    Learning about German pow camp. Visit to the colored school. I found it interesting that the first issue of sports illustrated was printed in myrtle beach and cost 25 cents.

    The marketing conference to launch Sports Illustrated months before it hit the newsstands was held in Myrtle Beach and that is why you were able to see original documents associated with it. I'm glad you found that history interesting.

    We liked visiting some historical sites; the Colored School narrator was so passionate about the school, the people who influenced him and all of the kids who attended. I also remember sitting in desks like that when I attended a one-room school house in PA. Good visit! The info about WWII prisoners of war, their impact on local economy and their realization about USA was a great history lesson! The guide knew her stuff and we liked that.

    We were in Myrtle Beach for the week of Christmas and were looking for something to do. We have used this company before while visiting Alaska. We found this historical trolley tour. It was FANTASTIC!!!! Our tour guide, Katherine, was absolutely amazing (we joked amongst our party that we would love to spend the day with her going all around the town listening to all of the history that is hidden in her brain). She was so well spoken, a wealth of knowledge and overall just a friendly and professional tour guide! Highly recommend this tour if you are in the area and enjoy history.

And, if it were at all possible, it would be fantastic if you could join me for the one-time-only, six-hour motorcoach tour and buffet on 6/8/24, that commemorates the 80th anniversary of the arrival of German POWs in Myrtle Beach.     I loved learning history I had never heard anywhere else before. I hope to bring my son on this tour someday, as I have finally found something at the beach that will hold his interest. His caregiver will be visiting the beach next month, and I have already sent her information about the tours so that she and her family can go, too.

    Myrtle Beach colored School, the 1st public school for African Americans in the Myrtle Beach Area, on the trolley tour & Charlies’s Place that tells a story of race relations in South Carolina, in 1950 Charlie Place was attacked by Ku Klux Klan and CharlieFitzgerald was beaten & left for dead The History of WWII with the German Soldiers being brought to the US as prisioners

    Our narrator knew her stuff, had good information and was great at telling the story. The trolly was clean, temperature controlled and kinda neat. What was disappointing was the tour... most places in the stories are long gone and the narrator just pointed in a direction of where things used to be. There is one old original house and we just stopped on the road and looked in that direction. We stopped at a historic club house at a golf course that was very pretty. We also stopped at a very small museum that was neat but so many of us in a small space made it hard to look at displays.

    This tour takes you on a deeper dive into Myrtle Beach history, as the description states, if you already have a general knowledge of Myrtle Beach history. Our Tuesday tour relates more to what is here now and this tour tells the story of what used to be here in the last century. As suggested in the tour description, you may prefer the Tuesday tour.     Local historian & guide presented myrtle beach in such a way to bring it alive! Reflects past & present .we found this tour to be one of the best if not the best we’ve been on.(we love tours!)just sorry we didn’t have time for her other two tours this trip!

    Lady knew a lot of history. Loved the country club/golf course. For people with hearing aids , she talks too fast! We understand she was trying to get a lot of info out in a short time.

    I am so glad that you were impressed by Pine Lakes. It is a Myrtle Beach gem. We have a variety of guests with different levels of hearing ability so we show everyone at the beginning of each tour the signal to give if at any point they can't hear. There's definitely a lot of history to be shared and we don't want anyone to miss any of it.
