Perfect Day in Marrakech
Craig B, Apr 2019
Super friendly and knowledgeable guide made for not only a perfect day of sightseeing but also an education in the culture and history of the city and its people. Our family of 4 were joined by 4 other visitors so made it almost a personal experience. Had lovely lunch on a roof top terrace overlooking the city which made a nice surprise and restful break. There was plenty of time to explore on our own, take photos and soak up the atmosphere especially at the end of the day overlooking the Jamaa El-Fina Square as it came to life. Always felt safe and never troubled.

DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR
Kervine_A, Mar 2019
I should have listened when I read the most recent reviews for this tour; however, as I always had a good experience with tours that I book through Viator, I decided to go for it. The tour guide was very rude. He would bring us (me and 6 other people) to a site and just disappear. He never presented himself to us. I had to ask him for his name mid-tour. He took us to a place to buy argan oil, and come to find out, the oil (which was expensive) was not pure argan oil. I didn't finish the tour and requested to go back to the hotel because it really was not enjoyable.
This was the worst tour we ever took part.
Gyula_T, Mar 2019
From 9 to 12 three famous sights were visited, then lunch and the souks. Very little, practically no information was given on what we have seen. Recommended for those who want to travel in a van between sights instead of a taxi and want somebody else buying the tickets.
Choose carefully

I would not recommend this trip - having previously done a similar trip a few years ago which we thoroughly enjoyed we decided to do a similar trip with family who were first timers in Marrakesh. We booked an English speaking tour which was subsequently joined by another French speaking party. The tour was therefore primarily in French with snippets in English - at one point the guide spent 15 mins giving information in French and only 1.5 mins in English. Even my rudimentary French could make out that he was not giving same detailed information in English. I did point this out to him and he acknowledged it was difficult to keep two parties happy, however we had paid the same as the other party and expected a similar level of service.Lots of time waiting for buses - which is unnecessary as distance between sites is within easy walking distance. Lunch on terrace with views over city and Atlas Mountains was lunch in a room with no views - again our previous tour was in same restaurant on the terrace with the aforementioned views. The tour of the souk was being led through with very little information and those who had previously undertaken a similar tour were left to give information that we recalled from our last tour. All in all not a good experience if you want information on the monuments, history or culture of Marrakesh

We very much enjoyed the city tour and lunch with Ismail, our tour guide. Ismail was very knowledgeable and friendly and spoke excellent English, which was easy to understand! Ismail is very personable and represented Morocco in a very honorable fashion!!!

I would not recommend this trip. The guide only took us to shops where he was getting a backhander. Not worried when he lost a lone female group member in the souk.

Overall the locations were beautiful however our tour guide was underwhelming. He almost lost 2 people from our tour group, constantly repeated himself, and didn't pause long enough at key photo opportunities and too long in locations that weren't that meaningful.

Roberto S, Apr 2018
First we were told to meet our guide at a place we couldn't find on google, when we contacted them for directions they said it wasn't on any map and we should ask at our Riad - why arrange to meet somewhere that isn't on any map? Our Riad had no idea where it was either. Fortunately we did manage to change the meeting place but it was stressful at the last minute. The morning was mostly ok going to the places we expected and lunch was at a typical tourist restaurant which was fine. Unfortunately the guide was more interested in 'shopping' and getting commission first a cake shop with 10 Euro cakes - just a quick stop outside so not really a problem but then we were shut in a room while they tried to sell us all spices and oils, then we were taken to a Riad and a random museum which I wasn't expecting and seemed pointless particularly as we were staying in a Riad. We were taken through the souks and told we weren't allowed to buy anything we had to buy at the shop he was taking us to. This got even worse when we were then told we would have to spend half an hour in the shop. I had only booked this tour as I believed it included the Majorelle Gardens as did another couple on the tour this seems to have disappeared from the itinerary listed now and when I realised we wouldn't be going and and would instead be spending half an hour in a shop so the guide could get commission we promptly left and had to get a taxi ourselves to the gardens.

A very good starter to a vacation - you really learn a lot about were you have landed in Marrakech - religion - history - palaces...

Mary_W, Mar 2018
It all seemed extremely rushed. We left the tour at lunchtime as it wasn't at all what we expected. We were rushed out of places we wanted to spend time in. The guide spent about 30 minutes giving us a talk on doors and door knockers outside a house , and a bit later in the morning we were taken to a spice shop where we spent about an hour or so listening to a talk on herbal medicines in a local shop. I would rather have missed the door and the shop altogether and had more time exploring the historical places. One place we visited we basically used the public toilets and then left. Another place we visited we didn't even look round it was more of a walk through. There was not really what we expected. We decided to see if things improved by lunchtime. They did not.we had the provided lunch, which was very nice, and didn't continue on with the tour.

JulieAnn_C, Mar 2018
The tour was brilliant. The museums and the souks were inspiring. However, the lunch was poor. It's clearly mass produced and 'tagine' sold to gullible tourists. Having said that, the whole day was fantastic and worth the money! I would book this if you go to Morocco!

This was the best way to experience Marrakech in one day! Be prepared to walk, but it's worth it. I felt like we saw more of Marrakech with this tour than we would have ever seen on our own. The guide was friendly, and he doesn't walk fast, so it's more like a stroll through Marrakech. The lunch was really good!

Patrick_M, Mar 2018
I'm glad we did the tour since they did show us around the city, however, the big disappointment is that guides take you to places where they want you to spend money with their friends or where they get a cut of your purchase. Places of interest where I, as a visitor, actually wanted to spend time and buy something was not allowed. For instance, at the souk the guide would not give us any time to stop and shop or wander around. Instead he rushed us through the alleys of merchants and at the end brought us to a shop where we had 30mins to spend doing what exactly? We ended up staying at the souk after the tour for another 2 hours and wandering around and doing trinket shopping on our own. The restaurant/lunch that's included in this package is also not very good... there are better places for a lot less. Would recommend this tour for those who know absolutely nothing about Marrakech so that they can get an idea of worthy places to visit and come back on their own without the guide on another day.

This is a great tour to get a sense of Marrakech in one day. Be aware of the sanke, moneky, and henna people on the square.

Marcelo L, Jan 2018
Some of this was interesting but it was basically a marketing trip. We made several stops in shops where the goods on sale were recommended as being superior quality and were three times the price of what was on offer in the Souks. Lunch was fairly grim. In the plus side, the guide was knowledgable.

Manuel_G, Jan 2018
First I totally believe that this tour would have been better with the right tour guide. Bahia Palace and Saadian Tombs were amazing but the rest of the tour was terrible. The guide took us to two tiny museums that were not even listed on the tour and shops were he wanted us to buy merchandise from his friends. No time to stroll and buy merchandise we wanted. Lunch tasted awful and we were not taken to Dar El-Bacha hammam and Ben Youssef Medersa college. Ive booked many Tours through viator but this one was the worst for the price I paid for 3 people.

The tour gives visitors a great first impression of the city of Marrakech, especially the medina. The local guide knew his way around the city. The size of our group was good: we were six people in the morning and three people in the afternoon who booked the full day tour. The tour guide was an older man and he made sure we stick to the schedule and he kept track of time. Unfortunately, his English skills werent that good and in my opinion he didnt seem that interested in showing his city to us. Some of the stops the guide took us to were not that interesting for the people in the group and it was obvious the guide got a comission for taking us there. Lunch was good and the restaurant was nice. The complimentary tea in the afternoon was a welcome break after a lot of walking.

Stuart A, Jan 2018
Really when you have a guide who actually pays very little attention to the group of people who he is in charge of it is hard to be positive....in summary: The positives: Lunch was good and they catered well for my wife who has food sensitivities The negatives: Despite providing an exact address in detail and getting confirmation we were not picked up and had to follow up where the person advised they did not have the full address for pick up....despite an email confirmation.....meant we missed the first 45 mins of the tour....not our fault but no apology on that.... The guide as noted above actually lost us as we waited out the front of the last no obligation but plenty of pressure to buy from this genuine and reputable place that sells the same as a 1,000 stalls because he did not look for us as we waited. We had to find our own way back and he saw us as we found our way back to the square. The reality was the group looked after each other and made sure that it kept together as the guide ran ahead..... The reality of the tour was that we saw all the basics but learnt very little.... The reality of this tour was that we were taken to a number of no obligation but this is a reputable place where we always felt herded to buy and always felt that it was not for our benefit The reality of the tour was that we spent little time actually hearing and learning how things were done over the many years of history but more about getting to the next buying stop which is exactly NOT why we did this tour The reality is we would have been much better off with a map and doing it ourselves, we would have muddled through....and to add insult to injury at lunch when the guide says you can order whatever you like to drink WITHOUT telling you you need to pay for drinks separately.......NOT GOOD Hard to recommend

Steven H, Dec 2017
Wow, we saw three sites. In between we spent an hour and a half in their store 'shopping' for oil/tonic/tea/local products, then another '30 minutes' near the Djima El Fna square hostage 'shopping' again for local products. We were told that not much happening at the square, so buy here better. Sorry, we've been there and this was a totally commercialized tour to sell products. Toured with Viator before and you've done much better guys!
