What To Expect

Leave the Lake Garda region in the morning and sit back and relax on the journey south to the city of Verona. Known as the city of love, Verona is famous for its links to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet but it’s also home to astonishing Roman ruins, Renaissance art, and operatic heritage.

Learn all about the city as you explore landmark-thronged squares like Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza dei Signori. See Juliet’s House (Casa di Giulietta) with its famous balcony, and hear fun facts about the house that’s dedicated to Shakespeare’s iconic love story.

See the Ponte Pietra, and admire Verona’s vast Roman amphitheater that’s known simply as the Arena. The stadium is thought to have seated around 30,000 spectators in its heyday.

After lunch, enjoy some time at leisure to browse the chic shops of Via Mazzini. Later, head back to your coach for the journey back to your start point in the Lake Garda region.

Great city, great tour. Alex was our tour guide and he was very informative, he was was really helpful also. Verona trip was great, guided walk was really interesting also
Verona visited in the wet and dry, an interesting City.

We started out in pouring rain. Gabrialla led our tour and provided perfect guidance in English. Thankfully for the City centre walking tour it had dried up and we had a full English speekibg guide. This lady had a lot of valuable information but her mild delivery meant only those close to her would have heard. The arena was amazing, concerts held there now over the summer months bringing in 4-500,000 guests per year and all the associated revenue for Verona. We concluded with a visit to the Romeo & Julliet square and the famous balcony. A great days trip despite the terrible wet start.
Excellent day out

Verona is a beautiful city. The Viator tour is very organised and we would recommend the day out. The guide is very informative. As we are older and were travelling from Riva Del Garda we appreciated the toilet stop on the way and if people wanted could grab a quick coffee or drink.
Day trip to Verona

A great trip with an informative and very friendly guide. The walking tour was good (sometimes hard to hear with the number of tourists in the centre/ traffic but the headphones did help). Great to have free time and was enough for us to go up the tower, the castle bridge for views, see Juliette’s balcony, the arena and have a leisurely drink watching the world go by. Thanks for a great day!
Visit to Verona

A worthwhile day visit to Verona. The City Guide tour was excellent with Leonardo who spoke so passionately about his locality. The guide on the bus was pleasant and funny but often smoked when ‘on duty’ which wasn’t professional.

Waste of Money - Do it yourself
Alan_O, Jun 2023
To pay the almost £50 per person for this trip is a scandal. We had a 1 hour guided tour not the 2 hours quoted and there were no headphones (as we saw with other groups) again as quoted so we had to huddle close to the guide. In total we were given 4 hours "free time" to do our own thing. So, in summary, we had a coach trip of about an hour each way and a 1 hour guided tour for the money. You can easily take a (cheap) bus or train to Verona yourself and a bit of research beforehand plus a visit to the tourist office in the centre of Verona for a free map and you can see all the things we saw on the guided tour at your own pace!

Hello, thank you for your review which gives me the opportunity to respond describing what our tour includes. The tour includes a round-trip transfer from Lake Garda to Verona, with no stops along the way (as indeed the public bus does, taking at least twice as long). It includes a full-day guide, who will take care of organizing the day and giving you historical notions about Verona, the Arena and its Roman history. It will take you from the bus park to the city center of Verona in 10 minutes on foot and return in the afternoon. Free time from 11:00 (arrival time in Verona) until 13:00 where the meeting with the guide will take place directly in Piazza Bra, a stone's throw from the Arena. The walking tour with the city guide lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Making it last longer is counterproductive with a temperature of 37 degrees like our summer days. Visiting a city learning about what you see is only possible with a tour organized by an official guide of Verona. If you are not interested in history and culture (like you) then I do not recommend this tour. From 14:30 to 16:30 free time. Meeting with the guide, departure for return by bus to Lake Garda

The highlight of the tour was visiting the Arena, the guided walking tour and visiting Juliets Balcony. The guide on the bus was also very informative on the journey to Verona.
A mix of culture, history and high end fashion

Verona is a beautiful City. Our guide Alessandro was fabulous and very knowledgeable. Verona is a beautiful City. Seeing the Arena was splendid and we walked to the Cathedral too. A beautiful place. We switched to a local guide in Verona, again knowledgeable. However it was difficult to hear through the audio equipment, despite trying to adjust the volume, and understand his English accent. I picked up the gist of what was being said, but my companion hardly heard any of the tour. A good experience - I would have awarded 5 if we had understood the walking tour.

We were unprepared for our tour to be in both German and English. Since our bus was 95% German, obviously this language dominated the information. We were dropped off in the main square of Verona and given 2 hours of free time - without much guidance on where to go and what to see. The tour guides did a good job flipping the two languages but by the time he got to English, we had passed the landmark he was talking about!
Response from Host, Jan 2020
Dear guest, i'm sorry you got not the experiences you wished.. The trip is always available in English and German because of the main guests in this area! We always try to explan in the better way all the languages because for us the 5% of the eglish guys (on that date.. usually is half english and half german guests) is important as the 95% of german ones.. Verona is a beautiful city close to the Lake and we believe that 2 hours in the morning as free time is perfect to start to discover the Piazza Bra and the Arena at your leisure.. have a italian coffe and a selfie with the roman ancient soldier! Go to the toilet, let's have a walk to Castelvecchio and much more before have the City tour with the guide in Via Mazzini, Piazza Erbe, Piazza Dante, Juliet house and more! Anyway, thank you to your review, is important for us to improve our business! We will inform our guide and i'm pretty sure the next time she will give you more information on how to spend the free time there! Thank you,, visit us again to more trip! Dolomites and Lake Garda Cruise have been very appreciated in the last year! Best regards
Lovely city

We spent a lovely day in Verona. Our guide on the bus was very entertaining while the guide who showed us Verona was born and bred there so he was very informative. One has enough time to browse around by oneself.

Enjoyed our trip to Verona! Pick up and return was fine! Would have preferred to have done the walking tour on arrival so that I had time to return to any places of interest! As it was I felt the day a bit rushed as you had to watch your time all day for tour then pick up home! Our guide was very nice but I constantly lost track of her description of buildings, history etc because her English was not that good! Verona is a beautiful city but and I m glad I took the time to see it!
