What To Expect

Your 2-hour glass-bottomed-boat tour from Key Largo begins when you make your own way to the designated meeting point and board your boat. Choose a comfy seat on board the large motorized yacht, which has both indoor and outdoor seating. Admire the views and the fresh air from seating on deck, or retreat to the comfort of the air-conditioned cabin.

The journey out to the reef takes about 45 minutes, which is an ideal amount of time to grab a drink from the full-service bar. Once you’re at the Key Largo National Marine Sanctuary, get unobstructed views of the reef and its colorful resident fish from the yacht’s glass viewing area. Learn about the ecosystem from your guide, and enjoy an immersive look at the underwater world without getting wet.

Fun on the Reef

My two sisters and I decided to do the glass bottom boat while our spouses were out deep-sea fishing. We had a great trip, much better than our spouses. The captains were both very nice and knowledgeable. The boat ride out and back from the reef was so much fun. We really enjoyed riding over the coral reef, it was very pretty. I would definitely recommend this excursion.

Day at sea

Really enjoyed being over the reef and seeing the fish that were there and the guides narration of what we were seeing. It , would’ve been nice to have had more time at the reef itself. Good value for the price!

Fun but short

The boat and the ride were fun but the trip is too short in duration. 45 minute boat run each way only leaves 30 minutes over the reef for a 2 hour excursion. It seems that we had just arrived when they turned around and we headed back to the dock .It should be lengthened to spend more time over the reef. Staff was great.

Had a great time. Not all in my family feel comfortable snorkeling and this offered them a way to still see a reef and all of its wildlife. The 45 minute trip to the reef was relaxing. We decided to stay below deck (where the large glass bottom windows are) for the first part of the return trip after leaving the reef, and it was great because that was actually when we saw a sea turtle and a few rays!

The staff wasn't as friendly as they could have been. They seem to have had enough with tourists. The boat ride was fun despite the boat needing some obvious repairs. The glass bottom boat was OK but it was not exactly as advertised. There was only glass on the bottom , not the windows. The windows actually were very dirty ad in need of basic cleaning.

Rough waters ruined boat ride

The ride started out enjoyably and was too rough when we got out by the coral reefs. This is not a good trip if the weather is rough. Quite a few people were affected with motion sickness on this trip.

Good buy needs warning

It was good, but I think they really need to warn people about the seasickness. I saw a lot of older people who were having trouble and it didn’t hit us till the day after. And we had just been on a cruise ship for a week. I don’t think people have much fun. It probably ruins the rest of their vacation if they get sick.
