Overview

Travel to Torres del Paine in a rugged adventure truck, using an unpaved short cut to shave hours from your time in transit. That means more time in Torres del Paine National Park, where you’ll spend the morning hiking to viewpoints with spectacular perspectives on the mountain landscape. After a provided, picnic lunch, set out on a 2-hour hike to Lake Pehoé and Lake Nordenskjöld.

Mandatory requirements for doing the tour: The traveler must show the following documents to the guide before boarding: • Passport or Mercosur ID (original), must be the same declared in the reservation. Non-residents: it must be the same with which they enter Argentina. • Entrance to the National Park must be purchased online in advance. • Please inform food restrictions if any, 24 hs in advance. • Must complete Digital Affidavit to enter Chile 24 hs prior to departure Phytosanitary controls: Meals are included and are plentiful, however, you can bring extra food or drink, which must be dry and packaged. It is forbidden to bring fresh food such as meats, fruits, and vegetables. • Every passenger must check in advanced visas and special permits to travel between Argentina and Chile according to their passport nationality. This is a beautiful place to visit. The tour guide Martin was knowledgeable and very kind. Despite the long hours, we knew this is advance, so it's worth it. The truck is very safe and comfortable. They prepared gluten free lunch for my wife.

A long day, worth every minute. The guide Nicolas was very good. All day explaining in both Spanish and (good) English. He knows what he is talking about, very good explanations. No significant delay at the border and in case this would be so, no blamage on the organization. For the trip many experiences and photography depends on the weather. Fortunately we were very lucky. A wonderful trip
Very disappointing when cloudy/rainy

If it's cloudy it's really not worth going. I was determined to see the highlights of Torres del Paine in 1 day but the clouds never lifted and all I could see was the lagoons (not even a hint of the mountains). Not worth ~12+ hrs on the bus. And the bus windows were fogged up so we couldn't even see out. This is a LONG day with a lot of getting on and off the bus for checkpoints, bathroom breaks, and the viewpoints. Also, there was no hike because of the rain, but I'm skeptical they actually fit in a 2 hr hike. I still gave this 4 stars because if the weather is nice it's probably worth it and the company that runs it does a very nice job with the logistics.

The actual transportation each way was actually about six hours. Sadly, it seems that the gravel highway is too rough to be used as a shortcut now. The park scenery is spectacular, the short hike to the waterfalls and 1.5 km beyond is easy, and at the limit for this 77yo man with hip, one, and ankle arthritis. The Chilean guide was great The souvenir shop at the Chilean border has many wonderful bargains, especially a huge stock of alpaca sweaters. More time for shopping and snacking would be helpful, at least 45 minutes and maybe an hour,v before the 6-hour journey back to El Calafate.

Absolutely as you describe Danielle, Torres del Paine is a wonderful park and worth the effort to get there once in a lifetime!!!! Without a doubt, those landscapes of mountains, lakes, waterfalls and rivers will remain in your memory forever. Unfortunately Torres del Paine is 350km from El Calafate (700km round trip) and as you describe, the stone roads are not good, to complete the border crossing you have to overcome the South American bureaucracy!!! I also think that everything adds to the experience of visiting the wonderful Torres del Paine National Park in Chile!!! thank you for your comments.
Long day, group tour.

It's a group tour, so if something goes wrong because of fellow travellers your whole itinerary is thrown off. The staff was excellent and they work hard. I don't know if this is possible but having visas and passports checked by the company before you start, will create less problems . Staff did an excellent job, it was a fellow traveller that dampened our experience. We were 18+ on the bus and only 3 in the park and 2 hours at border. The staff did as much as they could, just some preplanning from the company would be nice. Be ready for a very long day.

The pick up was 10 minutes earlier than scheduled, we had to rush but it was ok. Our driver was very nice. We had to change vehicle before the start of the trip. All the staff was nice and courteous. We had booked to end our tou in Torres del Paine and expected to take a taxi but realized there was no taxi. The tour guide Natalia called our hotel and they sent us a car for extra charge. However we enjoyed the tour. It was very scenic.

Torres del Paine really worths more than just a half day due to it beauty and unique landscapes. Thus, I would strongly recommend spending there some days and take part into activities like trekking, hiking, watching the nature etc... Though in case it is really a do or miss I would recommend this tour. It was the only way for us to enjoy even for limited time the park and see some highlights. Our guide was AMAZING, shared a lot of important insights about anything we wanted, was always there for anyone and brought a high quality experience overall.

Whole heartedly reccomend this tour. They were extremely punctual and well organised, so that no time was wasted. Our guide Matias expertly handled border control. It is very long and a bit tiresome, but there were plenty of bathroom and snacks stops, families with children patiently accommodated, we stopped for the best views and got a full hour and a half on a very pleasant trail.

The whole day was seamless and easy, but most importantly beautiful and educational. Our guide (I can’t remember his name) was completely knowledgeable and so interesting. He was a geologist and had so many facts about the area without being boring. All around amazing day. In addition, we left the tour on the Chile side as we were continuing on to Santiago. We worked with them to arrange transportation at the last Chilean stop to our hotel in Puerto Natales. This was the absolute best arrangement to cross the border and see the national park. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed this tour! The weather was awesome and the staff were amazing! Our Argentinian guide Silvestre was fun and super knowledgeable about the surrounding areas, our driver Victor was an excellent driver and made the ride comfortable, and our Chilean guide Natalia was very informative and kind. This tour was also considerate of our dietary needs. We requested a vegan meal and that is exactly what they delivered. The OVERLAND 4x4 was very comfortable with wide seats and large windows to be able to enjoy the scenery. They would also regulate the bus's temperature to the passengers liking. Overall we would give this tour a 10 out of 10. Thank you once again for the wonderful experience.
Great Experience w Wow Moments in Chile

It was an overall good experience and would do it again. We had Nicholas as our guide, was good and efficient. Day starts with pickups around 630 and the bigger group headed out at 715. There were a few stops along the way for bathrooms, immigration (snacks here). It was about 6 hours from the time I got picked up to the time we went out for our first Viewpoint, but it went by well with the few stops. We were EXTREMELY LUCKY with the weather, almost no clouds all day. This allowed for premium viewing and pictures all day. We had some Wow moments. If you only have 1 day and want to see Chile and this park, this is the trip. We were dropped back off around 1030 at night, grabbed dinner on the way home. Lunch was a couple of homemade sandwiches, they were ok, came in a goody bag with a bunch of other snacks and water. But again, you have a chance to bring / buy stuff on the way when you cross into Chile. People shouldn’t be able to eat the sandwiches on the way home, stunk up the bus for a bit but no big deal. Thanks Nicholas!

Pros: Our guide Nico was excellent, his experience and passion for nature was remarkable. Also, Torres del Paine is a truly natural wonder, amazing place! Cons: very long and exhausting trip, we spent most of the time in the bus. Only spent an hour in Torres del Paine which was the primary purpose of the trip. The delay to cross the borders to Chile and back is outrageous. Plus, we didn't have any time to grab any food or coffee. My two cents: if you want to visit Torres del Paine don’t try to do it in a day. PS. Torres del Paine is extremely windy, even in days with decent weather conditions, so dress accordingly.
