Jean Carlo was punctual in picking me up at my hotel. He has a good command of the English language and asked me what I most wanted to see. He hit all the marks on finding those species including the Resplendent Quetzal, a bird that is not easy to find. He understands the habitat preferences of the birds and was the first one on some of the species among a number of guides. He went the extra distance by explaining the rarity of some species and showed me range maps in the field. He scouted ahead to find new species as I paused to take photographs. Jean Carlo tracked our observation on e-Bird so I could spend all my time looking and photographing. We took a coffee break at my request and had a nice conversation. We observed over 60 species in the five-hour period. It was great time and a life experience for me. I highly recommend Jean Carlo Tours.

Really enjoyed this tour! We saw over 60 different species of birds (+ many monkeys). The colours of the birds are just stunning! The enthusiasm & passion of the guide really shines through. There’s no way we would have spotted anywhere near the amount of birds without having the guide. I would highly recommend if you want a tour focused on seeing birds. Which I would also recommend as the birds in Costa Rica are beautiful!!

Jean Carlos is an amazing expert birding guide. The morning we spent with him was one of our best experiences of the trip. Jean Carlos began the tour by asking which birds we more most hoping to see, and he tailored the day's birdwatching accordingly. All told, we sighted nearly 50 species. Had we had another day in Monteverde, we would've gladly hired him again.

We enjoyed our two sessions of half day birdwatching tour with Jean Carlo. We had so much fun and can feel his passion for birdwatching. Jean Carlo is an amazing birder and guide who would take you to the right spots according to the weather and can quickly identify birds just by their sound or a glance of the appearances. He also has deep knowledge on where we can observe specific species. We have learned a lot about Monteverde birds. Highly recommended this tour if you want to learn more about Costa Rica birds.

Jean Carlo is an amazing tour guide and birder. His tour was the best part of our trip to Costa Rica. Fantastic experience with the best bird guide around. He is so knowledgeable and interesting to talk to. Although we initially had trouble connecting, once we did, it was just a wonderful touring experience. Highly recommend if you want to learn about the birds in Costa Rica.

Bird watching with Jean Carlos in Curi Cancha Reserve

Jean Carlos was a very competent bird watching guide. He took us though Curi Cancha Reserve and pointed out so many different birds, that we hardly could keep up with him. We would have never seen most of them without Jean Carlos. The Curi Cancha Reserve is well maintained and it was fun to walk the different trails. We spent almost 4 hours there and time went by so fast. We will definitely recommend Jean Carlos to our family and friends. Unfortunately road 606 going up to Monteverde is terrible!

Fantastic Birding in Monteverde

I absolutely recommend taking a bird tour with Jean Carlo! We had a fantastic time in Monteverde. Jean Carlo was so knowledgeable and engaging. He was great at helping us find and ID birds all morning. His birding skills are superb and he was also such a pleasant person to chat and spend time with. A few of my non birding family came along and had an awesome time too. Definitely an outing for all to enjoy.

Unsere Tour begann morgens um 6 Uhr. Wir haben erst außerhalb vom Nationalpark mit einer Vogelbeobachtung begonnen. Im Curi Cancha angekommen, haben wir eine Menge weitere Vögel beobachten dürfen, ebenso andere Tiere. Nasenbär,Aguti,Stachelschwein. An Vögeln haben wir eine große Menge gesichtet, Kolibris und Tukane,Kiskadee und viele mehr. Unser Tourguide Carlo war klasse. Er hat sich unglaublich viel Zeit genommen, viele Dinge erklärt. Historisches und über die Natur. Immer ansprechbar und ein breites Wissen, was für Vögel man hört und wie man sie entdeckt. Unglaublich empfehlenswert. Würde ich nochmal buchen.
