What To Expect

Your small-group tour begins with pickup from your accommodation in Izmir followed by a 3-hour drive to Pamukkale. Your first stop is “Cotton Castle” named for the white, terraced travertine formations filled with mineral-rich waters. Relax in the natural hot spring pools, just like Cleopatra is said to have done

Then, head to the ancient city of Hierapolis where you can learn about the Hellenistic and Roman empires that once ruled the region. See its recently restored theater and then opt for a stop to shop for jewelry, leather, carpets, or ceramics on the way back to Izmir. Your tour concludes back at your hotel.

Loved the tour

The tour was Great! The van that took us was very comfortable and our guide, Ezgi, really knew the historic facts and gave us a lot of information. I went to the tour for the travertines and I was really surprised by Hierapolis. There are many nice things to see there and we also loved the Cleópatra pool. I wish we would have 1 more hour there to enjoy the place for longer, but it was a lovely day! The lunch place was an open buffet and the food was delicious.

A must go when you visit Turkey

It was a pleasant journey to visit Pamukalle. We saw beautiful nature and the trip is on schedule. We were given 2 hours free time to explore ourselves which is not enough but its okay since we still have to drive back another 3 hours. The things that can be a bit better is the lunch provided. Lets say its too basic and not much choices. The guide Erman is very pleasant and explained everything during the trip.

Great Experience

Had booked the tour for myself and my wife. The agency promptly contacted us the evening before. Our guide for the day was Ezgi and the driver was Aykut. Both were very friendly and helpful. We found Ezgi to be very knowledgeable even though it was her first tour. We highly recommend this to everyone. Our only suggestion is that perhaps more details on the history of the area would be very useful.

Overall great experience

Great experience with the knowledgeable Selim! He is always ready to provide any information about the history and local recommendations. It was drizzling during our tour but everything was well planned. We opted for the buggy service because the walk could be challenging for my father’s heart & legs. There’s a total of two groups so our journey was quite neat. There was sufficient time for us to explore the Travertine. Also because we went in December so it was cold and off-peak. We were given short breaks in between the drives (approximately 3hrs each) to and from Izmir. Thank you for the recommendations for food, restaurants and places to visit. Highly recommended 😊

A good day spent in Pamukkale- could have been better!

Pamukkale is a long drive away from Izmir, so this trip was about 7 hours of driving. Hierapolis is a huge enclave of several sights and monuments, which is pretty cool. Pamukkale itself is a beautiful natural white-stone formation and lovely to explore. However, a big knock against it is that it's super crowded. People are pushing and shoving each other on the slippery surface. I saw many people fall down. Another issue, is that it's extremely hot. The white surface reflects the sunlight so it gets super super warm. It got uncomfortable very quickly. Our guide today was Selim. And sorry to say but it wasn't the best experience. Some people in our party could not hike up the mountain for the amphitheater so they were left out completely. The guide made no attempt to make them feel included. No information on how Pamukkale was formed was given. He did not even offer to take pics of us in any of the locations, instead just walking ahead, on and on. Selim seemed like he was not super interested, so that was a bummer.

Very good experience

Very well organised tour, our guide was so friendly and helpful. It’s a very long drive from Izmir to Pamukkale and from departure to when you we had lunch it was more than 6 hours so please prepare some snacks or light foods yourself. There was a shopping section included in the end of the tour but if you don’t buy anything it could be really quick and it was on the way back so not much a big issue.

Fantastic trip to Pammukale. Our tour guide Erman Uslu and driver Can made our trip extremely pleasant, knowledgable and very enjoyable. The drive to Pammukale is 3 hours from Izmir and Can made it so safe and relaxing for us both ways. Erman is extremely knowledgable, passionate about tourism and his job, and is very friendly. He kept us so well informed about history and geography of Turkey and later about Pammukale and city of Hieropolis, its history, geography abd civilisation. We visited all the sites at Pammukale. Erman also was able to organise a last minute paragliding activity over Pammukale for us. Absolutely fantastic tour. 5 star

Erman was a fantastic guide with a lot of knowledge and we thoroughly enjoyed the day trip. Lots of options prior to arriving during the 3 1/2 hr road trip and definitely take the golf cart option at Pamukkale as there is a lot of walking. Highly recommend this day trip we thoroughly enjoyed.

The tour was composed of 2 parts: the travel from the pick-up point (Izmir in this case) and the visit (Hierapolis+travertines+Cleopatra's bath, the latter with an extra fee). The experience was great. The time spent on the site was sufficient, but you have to expect a lot of time spent travelling because the city is a little bit far away. Hat and water recommended!

Recommend day trip to Pamukkale and Hierapolis

Pamukkale Tour from Izmir is recommended if you’ve little time in Izmir but you don’t really want to miss out Pamukkale and Hierapolis. Travel agency provides pick you and drop off at your hotel in Izmir’s centre. You don’t spend much time in Pamukkale/Hierapolis but it is quite understandable since it takes 3 hours each way to get there.

Driver was an excellent and safe driver wnich made the journey all the more enjoyable. I especially liked the fact that tne driver was immediately ready to assist with exiting the van. Guide, Esra, was amazing. Her knowledge of Heiropolis archeology was deep, and sne went out of ner way to research a question so that she could share it with us. Esra was very enthusiasric with all parts of the journey. This was a good tour with one drawback, time constraints. From Izmir it was a long drive tnere and back so time onsjte was limited. Limited, yes, but Esra made tne most a d best use of onsite time.
