    A great way to visit the various wineries in the Marlborough area. It’s great that you can pick and choose where you want to visit and know that there is another bus within the next 30 minutes. All the drivers were very knowledgeable about the area and they were all very helpful.

    Wine Tour Hop-on-Hop Off

    This was an OK excursion but there were a few little kinks. The Buses we consistently late arriving at each winery and many of the wineries had closed the tastings for the day due to too many requests for the tastings. We did manage to get in two and the one at Rimapere was the best. The second, Allan Scott Winery was a unique experience due to their system of running the tastings (wine bottles were behind glass and had little spigots, you put in your wine card and picked how much wine you wanted in each pour) however, the wine was not as good as that at Rimapere. I was not aware that you could pre-book tastings at the various wineries and I think that would have been the thing to do in order to be able to enjoy more tasting.

    We are sorry you didn't enjoy your day out with us. We understand buses arriving late can be annoying, but there are lots of factors out of our control that can delay a bus. For example: Marlborough began construction of a roundabout in the middle of the cruiseship season which cut off a critical part of our run, forcing the buses double back and go around. This doesn't make it impossible to stay on time but any delays got exaggerated unfortunately. We found the majority of people didn't mind if a bus turned up 10 minutes late on a particular run. With regards, to the pre-bookings we do send out multiple emails suggesting customers to make bookings. Providing contact numbers, emails, and our timetable to make bookings as easy as possible.

    Easy to find in Picton, just where the shuttle buses drop off. We had wine tastings at 2 wineries set and both were good. Excellent lunch at St Claire’s winery.

    Overpriced Uber

    Hop on hop off are expensive Uber tour, no time to stop more than 1 or two locations. All the good wineries were booked. No way to book because you don’t know when you arrive at locations.

    Hi Mark, you have got to let us know which Uber app you are using. Because finding an Uber that will travel 250km for less that $100 is amazing! Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your tour. We send out lots of information prior to your tour to make your day as easy as possible. If you look back through your emails you'll find links that take you to the buse's timetable & list of all the venues, with contact information so people can make bookings.

    Busses constantly full and entire circuit drive time too long. Can only do 1 maybe 2 stops especially on a cruise stop.

    Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your tour. The buses do get busy on a cruise ship day, but so does the entire Marlborough region. We keep track of the numbers and have never overbooked our tours. The full circuit is long and but getting a couple of stops in will break it up (we would never suggest staying on for the entire circuit). And yes, if you start your tour later in the day you will have less time to do multiple stops.

    You can only do a few of the stops, so pick wisely. There is approximately 20/25 minutes between drop off and pick up and not always exactly on time. Example, the chocolate store stop is a quick 10 minutes to look, buy and then we had to wait for a bus which ran late. You definitely need 2 or 3 stops for wine tasting. A good way to see the area and make a few stops, but also costly.

    Wine country is beautiful. We stopped at the car museum and aviation museum first. Friendly staff and good mix of antique cars. Next, the Spy Winery was perfect for a tasting. Transportation on small buses was fine

    Hi Roger, it looks like you might have missed the multiple emails you would have received suggesting customers to make bookings. We also provided contact information for each venue and links to the bus timetable so people can make bookings. If you start the tour later in the day, you will have less time to explore the region.

    This Marlbourgh wine country is a valley that is surrounded by mountains and is absolutely beautiful, and the Hop On Hop Off bus tour is a great way to see it. We visited two wineries (one for lunch and a tasting, and the other for just a tasting) . Both were wonderful. We also visited the Makana Chocolate Factory. They gave us a sample upon entering which was enough incentive for each couple in our group to buy some chocolate. Their chocolate is a real treat! What a wonderful day!

    The bus was clean and the drivers were friendly. The wineries were extremely busy and a few were ill prepared for their visitors so we were limited on how many we could visit. We did have reservations at a couple of the wineries which is a must or could ruin your experience.
    Driving through area with choices of which stop to get off at

    Because our ship was late to dock and let us off- we were only able to get off at 2 of the stops- there are 24 of them, and the brochure says you could probably do 5 in the time allotted. Would love there to be a division of stops and 2 routes: maybe culture(museums, shops) and food(wine tastings)- that would give the loops each about half the stops, we were driven around for all afternoon- had fun. Would recommend if you want to drive by it all.

    Not much opportunity to see Picton if you are coming off a cruise ship. You had to get on a smaller shuttle and then wait a bit to get in another shuttle. I don’t see how one could fit 2-3 stops as recommended. We got in 1 stop and then started running late so we were afraid to get off the bus fearing we would miss the ship. It’s a good thing we stayed on because the bus behind us broke down.

    Hi, our Wine, beer and wonders tour departs Picton and goes to the Blenheim area, so if wanting to explore Picton you would have to had done another activity in Picton. The Cruise boats dock in an area in Picton that requires you to catch a shuttle to the Picton i-SITE , this is out of anyone's control. We also do not have control for any Cruise boats arriving late, which then shortens your day, but even a late denture of 12.30 or 1pm on our tour you can still fit a good 3 one hour stops in your day. So we are not quite sure why you would have chosen to only go to one stop. We make sure everyone is back to Picton for your last Cruise Ship shuttle. Also we do not have control over the unexpected breakdown of a vehicle, these things happen to the best of us, we quickly fixed this problem by sending out back up to pick these passengers up as quickly as possible ( 5 minutes at most ) from that bus and took then straight to where they wanted to go.     An Expensive Uber Ride to Lunch

    Unfortunately the ship didn’t arrive til late morning and it took us an hour to get off the ship and then a shuttle out of the port. This HOHO had over 20 stops at various wineries; however, with a 2 1/2 hour loop and the wineries closing at 4 or 4:30 pm, there was only time to get off at one stop.

    Sorry to hear your cruise boat was late getting in , and that the it took awhile for you to get off the Cruise Ship Shuttle ( that is not Hop on hop off wine tour but is the Cruise Ship protocol that we do not have control of ) We opened up another departure for our tour to accommodate the late arrival ( 12.30 and a 1pm ) This still allowed you to fit a good 3 one hour stops in your day or 6 half hour stops if you wished, and have you back in time for your Cruise Ship departure.     Sorry to hear you thought this way, unfortunately your cruise ship was hours late getting in, and we opened up extra runs to accommodate this ,we were not overwhelmed, just with the Ship arriving so late and everyone wanting to get on our tour at once, it takes time and organization to get everyone on the buses as soon as possible, also we have multiple buses and back up buses and we stick as close to the schedule as possible.     Had a wonderful time stopped for lunch at St. Clair Winery and also stopped at Moa and Boomtown. Drivers were very friendly and mostly on time, there was always more buses behind and never waited more than 10 mins. When my wife thought she lost her phone the driver waited for us to check, and also phone the last stop and other driver. Turn out another passenger had picked it up.
