Natural beauty in a historic island
Jackie_G, Apr 2024
I had read Pat Conroy's book The Water Is Wide many years ago and always wanted to see the setting of his story. The quaint unspoiled parts of the island were lovely but the real surprise was the lovely church tucked in the woods. I enjoyed hearing more about the Gullah culture.
Response from Host, Apr 2024
We are so glad you enjoyed experiencing Daufuskie Island and the beautiful church! We hope to see you again soon.

Disappointed with Daufuskie Tour
Cynthia_F, Apr 2024
Paid $575 for 5 people to go to Daufuskie 3/25. Trip was cancelled due to lack of payment. One person cancelled and found out the above. Booked 4 again and had to pay another fee when you had already got paid. Credit card company called and complaint filed. Trip cancelled 3/25 due to weather. Spent much time on MY vacation to try and fix problem but no one would listen. I will not recommend you company. People at port were outstanding on 3/29. Trip did not go to places my friend and I were told we would go to museum.
Pete Barbano, Master Captain Daufuskie Tour!
Patrice_F, Mar 2024
Pete was a great tour guide! The ride went smoothly. He was sharing information whole we were in the no wake zones and steering the boat smoothly as well. This helped me with my anxiety since the boat was small and I have a sun allergy. I didn't get in my head because he added humor and genuine interaction. He was extremely knowledgeable of the gullah and geeche people and respectful of the culture too. I would take his tour again!
Response from Host, Apr 2024
We are so glad you felt at easy with Captain Pete and enjoyed learning about the Daufuskie Culture! We hope to see you again soon.

Disappointing
Julie_Q, Mar 2024
Our trip was canceled due to weather, but were told if we could hurry to the docks there was another trip over to Daufuskie and the captain would wait for us. We rushed out and made a mad dash to join this other tour and the boat left without us, wasting our time…I still have not seen a refund to date, hoping they’ll get it back to my credit card soon.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Ensuring safety is our top priority, and we will always cancel a trip due to unsafe weather conditions. A refund was processed for you on March 21st. According to our records, your booking was made through Viator. If you have not received your refund yet, please contact them for further assistance.

Could have been better!
Gloria_M, Feb 2024
Dafuskie Island is really another world away. Tour guide, Cap. Mickey, was very personable and knowledgeable about Dafuskie. However, the price of $115.00 pp was not worth it. The description of the boat was misleading. There was no cover for sun protection. It was more of a skiff that sat 8 of us. So it was quite windy, cold and sometimes wet from the spray. The golf carts on the island were dirty and covered with pollen. Captain Mickey had a lot of knowledge to offer, but because there were 2 golf carts he could have used a microphone. We thought the entire island would also be included, such as a visit to the Freeport Harbor and Haig's Point area, but that wasn't the case. We toured all the historic areas which was stated in the ad. All in all, I would suggest taking another tour that used a better boat/ferry leaving from Harbor Town (a shorter ride over) as leaving from Shelter Cove took an hour in an uncomfortable boat! But we loved Dafuskie!
Response from Host, Mar 2024
We apologize for not meeting your expectations during this tour. Sadly we can't cover the entire island in a day, which is why it's stated that this tour is on the undeveloped side of the island. We apologize for the golf carts being dirty and will do our best to ensure that won't happen again. We appreciate your feedback and are constantly seeking ways to enhance our services. Thank you for your feedback!
Not what we expected but interesting!
Catherine_G, Feb 2024
This tour was very interesting but not what we expected. Captain Pete was very knowledgeable about the Island and was able to answer all of our questions. If you decide to take this tour off season be sure to wear long pants and a jacket. The ride out to the island is very chilly.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
We are glad to hear you found this trip with Captain Pete interesting and hopefully, you learned a lot of rich history! We hope to see you again soon.
