We had a fun time! Our tour guide Javier was great- he provided water, soft drinks and tequila to get the fun started! Also, even with minor delays departing from some of the 5 stops (due to people being late back to meeting spot) he stayed positive, patient and informative! I’d recommend this tour to anyone with one day in Guadalajara. Get to know your tour mates for an even better experience!

Great day trip to Lake Chapala
Lucy_S, May 2024
First, Javier was an amazing guide. He was funny, personable and more than accommodating. The tour was punctual, and our guide always communicated pick up, drop off and travel times between destinations. The van was air conditioned, which was a plus. Javier spoke both English and Spanish, so that was helpful.
An uncomfortable day of tourist traps
Joseph_G, May 2024
The trip to Lake Chapala, the town of Ajijic and Chapala was not what we anticipated. The Driver, tour guide, Javier, was nice and his dog companion could not be more adorable, but there was no focal point to the trip. We could have easily taken an Uber to the towns and received the same experience. First off, the stop at the Vincente Fernandez resting place and ranch was nice, especially for those who know of Fernandez, but we were all led to a store to purchase items which seemed like a tourist trap. The tequila tasting was the best and the most fun. We all enjoyed the camaraderie with the hostess and enjoyed the tasting. The lunch was awful at the Mariscos restaurant. The food was second rate and we were piled into a long table to eat food we really didn't want with people we just met. It would have been different if this were part of a week-long tour and we knew the people we were dining with. The boat ride of the lake was beautiful, but there was no historical context or any commentary of life on the lake. Just a boat ride with Mexican music. It felt like we were herded from one place to another to spend our tourist dollars. On and off the bus. It would have been much better if we were taken directly to Ajijic and given a proper tour of the square and malecon with some historical perspective, and allowed to explore and find our own lunch places. I'm sure a boat ride on the lake would accommodate us after we explored the town for a couple of hours. The city of Chapala was the same. Very little context, very little explanation and a rushed visit to the town. We walked around a bit but ended up on the Malecon with no other purpose than to wait for the bus. Other things that were bothersome... the tour bus was basically a minivan. It was cramped, hot and uncomfortable. Spending 10 hours going on and off of this van was tedious especially for those who had mobility issues. It was a 2 hour drive back to Guadalajara which made for a long, uncomfortable ride. I have been on many Viator tours, and this was a huge disappointment. I do hope you would consider making changes that would benefit those who really want to explore both Chapala and Ajijic. For future expats, this was a disappointing trip and left us with nothing to assess our feelings of this part of Jalisco.
No call no show
Diane_B, Apr 2024
No one came to pick us up. So there was no experience. No one notified us that the trip was canceled. We took an uber to the pick up location. Was very disappointing . It was my only chance to take this tour as I am leaving this weekend.
For the price, it wasn't bad
Jonathan_M, Apr 2024
It was nice having a driver drop us off at different locations. The driver was nice and as others have mentioned, the dog was arubly the highlight. For the price, it wasn't bad. Would I take the tour again? No, but for people who are in Guadalajara for a very, very, very limited time and want to see some locations outside of the main city it is cheaper than paying for Uber rides. In addition you get to meet a lot of cool people who are also taking the tour. You are with a big group of people so the tour isn't tailored to a group or person but pre set by the tour. If you visit Tequila, this mandatory tequila tasting is a waste of time. The "brunch" restaurant wasn't great but was mandatory. It probably would have been better to provide a different restaurant or location with more options than seafood. Maybe a more authentic Tapatio experience but it has access to the boat which makes sense why it was mandatory. In summary, for the price, it isn't bad for people who want to say they tasted tequila, took a 10 minute boat ride and have pictures in each city.
Chapala/ Ajijic overview tour
Elia_L, Apr 2024
Great overview if you are looking to see a lot in this area in one day. Sufficient time was allowed in each area to get a general feel (20 mins in Vicente Fernandez ranch, tequila stop each and 1 hour in Chapala/Ajijic each.). Enough time in these beautiful towns to decide if you want to go back for more. Lunch was good with beautiful view. Enjoyed the quick boat ride.

Chapala Lake with Lana…
Isabel_B, Mar 2024
The tour was very entertaining and we saw some wonderful things in the Chapala lake area. The restaurant Juan Pablo works with is very good and the food was splendid (we had shrimp and octopus). Juan Pablo was a very organized and detailed guide but off course he can’t beat Lana (nobody can)…!!! Lana is Juan Pablo 8 year old Collie and she is a superstar. We loved meeting her. Overall was very pleasant experience and a must do when you come to Guadalajara. Thank you guys for a wonderful day.
Variety , quality at a great price

Average day out
Howard_L, Mar 2024
What I liked about it Our guide/driver was a real nice guys, the nice airconditioned van and the free time in Ajijic which is a lovely little town. What I didn't like The terrible restaurant you are taken to for lunch. Everyone left more than half of their food. Tasteless, some of it on the plate was frozen and some of it just plain cold. I was annoyed as I could have taken a nice lunch in Ajijic but was told not to by the guide. The boat ride on Lake Chapala was pointless. I was expecting to find out more about the lake and it's history etc. We just all sat there looking at each other wondering what was going on. I have rated this average as the next option was very good and it definitely wasn't that.

Nice day with great group of people
dhenderson, Mar 2024
The Vincente Fernandez Ranch is worth a see and the shop they have carrying the triple filtered Los Tres Portillos tequila that is a bit pricy at 1300 pesos but it is not sold other places they say but nor sure. Chapala and Ajijic are nice . The El Carnal restaurant I would rate a 4 on scale of 10. The lake ride is nice. The biggest problem with El Carnal and the lake as it really has some foul sewage orders. With a see once and hope the wind not blowing the smell in your face. The lake is extremely polluted. Our tour guide Javier was excellent with plenty of water, soft drinks and Tequila on board the van. The Casa Calera distileria was cute , tequila was ok. I would rate their blanco a 5 out of 10.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Thanks for the review, just a cople of things, if you didn´t like the lake beacuse you think is extremely polluted, thats not out fault, we take you there and try to make you enjoy as much as posible your day, also the tequila blanco you said 5 of 10, well we also dont produce te tequila, and you onle rate the one you didnt like, which seems not fear because you tried 7 more drinks there, also we dont produce the tequila. so my point is that your review is about things we dont control and not about the service we provide. I hope you can notice that and change your review.
Great timw
