- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.

This is not a tour but a taxi ride to the dam, where you have to pay for the entrance and tour when you get there. There was no sightseeing because all the driver did was picked us up from hotel and took to the dam. Do not get trapped in this scam.

The place is great to visit, but the price charged by Viator is very high for what is essentially a transfer from your hotel to the place and back.
Once there, you pay an entry fee (definitely worth going for the more expensive internal tour, especially if you are interested in engineering).
All of the time at the site is managed by the Itaipu Dam staff.
Get a taxi there and save a lot!!

Unfortunately, the guide on the Dam tour didn't even offer an English option so I wasn't able to understand any of the information given. The dam itself is worth seeing though.

Just finished with this tour.IGU CITY BUS TOURS (local company) turn up an hour late and after being reminded a non English speaking guide turns up and gets some random person off the dam entrance queue to do the translation stating he wll pick us up after 2hrs and doesnt turn up there at all.

My confirmation states that entry cost is excluded and there are 2 options: panoramic or technical tour. Pick up and drop off are included. I selected the technical tour but no one came to collect me. I called and was told I'd taken the wrong tour and forfeited pickup. $30 taxi back. Terrible service!

This was the best Dam tour ever! : Some people are annoyed that this tour essentially is transport to get to the Dam and back to your hotel, but it clearly states what's included and what's not. Depending on which hotel you stay at, the taxi fare round trip will be much more than this costs, so it's well worth it as the Dam is about a 20-minute drive outside of town. We weren't expecting much to see, but were pleasantly surprised at how organized and tourist-friendly a dam can be. Be sure to bring your passport and cash with you the rep wouldn't accept credit card as he booked our tickets as one large transaction he assumed we only wanted to do the panoramic tour but we were interested in the technical tour too. It takes about 1 hour for each tour and the only English version was at 10:30 back to back. The other 2 people in our bus only did the panoramic so they had to wait an hour for us to be done with our technical tour. We highly recommend the special/technical tour as you really get to see the inner workings of the entire facility up close and with knowledgeable guides. The short video before you go on the tour is very helpful, but we recommend watching something on YouTube from National Geographic beforehand to better understand the context and mechanics in layman's terms to fully appreciate the modern marvel that this place really is.

to less Information before: not clear how Long is the driving, how Long is the tour, which tour exactlly we are doing, if we have to pay additional entrance or not, etc...
but the Itaipu dam is nice and interessting to see!

the bookings indicated a pick up/ tour starts at 2pm and we got pick up from the hotel at 6 pm .
not what it says on the descriptions of the tour .
not worth the money and time.

It was a privilege having accommodated for this tour. Actually i was taking Macuco Safari in the morning yet my tour agency in Iguazu managed to squeeze the schedule in order for me to join this Itaipu Dam tour in the afternoon.
The place is huge, i am amazed on how this dam was built. I am happy to know that both Brazil and Paraguay were benefited from this huge construction. This is really a massive engineering.

The package only for transport, the driver is great, but still a bit expensive for transport.
