What To Expect

Your day begins with pickup from your Mykonos hotel (upon request) or by making your own way to the meeting point by the pier. Board the ferry to Delos where your guide issues tickets to the archaeological site (admission fee not included) and provides an introduction to the islands’ mythology and history.

Set out to explore the narrow streets of Delos and admire such highlights as the House of Dionysos, the statue of Cleopatra, the House of the Trident, and the Theatre of Delos. Other must-see attractions include the Stoa of Phillipe, the Propylaia, the Colossus of the Naxians, and the Temples of Apollo. Your last stop is in front of the Sacred Lake, overlooked by a row of marble lions. There’s time to visit the Archaeological Museum of Delos (at own expense) before returning to the ferry and heading back to Mykonos.

The booking voucher doesn't guarantee boarding the boat nor entrance to the archaeological site. Please make sure you arrive at the Delos Tours kiosk in the Old Port 60-30 minutes before departure time to check in and receive your boat ticket. Entrance fees to the Archaeological Site & the Museum, €8,00 per person are not included and need to be paid at the Delos Tours kiosk upon check in, in cash only. You will receive your ticket to the archaeological site when you arrive in Delos.

Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Great tour but some language barriers

The tour was interesting and really helped with the explanation and value Delos provided to Greek history. However, having paid for an English tour and having a guide that struggled to speak English was a little frustrating and made it an effort to try and understand what was being said. I would still recommend the tour to anyone that wants to learn about Greek history, but when you sign up for a specific language it would be appreciated to have a guide that has the ability to speak it.

The tour of Delos was amazing. Our guide Cleopatra taught us so much in an interesting and entertaining way. We were picked up at our hotel and transported to the departure point at the port. This was the only fault we found, not in the quality of the service, but that we were a bit unsure of where to go, so more direction and maybe having someone greet us and lead us through the process would have been helpful. I texted the tour operator several times and they were very prompt at responding.

Unpleasant experience

The driver was late for 20 minutes. When I arrived, I had to collect the ticket and I was the last one to get in the boat. The sight was not very interesting. On my way back to the hotel, I could not find the driver standby and got in the wrong car and I was charged Euro 25. It was an unpleasant experience for me.

The guide was very informative. She was very passionate about the history of the ruins. The Sea Bus was good going there and back. The only thing was he did not stay long enough at the dock and some of us didn't get out, because we didn't realize he stopped. When asked to take us back he refused since it was the end of the day and his last stop was on the other side of the cove. So, we were stranded there late at night with no transport back to the hotel. Until the other couple found a way for us to go back to the city.

Instructions from tour transport were not correct (directed us to a boat, when we needed to go to a ticket booth & then were directed to a different boat). Boat was unsafely over crowded (no way they had enough life vests) & no place to sit. Our tour guide was good.

poor trip

from the very start there was poor communication. we stood in wrong lint until someone told us that if we prepaid for tour go to a different line. i was given tickets but not told what to do with them. i am glad i put them in my packet because we had to show them to get back on boat. were not told that there was no venders on the island so we were not able to buy water. we were given sound devices but tour operator would not hold mike close enough to her mouth to hear and also there was a single line and if you were in back mike was out of rang.

Delos is a very larger Greek ruins and well worth the visit. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and present the material very well. Despite a very windy day everything when as planned.

This is a wonderful tour of the island of Delos. You can do the experience yourself by booking a ticket on the ferry that takes you there, but to get a full appreciation of the site you really need a guide. Our guide really brought the place to life (I forget her name unfortunately). Even though she has presented this material hundreds of times before, she sounded fresh and interested. From the outside, the ruins don't look like much, but as soon as you enter the archaeological site, you realize that this something special. The fee includes the ferry and the guide, but does not include entrance to the site itself. The one downside to the tour is that Viator does not give you a ticket to the ferry. You have to get there early and get on line with your voucher and they will issue you a ticket at the ticket booth. Don't miss out! Enjoy this tour!

A good way to see Delos

I recommend this tour to anyone looking for a Delos tour. The logistics were good. The meeting point was clear, the procedure to get to the island was well organized and easy. Meet at the ticket office at the old port, take the ferry to Delos. There we met our guide. Our guide was knowledgeable and interesting. Her English was good. She took us to several of the key sights, explaining why they are important. We learned the overall history of Delos. Our time on the island was about 2 to 2-1/2 hours. I find that a good tour guide is very worth the cost, to help me understand what i am looking at, and to explain why it is significant. We also were lucky in that our visit in April had great weather, about 22 C, sunny, light wind. A disadvantage of going in April is that there was only 1 ferry, leaving at 10:00 and returning at 1:30, so there was only a little free time to explore on our own. I expect in summer there are more ferries, which would allow one to stay on the island longer, but in summer it is MUCH hotter. The museum is still in renovation, so we couldn't visit that, even if we did have time.

So worth the money. Irene (I believe that was her name, it was a while ago) was a queen who deserves to be praised. So knowledgeable and truly passionate about the subject matter. I can't say enough good things about her. Her storytelling is excellent and she did a fantastic job managing a large group in the heat. 10 stars for Irene—she is the best tour guide I've ever had, and I've had many.

leaving and going out on our own was the best part of the trip. we didn’t make it through the tour, the guide was rambling the whole time and we didn’t feel like we were learning or exploring at all. we left halfway through and had a much better time on our own. unfortunately, we do not recommend this tour. it felt like a waste of money
