Very nice walking tour of Como. Our guide Chiara was terrific. She was knowledgeable and very friendly. We tasted a variety of foods, drank some wine and learned some history of the area.

Unfortunately our tour guide just didn't get it, didn't listen, didn't stop talking and didn't read the group. The food was ok, wasn't fantastic, our group was great and had fun but not one of the best food tours.

The guide was very nice. Food selection was not very good, except for gelato. If you’re not a coffee drinker, there was nothing to substitute. Rather a disappointing tour except for the company.

Good morning, thank you for participating in our tour. We are glad to hear that you had a good time with the guide. As for the food, we find it strange that the ice cream was the best thing, because the places we go to are carefully selected for their high quality. As for coffee, our tour is meant to be an authentic experience, and in Italy after lunch or dinner you drink coffee. We do not drink cappuccinos, teas or other similar beverages. Offering tastings or drinks that do not represent the classic traditional "meal" would distort the experience. I hope to see you again!

Not what I expected

Our tour was canceled due to illness of a tour guide. That being said, they scrambled to find a replacement for a different time, the night before. If I had to do it over, I would have just canceled. We felt rushed in the first restaurant, they asked us to leave bc they had another table coming in. They split one bottle of wine between 7 people! The host was nice, but not super helpful in giving us different info on food and wine we were consuming. It was definitely less of an experience than we thought it would be, based on the description. It would be helpful to make more of a point when booking to tell people about the after dinner drink coupon instead of leaving 1 single person at the table without one or even offering the option to have them pay for it then.

Good morning, thank you for the feedback which we will use to improve our service. We are sorry for the initial mishap, indeed the guide got sick and we had to change the day of the experience. Regarding the rush in the first restaurant, count that the experience lasts about 3 hours in which we have to stop at 4/5 different restaurants so we have a schedule we have to keep. Regarding the extra drinks, we are sorry there was confusion. We are working so that the tour will be improved and also the customer will be clear about what is included and what is not. Hope to see you again :)

Chiara was very informative about Como, and the foods and wines we enjoyed. There was 10 of us altogether with others from the US and three from Switzerland. We got along great and explored each others cultures which was very interesting especially about Switzerland and origins of the language they speak.

Don’t waste the money

What we thought we were getting and what we got was NOT worth $225 and we could have walked ourselves for the same experience. Our tour guide was great- very personable but we expected a food and wine pairing and we went to a wine bar for the first stop (which was good- had wine and meats) but the 2nd stop was just a pizza place (pick one any one) and drinks (alcohol or non) were not included! The 3rd stop was the main course and again, had to figure out our own wine and the service was so-so. At that point Chiara asked if we bought the the drink package and that was never even offered! Our 4th spot was a gelato cone and we didn’t even go for the 5th stop, which was coffee. Como has a plethora of great restaurants you can find so easily though on your own. Save your money on this one.

Good morning, We thank you for participating. We will use your review to improve our service. In general, we are very happy that you get along with our guide! We would like to clarify a couple of points about the costs and the food/wine included: what you pay is NOT what we collect. Commissions through Viator are deducted from what you pay (and it is around 30% of the amount). From which you have to subtract the price of food and the cost of the guide who accompanies you for 3.5 hours. I therefore invite you to reevaluate the consideration of the price of the tour. The complaint seems to me to stem from not having wine included in each stop. As per the description, however, wine is included in fixed amount and water is always included. We are sorry if the description regarding this aspect was not clear, we will certainly take this as a cue for improvement. The places we go to are carefully selected by locals and are of the highest quality. They are NOT tourist places, frequented by locals and often not on the main streets, so not very easy to find for those not from como. So we are not sure you could have walked ourselves for the same experience Anyway, we would love to see you again in one of our cities so that you can change your mind :)

Not worth the price

The tour guide was great, but this was not what we expected. It said it included wine and water. There is no way the cost of what we paid even equaled what we were given. They wanted us to eat with no drinks (unless we pay for it). We thought it was more of a wine/food pairing. We just did apps (with a small glass of wine), pizza, pasta and then gelato. We paid over $200 for 2 people plus tip. The guide showed us around a bit, but not to any special locations. She said they were family owned, but we never met any family members of the restaurants besides the first wine shop. Not worth what we paid for.

Good morning, Thank you for participating in our Como tour. We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the experience. We understand from the review that the biggest problem was the non-inclusion of alcohol at all the stops. As it is specified in the product, water is always included while wine is included in fixed amounts. This means that in some stops it is included in others it is not. However, water is always included. You made four stops: aperitif with wine and cold cuts, pizza, pasta/polenta, ice cream. The places chosen are all family-based, not tourist places (of which Como is unfortunately full). That said, when we arrive at the restaurants they are on duty hours and do not always have time to tell their story at the table. That's why our local expert should be there and inform you about their stories, the food tradition, etc. If you felt that you did not receive enough explanation we are sorry and we will definitely try to improve this aspect. We hope to see you again soon and change your mind :)

Interesting first stop at Wine shop - but the rest was basic and not very informative. Even the guide admitted that locals struggle to find interesting restaurants in Como

Chiara was amazing. We were staying in Bellagio and accidentally took a slow boat to Como. She let us join late. The company was wonderful. One couple was from Canada and one from South Africa. That was honestly the best part. The wine was second. The food was third. The food was definitely not worth the money, but the company and the cultural experience was worth the trip. We got stuck in Como due to no transportation being available after 2100, so maybe only book this if you are staying in Como or want to buy a hotel for the night like we did.

Hard to find without the winery name. Suggest to charge a fee for a pickup. Very hard to walk up hill for a long time in hot weather.

Corrine was a lot of fun - she fed us well and we drank too much! We went to 4 different places - even my picky teenagers liked the food choices! Talking to someone local is the best way to get a feel for the place you are visiting. Would highly recommend :)
