    What To Expect

Following pickup at your Ocho Rios hotel, board your comfortable vehicle for the drive into Jamaica's beautiful Blue Mountains. Along the way, pass a banana plantation and local outdoor bazaars. Your guide points out the site where the Spanish fought the English in the Rio Nuevo Battle during the 17th century.

Stop at the Blue Mountain Cafe for a brunch of banana fritters, beignets, and local fruit juice. Sip the world-famous Blue Mountain coffee, then watch a coffee-roasting demonstration to see how the experts here make coffee from berry to cup.

After an orientation and safety briefing, get fitted with a helmet, knee and elbow pads and a bicycle. Climb on your bike and start the downhill ride, coasting through mountainous scenery and spectacular views of Kingston below. The biking portion of the tour starts from 5,600 feet (1,700 meters) and descends at a relaxed pace. Make several stops for photo opportunities and scenic lookouts.

Keep an eye out for the native Giant Swallowtail Butterfly, which inhabits the dense tropical forest and misty slopes of the Blue Mountains. Your guide points out local wildflowers and birdlife, as well as the world's smallest variety of orchid.

Stop for a late lunch, then cool off with a dip in a pool at the foot of a secluded waterfall. Make the drive back to Ocho Rios for drop-off at your hotel.

Do it, book it, you won’t regret it!

My husband and I had an absolute blast! The drive to and from Blue Mountain is a long one full of winding roads and rough terrain. I did get nauseated during the ride because our driver did drive pretty fast, but I appreciated getting to the mountain quicker. The bike ride was amazing and filled with adrenaline as you go down the mountain on rough and ragged terrain. If you want to go fast and not be hindered by slow riders, I recommend waiting until the very end of the line (ahead of the back security rider) and leave a long distance between you and the front riders. My husband and I did that and we were able to fly down the mountain dodging the numerous potholes and loose gravel. It was a blast. We saw a lot of kind locals and enjoyed a plethora of friendly goats along the way! You get a tasty brunch with eggs, steamed cabbage slaw (which was new to me, but heavenly and flavorful with the eggs and toast), and don’t get me started on the beignets (fresh, crispy on the outside/ soft on the inside, and covered with powdered sugar). Let’s not forget why we are here!? The Blue mountain coffee! You get to drink as much as you want and watch a coffee bean harvesting demonstration. It was all refreshing and enlightening. For lunch, they offered a meal of chicken, rice and vegetables. My husband and I being vegetarians thought we would have to sit this one out, but to my excitement, they asked if any of the riders were vegetarian! They provided 3 alternative options; a kingfish meal, steamed veggie meal, or minced veggie meal (which looks like meat). My husband and I chose the kingfish and it was cooked to perfections and the flavor was outstanding! We finished off at a cool and refreshing waterfall and we’re able to sample fruits of different kinds (guava, guinep, bananas, jack fruit, etc.) Definitely worth it. I recommend this excursion to anyone heading to Jamaica!

Jamaican scenery, history and culture all in one.

We had a fabulous day. The team really looked after us: made clear health and safety essentials, guided us and took care of our safety whilst cycling and made us laugh. The photographers were hilarious. I am half Jamaican so am familiar with the scenery but Blue Mountain provided not only stunning views but also living history and true Jamaican culture. Love Jamaica and loved the Blue Mountain.

The tour guides were excellent - H/T to Alfred, who navigated the rough Blue Mountain roads to get us to our biking stop. I would just say that the ride itself is downhill through a lot of neglected roads and tons of potholes, so you really need to have cycling experience. It's fun but I could see someone who has never ridden a cruiser bike having some difficulty - its exciting but a bit frightening. Otherwise this tour really helps you understand the "real" parts of Ocho Rios - lots of food for thought.
Great trip to the blue mountains

Great trip to the blue mountains to see another part of Jamaica. Enjoyed the downhill cycling and the food was really good as well and all the guides and guys were really funny and made the day! Just a note those coming from Montego Bay it’s a long day trip which starts early around 615am!
One of the Highlights of the Trip!!!

Let me start by saying that I am NOT an experienced bicycle person. I just learned how to ride my bike 2 years ago; I also do not also ride my bike too often and have only practiced on flat terrain. However, I managed to survive the entire downhill bike tour and enjoyed the experience with excellent help from the bike guides. The tour took ~3hours from Ocho Rios but they were generous with two bathroom stops ( I needed both), and

What a great time we had. The scenery was awesome. No accidents occurred. By the time we got downhill, you we eager to jump into the lake to cool off. The lunch was full of flavor. We had a chance to buy coffee during lunch but thought it was too expensive. Afterwards, we learned that it was the cheapest place for the Blue Mountain coffee.

A fantsiic day out which I would recommend everyone to do. It is along drive to get ther but you see some more of Jamaica and the driver gives a good commentary. We really enjoyed the bikes and it is not difficult at all. The scenery is beautiful. Take bug spay and some crayons etc for the school.

The Blue Mountains IS stunning the views and wildlife are breathtaking PROS: We were picked up on time. The bus journey will take a few hours, the good thing it has AC and the driver Markie Markie will keep you informed and you get to see the local sights that you don't see in the hotel, plus jokes and riddles the entire trip up the mountain. The bus will take you up to 7,000 feet and then you cycle down. We stopped for brunch the food was great and delicious. We were then introduced to the coffee that was produced there and this was available for purchase in their gift shop. There is a large selection of bikes to choose from and the guides help you chose and make adjustments if required, we were given knee and elbow pads and a helmet, safety is paramount. The roads in Jamaica aren't smooth mostly ones this remote, so the guide would regularly shout 'pot hole' and we would, in turn, shout it back up the single line we were cycling in. It was all good JAMAICAN fun. Lunch is at the same stop off where we had brunch earlier, and the Jerk chicken and rice is really great and tasty. We also got to stop off to learn about the wildlife there and well as learn about which plants you could find to use as natural remedies. Then we continued downhill further on the bikes. The tour ended with a dip in a cool waterfall where the locals will assist you and sell you drink and finally a 'beer drinking contest'. You will need money to tip these guys that help you in the waterfall. They are very kind and helpful. Also brought a bag of beautiful mandarins from a local. This is the time the bike guides one only will collect for all to tip them. I would definitely recommend FANTASTIC DAY! CONS: 1.         Web site states over 60 years old you cannot ride Seriously look at my photo. I am 60 years old female and I was up the front riding as fast and good as anyone else. I would hope that I could still be riding in 20 years time or more. Found this offensive. 2.        Brunch and lunch and they were really great were too close together time wise. We were starving for hours after we got on the bus and then were still full from Brunch to eat an early lunch. Dont know who you can change this as the venue was great. Maybe Brunch served at your office area? 3.        The guide on the bike wearing the fluoro vest he was the only one was speeding past and weaving in and out and past rides which I though was very dangerous if a rider turned their wheel slightly. He was showing off, but was inappropriate riding like this with other riders not familiar with the bikes or roads. Idiot!

A really great day traveling down the mountain, a lot is packed into the day so each stop is very rushed but I would definitely recommend.

We were very pleased with this excursion and told everyone about it when we got back to the resort. We've visited Jamaica 3 times and this was the first time that I felt we saw the non-resort Jamaica. The mountains were just beautiful and the bike ride was exhilarating while feeling completely safe. We were worried it would be a little too much being on a bike for over 2 hours but neither one of us ever felt uncomfortable. I highly recommend this excursion.

Six or seven hours on a bus, up rough mountain roads, down hill on beach bikes that were not safe at all. Brunch and lunch were served two hours apart - so skip one. We saw a lot of the country that is for sure - but so not worth the time or money

Great value for a wonderful day. Views amazing. Only negative comments are the bus was cramped - my son and I both sat on seats above the wheel which meant we couldn't put our legs down on the 2 hour trip. The bikes weren't in the best in conditions. But the experience was worth it!

Amazing! Fantastic scenery, brilliant guides, good food. Drive to get there was great, good to see a bit of Jamaica.. The views all the way down were stunning, nice and chilled able to stop wherever. Bikes easy to ride, back-pedalling to brake. No effort required. Waterfall at the end was lovely

The trip was not what we thought it would be. Our group assumed we would reach the highest point and take in breathtaking views of Newcastle. Very disappointed with the views. The journey that BMT took was completely different from information already provided. Does not give a true picture of Blue Mountains.
