Sandra was our tour guide, and she was amazing, told us lots of information about El Chalten along with funny stories. We had great weather, so the views were amazing, saw so many condors. Lunch was lovely and we had time to walk around town and buy alfajores! Great trip, highly recommended, thank you.

Almost but not quite

Great guide . Trip did not live up to expectations. Walks were brief and El Chaten was bland. Food in restaurant was substantial ant tasty. Too much time on bus - could it have been split into walks on journey.

Sandra was an excellent guide and was good at communicating in both English and Spanish. We enjoyed the history, views, and trying to spot wild animals. The hike up the mountain to view Fitz Roy was amazing. The lamb stew and large portion of mashed potatoes for lunch were so good. It was a long day with a lot of riding in the bus but it was definitely worth it.

The trip was not worth the drive or the activities!

The long trip was a bit disappointing as the only activity at El Chalten was a short hike to a look out point over the city and a small waterfall. And over 2 hours to explore the city!

No clouds on Mt. Fitz Roy. Took too long to leave el Calafate after pickup at 7:30 am Bus not on road until 8:45 am. English translation of critical information-where to meet again, what we were going to do - a long hike- could have been better.

Not worth the money

A long drive to El Chalten and a short walk up the mountain to a view point. Unfortunately it was cloudy and raining ⛈️ so nothing really to see apart from the town. Then into town for lunch which was good food. After lunch a short drive and walk to a waterfall, very unimpressive. Then a wasted hour in the town doing nothing. Was really hoping it was going to be good, but fell short.

Unforgettable trip to perito Moreno Glacier.

Investable trip but little too hurry. We had boat tour, after boat only 1 hour to walk on trails. Not enough time to enjoy the glacier.

Do not waste your time!

This was a complete waste of time. The tour guide (blonde lady named Lusimilla or something) failed to translate everything into English. I know enough Spanish but my husband does not. I could understand what she said in Spanish (many minutes) and then her English version was mere seconds and a brief summary of what she said. I asked her what she said in Spanish twice, and politely pointed out privately she was not translating that into English. She demanded she said everything in English. She also did not manage people well. She should have helped people understand times we needed to be back - but instead people wasted time and came back whenever they wanted. Horrible tour guide. The hikes. First was the Cóndores. Big hike for a viewpoint…of the town we had just seen from the bus stop. And the view about 2/3 way up is same as the top. So why?? Then lunch. Milanesa was dry. Server tried to make me pay for table mates extra drinks. No one who spoke English knew what drinks were included or not - bc tour guide failed once again to explain it in English!! Waterfall hike was flat and easy and waterfall is pretty. But crammed with too many people. Then we were dropped off at the same restaurant in Chalten (I’m sure they’re getting a kickback for putting us at the end of town next to the same restaurant again). And had to walk down the Main Street to see a town devoid of anything interesting. Walk and walk, for one ice cream store, one souvenir store without power (and more like a flea store); and many beer places. This is a low budget hiking backpackers place - not mainstream traveler. All you have is hostels, beer places, and low restaurants. All far away from each other. And the tour guide gave us 2 hours in the town. Why?? There is nothing to do and a complete waste of time. Another couple asked why we were here. I should have paid for a taxi back to Calafate instead of being kept prisoner on this horrible tour in a horrible town. Oh and Fitz Roy, the entire reason I wanted to come, we could not see. Sure they can’t control the weather and I understand. However, your guide said most days you can’t see fitz Roy and it’s very unlikely. What? That should be explained in the trip information. Do yourself a favor and do not take this tour.

Surely there is a minimum percentage of travelers who know Chalten and do not like it, perhaps 5%, there is no doubt that you are on the list, there is nothing to object, I see that you have liked absolutely nothing and clearly you are within The proportion of people in the world that this happens to them, they don't like anything, I recommend you for your next trip, Las Vegas, Paris or New York, good luck with your next trip!!!

The guide was knowledgeable and helpful. This is a good trip for those with limited mobility. It would also be good for transport to the Laguna Capri hike. Lunch was pretty good.

Stunning views trip

Great first time experience in El Chalten. The highlight of this trip is having a stunning view of the town and Mount Fitz Roy, we did it and it’s simply amazing. The hiking is not difficult and definitely worth it. The views on the road is also memorable!

Pretty views, but too long a bus ride

It was a 3 hour bus ride each way, and the main event was a fairly short (45 minute) hike up a hill for a nice view of the mountains. The path has a few steep portions, but was not difficult (My husband is 70 and in reasonable shape and was fine with it). The view was lovely, but not worth 6 hours on the bus. We stopped at a rest stop on the way that had some interesting local history including some photos of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid who hid out there for a while. It also had a few fossils and some natural history as the area was once under water. We saw a lot of guanacos, a cousing to a llama, during the bus ride. Our tour guide was very friendly and exuberant, but her English was not great. I speak Spanish, and I enjoyed her talk. However, my husband found many of her explanations incomplete or garbled sentences frustrating, not a good experience for him. The trip included a nice lunch in Calafate at a reataurant provided by the tour, with some time to explore the small and charming town. Your time probably better spent on a different type of tour.

A Great Way to Spend a Day

It was just a really pleasant tour, the as long as a coach truck, (has a passenger cabin on rear tray) was really comfortable and spacious meaning you didn't notice so much the journey there timewise. The hikes were great with awesome views. Our guide was very friendly and helpful. You actually get a decent lunch at a restaurant, that you get to pick what you want from a menu, unlike other tours that just give you a paper bag with a fun size muesli bar, apple and a sandwich that is inedible because someone thought it was a good idea to put coleslaw on it or something. Although it would have been better if the food had been ready when we arrived You even get an hour or so to walk around El Chaten (some passengers that didn't do the first hike went there earlier). Tour was in both English and Spanish, on our day there were only three of us who were native English speakers so obviously a bit more time was spent with the Spanish language, those who spoke it had more questions for the guide too. Highly liked it, I would recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys easy hikes and great visuals and scenery.

I thought the guide was excellent, and the itinerary was good considering the 500 km return trip. The scenery was every bit as good as I'd hoped. The biggest disappointment was the leisure time given in El Chalten was a bit of a waste. It was very cold and windy, and where the coach dropped us off was not very close to shops.

Long day, but we saw El Chalten

A long day but definitely worth the drive. Our guide Marisa was excellent. The organization had some communication problems (we didn’t know where they would pick us up, some other clients had to be bused separately to join us) but Marisa was a champion and handled everything perfectly. Her English was great and she provided us with a lot of interesting information and plenty of time to take photos and enjoy the scenery. The walk up to Mirador de Los Condores was a bit of a workout but completely doable. We were lucky the clouds were high and we got to see El Chalten. We saw lots of guanacos along the way too.

2 1/2 hours of “free time” was a Waste of our time

Our guide, Sandra, was very entertaining, knowledgeable and fun. However the ride to and from El Calafate to El Chaoten is long and leaving us in El Chaleten for 2 1/2 hours of “free time” was a “downer”. Our mini-trek and visit to a waterfall were nice, but other activities could and should be added to this tour, as the 2 1/2 hours down time were a bummer.

Great excursion with some wonderful views of mountains, plains, waterfalls, and the town of El Chalten, and just enough time out walking for it to feel right for someone like me (mid-30s, but not a hiker at all) - about 90 minutes up and down a small peak of the Andes, plus another 20 minutes or so to a waterfall. The guide was kind, and the lunch was simple Argentinean lunch food and wasn't bad at all. We also had a fun experience of snow suddenly hitting as we were up on the peak, which was exciting. Also lots of animals could be spotted on the route: tons of guanacos, one rhea (like an ostrich), an Andean condor, etc.

We had booked this one day tour expecting to see the highlights of El Chaten. When we arrived to the town it was snowing and cloudy. We were told we walking part of our tour was not possible, and consequently dropped off in town (there is nothing to do as it’s all in the park) for 5 hours. One would think that a tour company would have a “plan b” if weather didn’t permit. El Chelten is not full of shops or museums, so it made for a very long long day. Weather is unpredictable so inquire about plan b before booking.
