoeuvred the boat so we could get just the right shot of the birdlife, crocs and the wet land vegetation. A truly memorable day. Thank you!
