What To Expect

This tour begins in front of Nuremberg Central Station. Meet the guide and the rest of the tour group and roam through the city’s Old Town, admiring the beautiful timber-framed houses and cobblestone streets. Marvel at the massive City Walls of Old Town Nuremberg, which still run for approximately four kilometers.

Behind the walls, walk past the Craftsmen's Courtyard, where glass cutters, leather workers, gold and silversmiths, stained-glass painters and other artisans offer their wares for sale. See the gothic St. Lawrence Church, which was rebuilt after World War II; Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt, Germany’s most famous Christmas market; plus Town Hall, German Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer's house and the Imperial Castle courtyards, to name just some of the attractions.

Along the way, learn about the history of this beautiful and prosperous city — as the center of the Holy Roman Empire, to the days of the German Renaissance, the Temple City of the Third Reich, and the home to both the Nazi rallies and Nuremberg Trials.

See where German Emperors were crowned and where saints are buried. Find where the most famous and talented German artisans in history created their awe-inspiring works and where the colorful and lively markets have taken place for almost 700 years.

Then hop on the city’s public transportation (bus or train) to see the Nazi party rally grounds. Discover the Great Street, designed by architect Albert Speer to be the central axis of the rally grounds, and the half-finished Congress Hall of the Nazi Party, a building Hitler planned to use for party meetings. There’s also the largest Third Reich buildings, where Hitler inspected members of the SS, and the Documentation Center, a museum with exhibits on vital wartime and post-war events, like the Nuremberg Trials.

Feel free to stay at the Documentation Center for a longer visit, or return to central Nuremberg to conclude the tour.

Paul was a great guide very knowledgeable and Nuremberg is a must see! You will not regret booking and if you get Paul you are in for a treat.
Nuremberg tour good
Anonymous, May 2024
Pls town Nuremburg portion was good. Paul very engaging and knowledgeable and interactive. Downside was tour advertised at four hours including nazi rally grounds. We based travel on this. Tour was not to end until 5-1/2 hours so we had to miss the nazi ground stop which was main reason we went.
Highly recommend this tour.

Paul was an exceptional tour guide. He was highly knowledgeable and made the tour a wonderful experience.
Nice excursion, but not as described.
John_B, May 2024
The guide is excellent. However, caution that this trip is not 4 hours as stated. It is 5+ hours. It also does the Rally Grounds last, not first as described. We had a time constraint of 4.5 hours, so we had to break off early and missed the grounds. The guide did the best he could in making the most of it. We just wish the description fit the tour.
Response from Host, May 2024
Hello and thanks for your review. Sorry the tour ran overtime and you couldn’t stay for the entire thing. However, I just checked and it doesn’t state in the tour description that we see the rally grounds first. We always visit the old town and then the rally grounds. Once again, sorry you didn’t have a chance to see the whole tour.
Entertaining tour
Jacob_K, May 2024
Great, informative tour. I was expecting to see more of the rallying grounds, however. Paul, our guide, was a cheerful and smart lad who spoke loud and clear English.
Great tour

Nuremburg walking tour 3/27/2024

Our guide, Nick was a wealth of knowledge! He had an excellent pace for a rather large group of attendees of varying ages and was very diplomatic in presentation of the history of the city. We saw all of Old Nuremberg, ate lunch on our own, and with his assistance, used public transportation to/from the Nazi Party Rally Grounds. This was a big walking day. We logged about 7 miles (some steep climbs and steps) on the day of the tour. If you have orthopedic ailments, this may not be the tour for you. Otherwise, highly recommend without reservations. A very economical half-day excursion.
Amazing and informative!

Elizabeth was passionate and knowledgeable. I enjoyed her insight as a Bavarian native. Recommended great places to eat and shop in old town Nuremberg. Saw so much of a city!

I really wish I could remember our guides name. He was excellent and one of the most interesting guides I have ever had on a tour. Totally recommend.
Great tour

Nick was a great tour guide for this tour. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and country. He was great in keeping us on schedule with out hovering over us and allowing us to have some free time. I mentioned that I had a walking condition and ensured that I did not get left behind and always checked how I was doing through the whole tour. To me this makes a great tour guide that cares about his customers. Again I highly recommend this tour and Nick as the tour guide
Don’t book- they cancel last minute and leave you without a tour.
Katie_J, Feb 2024
They canceled the tour less than 24 hours before stating “not enough interest.” Instead of wasting $50 on this tour, book a free walking tour of the city and take the tram down to the Field where the rallies were held on your own. This is what we did and it costs a whole lot less!
Knowledgeable tour guide

Natasha was a great guide and very knowledgeable friendly and helpful The area of interest she points out for later exploring or ignoring is your choice. Nuremberg dark history is not just related to the the National socialist gatherings but has a chapter during Medieval times Beautiful city and a great tour to familiarise yourself with it
Mr Scott was very good in...
NIKOLAOS_B, Nov 2023
Mr Scott was very good in his job and very professional although the snow was fallen he continue the tour without decreasing the quality
Very informative
Justin_S, Nov 2023
The castle, Zepplin Field and the old town history. I always find the walking tour the best use of time when you haven’t been to the city before. You see all the main sights with a guide with lots of additional information at each point. Highly recommend!
Great way to learn about the city
Andy_K, Nov 2023
Walking with a guide through a new city helps one get a good introduction. There is so much history here and Nic covered it really well. He was funny and made the tour very enjoyable.
Nuremberg
TinaB, Nov 2023
In spite of incessant rain, we really enjoyed our tour with Nic. He was so affable and friendly, managing to chivvy along an increasingly bedraggled group with good humour. He has an amazing depth of knowledge of the history of Nürnberg and we learned a lot. Highly recommended
Very good tour
Rahmiel_L, Oct 2023
