  • Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
  • This tour is not recommended for young children: The Wildlife Tour is typically geared more towards adults, providing educational commentary along the way. While wildlife sightings are frequent, the experience differs significantly from a zoo visit. Due to the unpredictable nature of wild animals, sightings occur intermittently during the 3-hour tour and vary from day to day. Based on our observations, young children often become restless as there are no scheduled stops on this vehicle-based tour. Therefore, we recommend a minimum age of 5 years. Although not recommended, children and infants under 5 years old are welcome, provided a seat is purchased for them at the child rate (all passengers regardless of age are required to be allocated a seat on the bus). For those bringing infants, we recommend bringing a baby carrier which can be secured with the provided seat belts on our buses.
  • This tour/activity will have a maximum of 20 travelers

Maybe lucky but fantastic experience
Doreen_J, Dec 2023
We visited in early September when wildlife was active so we saw lots of elk and deer but the highlight was the bear who was on his way into town for an evening forage. To be up close to such an animal was a real privilege. Note though that you never get off the minibus to view the animals which I think is fair as he animals welfare should come first. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable so the three or so hours flew by. He went out of his way to find wildlife for us and didn't disappoint. I would recommend this trip as a good way of seeing more of the area surrounding Jasper first and foremost. The fact we saw so many animals even surprised our guide somewhat so I think we were just lucky to a certain extent but it was an excellent experience as a result. Maligne Adventures is a good company being reliable and well-organised so I would definitely recommend them too.
Guide put in a lot of effort to try and see as much as we could!
demibuchanan9, Oct 2023
Given this tour is based on knowledge of usual stomping grounds for animals and luck, I really appreciated that the guide did everything they could with the allotted hours driving us to try and find all animals —and I was surprised by how long they gave us to stop and take photos. Much appreciated!
An amazing way to get up...
Adam_K, Oct 2023
An amazing way to get up close and personal with brown bears. The small groups and topless jeeps are just perfect for viewing. We saw 7 bears and I highly recommend this tour!

It's up to the Wildlife
Linda_P, Sep 2023
Just be aware that you only get out of the coach for a restroom break as you're not allowed to get off the coach to view the wildlife. So don't go dressed for outdoors, it gets very hot in the coach. Also, as Jake our driver and excellent tour guide said, it's all up to the wildlife for this tour - nothing is guaranteed. We did though manage to see moose, elk and deer.
Response from Host, Sep 2023
You're absolutely right; wildlife sightings are unpredictable, and while we cannot guarantee specific sightings, our guides, like Jake, do their best to provide a memorable experience for our guests. It's great to hear that you managed to see moose, elk, and deer during your tour.We appreciate your feedback and hope that you consider joining us again in the future for another wildlife adventure.

Excellent guide knew where to spot deer, elk, and moose!
f1race43, Sep 2023
Kelly, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and knew the best places to look for wildlife. We saw deer, elk, and moose during our tour in September. Spring is the best time to spot bears, so it was not surprising that we did not see any in September. Kelly was very experienced (7 years in Jasper) and respected the regulations regarding animal encounters (we could photograph from the bus door and windows, but could not get off the bus to move closer). There was a nice bathroom break at the 6th bridge over Maligne Canyon which also allowed a chance to stretch about 2/3 of the way through the tour.
Response from Host, Sep 2023
Thank you for sharing your experience with Kelly as your guide. It's fantastic to hear that Kelly's extensive knowledge and expertise led to successful wildlife sightings during your tour in September. We're pleased that you found the bathroom break and chance to stretch during the tour convenient and enjoyable.

Charging around main roads and car parks expecting an animal to jump out. No structure to the tour, guide had no viewing points or prepared with binoculars, full of rambling stories and ending up in back streets of Jasper looking for bears
Response from Host, Sep 2023

Tour guide Kelly was excellent! Saw plenty of elk, sadly no bears but it isn’t likely to see them anyway. Kelly gave us information for the entire 3 hour tour about a range of things (namely the wildlife and info on the forests and trees) and was so friendly, polite and entertaining! I’d do the tour again if we could have Kelly! Thanks for an interesting and informative evening.
