Nice but boring.
David_W, Feb 2024
Probably the lake. Very long ride. Not much in memorable views. Very crowded in smaller bus. Was not sure if all our luggage would fit in the back. We took smaller carry ons. Others had large suitcases. But the driver made them fit. She was very good. Took us directly to our hotel instead of dropping us elsewhere.
Terrible! Too terrible!

We booked this tour through you, viator. The original operator is Cheeky kiwi tours. They or you kept sending me e-mail telling me they will pick us up at visitor center of Mt Cook Feb 4 PM 2:30. And then when we wait at visitor center until PM 2:30, but we didn't see any tour bus! We immediately checked the e-mail, and found Cheeky kiwi tours sent us a mail at around AM 9:00 saying we should wait at rear lobby of Hermitage Hotel. We rushed to there, and saw no tour bus either!! Later, we accidentally ran into a woman driver from Cheeky Kea tours in hotel front door, saying she was looking for us!!! So we do not need to die at Mt. Cook. This is really a terrible travel experience. If you need to change operator, you need to use reliable way to notify us much easier, not until the day of pick-up. We were out in the trail that morning, and how can we check the e-mail all the time? Ridiculously, the AM 9:00 e-mail from Cheeky kiwi tours even specified the wrong pick-up place, and even didn't mentioned we had been transferred to Cheeky Kea tours!! This is really a terrible operation!!!! This is real a terrible experience for us. It is too terrible! I probably dare not to book anything from you and this Cheeky Kiwi tours!
Enjoyable trip

The driver was very obliging to stop if we saw anything we wanted to look at. The other people on the minibus were very friendly.
Not a tour but a transfer. If travel provider adds two hours for stops then this would be a tour.

It's just essentially a transfer. It isn't a tour. Given the departure time and the arrival times, there's very little time for stops. Mostly bathroom breaks. The only stop that was a bit long 10 mins was the Church of Good Shepherd. The mike in the bus was busted so we couldn't understand our driver/ guide. He was nice. Good transfer option though.
Incorrect and misleading information
KWAISANG_L, Mar 2023
The time of departure of the tour, which was actually 2:30 pm, was wrongly indicated as 6:00 am in the information shown in Viator’s booking webpage, as well as in the booking confirmation email and the electronic ticket. Very luckily we cloud discover this mistake before the departure, because we need to contact the Tour Operator to ascertain the hotel pickup location. We were then told by the Tour Operator that the gathering time should be 2:30pm, and that the indication of 6:00 am was an “”IT error”. I just cannot imagine how it could be if we didn’t contact the Operator. Obviously the departure is the most critical information of a tour. I am deeply appalled by such a careless mistake. This caught us by surprise, and we had to make considerable efforts for last-minute rescheduling of our itinerary. Besides this, the company name of the Tour Operator was confusing too! We were told that the tour bus will bear the name “Cheeky Kiwi”, but it was actually “cheeky Kea”. I presume they are sister companies, but this was confusing. Other than the abovementioned issues, the tour arrangement was fine, and the tour guide-driver’s service was very good.
Response from Host, Jun 2023
Justified. Yes there was a system error that showed the departure time from Christchurch not Mt Cook. Has been fixed
