Learn about Amish culture in Pennsylvania's Lancaster County on this tour and dining experience. You'll explore the countryside to see historical landmarks and then meet a local Amish family for a sit-down home-cooked meal, where you'll have the chance to observe their way of life on a farm. The tour is designed by a local resident who grew up as a Mennonite outside Strasburg, PA, and whose father was born Amish. Times and dates may be subject to change due to scheduling with the families.

This unique cultural experience begins early in the afternoon. Find your guide at the centrally located meeting point near the Discover Lancaster Visitors Center, hop aboard your vehicle, and set off with just a small group for company, without needing to travel independently.
As you drive past some of Lancaster’s scenic highlights—including its historical covered bridges—your guide will bring the area’s history to life. They’ll also provide an in-depth introduction to Amish culture, history, and traditions, which make this part of Pennsylvania so distinctive.
More than just a sightseeing trip through the area, this two-part excursion includes the special opportunity to dine at the home of an Amish family: something most visitors don’t get to experience. Upon arriving at the family’s home, head inside and sit down for a hearty, home-cooked meal. You’ll have the chance to taste a range of traditional Amish dishes, and enjoy your hosts’ hospitality, during a shared meal.
Finally, return to your vehicle and head back to the original departure point, where this experience ends.

Food was fantastic but I would have liked to actually talk to the residents, only the people who sat next to them were able to converse wirh them.

I enjoyed the tour and the most memorable and loving thing was to sit down and have lunch with an Amish family they were very friendly and warm I really appreciate it my time it was second to none

Our guide Jaime was great. He was totally knowledgeable about the history of the Amish. He was personable and made the trip a great experience. The host family and their children were great. Food was amazing. We all had a great time. My grandkids totally enjoyed the experience

Our guide Mike was most knowledgeable about the Amish & Mennonite history and way of life. The van was comfortable and clean. The scenery was beautiful. Our host family, the Beilers, were very friendly, welcoming, and open to questions and conversation. The meal and dessert was plentiful and very delicious. It was truly a wonderful tour and experience.
My only complaint is that tickets through Viator were $10 higher than if purchased from the Get Our Guide site. Not cool.

Dale did an absolutely incredible job bringing the history of the region to life for us. Explaining the history from its roots in Europe through the settlements here with must additional Pennsylvania history.
The meal with Sarah was exquisite... home cooked finery at its best... chicken, meatloaf, potatoes and on and on. Each dish prepared to guarantee to make you want to come beck for more.
The tour in its entirety was definitely one of the highlights of our trip...we highly recommend it.

Very authentic experience. Family was very lovely. Meal was delicious. Even though the children said very little, I think they enjoyed our company and walked us out to the barn and lead us to where their bunnies were.

Thanks for the great review! We appreciate it and are happy for the positive feedback. Depending on their age, Amish children often are not fluent in English. For them it's a second language that they learn primarily once they begin school. Before that, their exposure is mostly to Pennsylvania Dutch, which they speak in their households and amongst themselves.

I highly enjoyed this experience and will definitely return! The family was wonderful, and inviting. Their kids were very kind, well-mannered, and playful. The food was so great! I left super full. The couple was extremely open and informative about their way of life and took the time to get to know each of us and our own livlihoods. I learned so much and enjoyed the whole experience. Try this experience out for yourself! You really dive into their lives for a moment and learn a lot about the Amish community.
