Hike on a glacier - and in a crevasse!
Janelle_S, Oct 2023
The glacier is stunning up close, with all the different colors and textures and features of the ice. It's also really cool to see the uncovered rocks. There weren't a ton of options to stop and take photos, but I feel like I got the essentials. Hike is steady uphill, up a trail and then up the glacier - easy for regular hikers, but may make others out of breath. Not slippery at all with the crampons they provide everyone. This is a unique way to see the glacier and its ice features up close.
Not one of our better experiences

Two stars for the must see glacier, but our guide had no empathy at all, so word of warning to all, if you are not young, super fit, and active take some other tour.
Response from Host, Oct 2023
I'm sorry this was your experience. Our guides do their best to accommodate people that walk at a slower pace, taking time for photos and interpretive stops along the way. Our tours are described as moderate in difficulty with sections of steep uneven ground. The tour is suitable to people who are active in their daily lives with no major health or mobility issues.
Amazing experience - recommend going!

Great experience up to the glacier! Got to explore different formations. Nick was a brilliant tour guide and provided lots of interesting facts.
Spectacular

The beauty of the glacier. Something not everyone gets to experience especially future generations. Verycold but added to the experience.
Hey, it’s not everyday you get to hike on a glacier! Definitely a bucket list item!
Dave_M, Sep 2023
Our guide Heather was great! Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, helpful and mindful of the clients. I did it and thoroughly enjoyed it but at 72 years old I felt I was slowing the group down a bit as it was near the limit of my physical capabilities.
Awesome experience

Jason is an awesome guide. Takes safety of his tourists seriously. This was a more moderate hike, not easy, we enjoyed it thoroughly and took lots of pictures.
Heather is a great guide....
Robert_M, Sep 2023
Heather is a great guide. We went higher and spent more time on the glacier than we had anticipated and were very pleased. We were there to get a little talk from the NASA team on the glacier.
wonderful glacier tour guide, meeting point needs to setup a bigger sign.
Jennifer_Y, Sep 2023
walking on the glacier was exciting, Viator company is very honest, one of our friends cannot continue on walk once we started climbing up the hill. Viator refund the money to her right away.

All the information...

All the information provided by the tour guide. Great stories and data on the glacier. He brought a lot of knowledge and experience on the current status of climate and glacier conservation
Icewalk was a highlight of our trip
Matt_K, Sep 2023
The hike on the glacier was absolutely a highlight of our trip to the Canadian Rockies. There are not many places where an average person can walk on a glacier and we are so glad we took advantage of this one. Our guide Nick was supremely knowledgeable about all things glacier-related and that was great because we had so many questions. Just as importantly, he made sure everyone was safe at all times. The pace was reasonable with plenty of rest stops filled with Nick sharing his knowledge and answering questions so don't be too scared by the physical exertion required.
New experience that will never be forgotten
Barry_E, Sep 2023
Seeing the deep ravines and deep blue color beneath the glacier . Our guide was truly interested in having us see things that are slowly vanishing
Warning: STEEP climb to the glacier!
Sandra_B, Sep 2023
Very important!!! Viator says that this is easy and suitable for children and seniors. However, IceWalks states, correctly, that this is MODERATE difficulty, with steep sections of rocky trail to approach the glacier. Additionally, if you normally hike with poles, bring them! You will need them for the approach to the glacier. The hike on the glacier itself is much easier and beautiful! Our guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable.
Epic life experience

Awesome tour - worth the time
Jennifer_B, Sep 2023
Larry was a great guide - had lots of interesting facts to share and kept us engaged while we made our way during the tour. We went further up than expected and got to see some cool features up close. Overall a great time!
The weather was awful but...
Kim_C, Sep 2023
The weather was awful but the experience was wonderful. Much harder hike than I expected. Rough terrain getting to the glacier. Larry our guide was fantastic.
Ice Walk Very ‘Cool’
Terri_S, Sep 2023
Spent a good amount of time on the glacier. So cool to see the turquoise color of the ice and the water flowing on it and through it and under it. And to see the interesting shapes in the crevasses that the melting ice makes. Guide was excellent.
Great day on the glacier
Daniel_G, Sep 2023
A once in a lifetime experience. Our guide Rupert made us feel safe and went out of his way to help us experience and understand glaciers. Highly recommend.
Something to remember
amb1191, Sep 2023
Bucket List experience, over 2hrs walking on the glacier. If you have the fitness and time then you get so much more time on the Glacier than with the bus. Our guide Rupert was professional and very knowledgeable.
Amazing!
Heather_A, Sep 2023
Rupert was an amazing guide. With the experience he has in avalanche rescue and ice climbing his stories and insight into the glacier as well as the geology and history were wonderful! It was such an amazing experience walking on that glacier and we would do it again with this team!
