As the trip was nice, I signed up for Paris on my own but this is not what I got . I was not able to do it on my own,

We basically paid for transportation into Paris from Le Havre, and were guaranteed to get back to the ship on time. We arrived around 11 am and had to be back on the bus by 3 pm. That all worked well, until someone on our bus asked the driver where the Louvre was. He drove us there, and then drove around Paris for an hour pointing out different points of interest. Traffic in Paris was horrendous, so we actually didn't start leaving the city until 4 pm and had to be ON the ship by 6:30 pm. We all knew it was impossible. There were 13 very panicky passengers on that bus! One passenger actually called the ship, but since this wasn't a ship-sponsored shore excursion, they would not guarantee us that they'd wait. We did NOT make it back on time; however, there were two other late buses that were sponsored by the cruise line, so the ship was waiting for them and we got very lucky. The trip back definitely put a damper on an otherwise fun, self-guided tour around Paris.
