Great tour from Lido Tours with Marco as our guide and driver. We were picked up from our hotel on time in a clean minibus with plenty of leg room. The day (8.30am till 5pm) went so fast as Marco made it so interesting including pointing out the local flora and fruit trees. He even went on flight radar to check what planes would be active while we were above the extended airport. All the stops were worth stopping at with just the right amount of time allowed at each stop. We would definitely recommend this trip.

It was a fantastic tour!...

It was a fantastic tour! Incredible experience!🩷 Thank you for our guide, he was very kind and friendly!😇💜💚
Mad about Madeira.

Van was a bit to high for my handicapped body, but all when well. Pretty landscape, banana beer, and nice group. Thank you for a great trip.
Beatiful views, windy cliffs and green Levadas.
Aleksandra_L, Apr 2024
- I was pick-up from the bus stop near the Palacio da Justica on time. - The tour guide was great. He answered all my questions and told many interesting things about Madeira and places we visited during the trip. - I really loved Levada dos Balcões. Walking through the forest with a lot of ferns reminded me of rainforests. It took around 20 minutes to get to the viewpoint with the most amazing view over mountain valley. If you like feeding wild birds, take some sunflowers seeds and allemonds. - Take something warm if you go to the Pico de Arieiro and Miradouro da Ponta do Rosto. It was very, and I mean very strong, cold wind that day. It is not common but keep it in mind.
Great trip

What a great trip to some amazing places. The sort of places I would never have visited otherwise. Our driver/ guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and really brought the trip to life.
Great tour of the East of Madeira
Guy_P, Mar 2024
This was a great tour which gave an insight to much of the East of the island. The guide was informative, friendly and helpful. A very enjoyable day out.
Good value fun day out.

Great tour. Left on time. Informative and safe driver with excellent knowledge of plants and trees. Managed to get parked at all the stops where we wouldn't have had a chance with a hire car. Comfortable minibus. Wouldn't recommend for people with mobility issues as there is quite a lot of uneven ground and steps to catch some of the views. Very enjoyable.
east of madeira

the traditional houses in santana. view over funchal, after that conditions got worse. driver guide was ok.
It was nice
Lina_V, Oct 2023
It was nice, although I prefer the west tour. The guide had a good sense of humor. Was operated by Lido tours. They don’t pick up from a hotel but a bus stop that was 10 min walk for us so that’s a bit misleading.
Kgood overview of the area with a friendly guide
Stefanie_W, Sep 2023
Good explanations. Our guide was fluent in english and portuguise and performed the tour simultaniously in both languages. Unfortunatly due to the language barrier contact with the other guests in this group was extremly difficult, which was just a pitty during the lunch break we had together.
Fabulous

Fabulous trip out... mountains, thatched cottages, beautiful coastlines... what's no to like... oh and a very good and informative guide...
Lovely day trip.

Lovely trip around the east of the island, lots of stunning view points and Bruno was a great driver.
where to wear the Madeira costume
Maria_B, Jul 2023
The excursion was great. The driver - Nuno - was full of experience in both drive and history, botany, geology and architecture of the place. The photos are of myself in the costume - it was my dream to wear it here. The excursion is the best as along with the costume the Santana houses are featured on postcards and in the airport. Madeira island is a complete Portugal experience: the wine, the levadas - of which my dream was since the 1990s when a professional photographer in Germany had a slide show - the costume, the Santana houses, the flowers - a green space is similar to a green house without roof you can sit in - and flower selllers, the volcanic geology. Additionally a Santana house is a flower shop. The levadas and the water system in general connected to wine were shown in an invited lecture at the CEES 2023 conference which i attended previously and was happy to see them live.
Some lovely viewing points
Helen_I, May 2023
Picked up from the cable car at 8.30am then spent about another 30-45 minutes picking up other passengers. Visited a few viewing points along the coast and stopped in a town to see the rum factory. Drove on to Santana where we had 1 hour 30 minutes to have lunch and a wander around. Next to the mountains and another view point but it was that cloudy and drizzly you couldn't see anything so we didn't stop. Last stop was a town called Camacho which wasn't needed as there was nothing there. First half of the tour was better than the second but we still got to see some lovely spots across the east of the island.
Great day out
Craig_P, Mar 2023
Really good guide, stops had just the right amount of time, lots to see in one day. Price very reasonable.
Wonder

Wonderful! Guide great, friendly and lots of information. Lots of things to see and a beautiful part of the island. Highly recommended.
Excellent tour of the East
William_S, Mar 2023
Nuno was a brilliant guide. Full of knowledge but made it fun! The tour was excellent; got to see all the best bits of the East of the island. Plenty of time in each location so it never felt rushed. Lots of toilets and refreshments in each location.
Nice entertainment and information about the island in 8 hours.
Silke_G, Feb 2023
Great tour entertainment and information provided by Bruno in various languages, our tour was English and German. There is a reasonable number of stops and generally enough time to take in all the beauty of the "miradouros".
A good trip covering most of the east
David_H, Jan 2023
A good choice of east tour which covered the main sites. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the island and gave a lot of info about vegetation, land-use, history etc. Unfortunately it was too cloudy to visit Pico de Arieiro, Madeira’s third-highest peak, so alternative stops were arranged to make up for this. Spent 2 hours in Santana which is too long for what there is there, even allowing for lunch. Would definitely pick this tour again tho’ you need to appreciate that changes in weather can alter this experience from one day to the next.
Houses in Santana. Views...
lindavaleriesmith, Jan 2023
Houses in Santana. Views along the drive. Stopping places good. Commentary was informative from Marco. Explaining historic, natural history and knowledge of Madeira. Was a lovely day out. Weather not so good but that is just bad luck on our part
Fascinating overview of the East of Madeira.
