What To Expect

Your day trip begins early with hotel pickup from downtown Portland. You'll embark en coach for an exhilarating morning drive through the Columbia River Gorge. Catch spectacular views of the Cascade Mountains that flank the river and glimpse a waterfall or two.

Along the forested highway, visit Oregon’s famous waterfall Multnomah Falls. Join your guide and fellow visitors on Benson Bridge and snap a picture of the 611-foot-tall cascade of water as it crashes below.

Next, continue to Hood River, a picturesque valley town renowned as a prime destination for wind sports. Watch kiteboarders and windsurfers skate across the water as you learn about Hood River’s rich environmental and cultural history. Then take some free time for lunch, shopping or tasting local wines.

The final stop on your guided tour is the glorious Mount Hood, Oregon’s tallest peak at 11,249 feet (3,429 meters) and Timberline Lodge. Take a mountain walk or a self-guided visit through the renovated lodge that was once the setting for the classic film The Shining.

Your day concludes back in Portland by early evening.

Awesome experience
Miguel_N, Apr 2024
It was great! Angela our tour guide was the best! She knew her stuff. Very informative and gave good advice along the way. The views, the water falls, the gorge, the fruit tree farms, the timberline lodge, the place we stop to eat... it was an overall awesome experience.

It was cancelled at last minute. Not happy. Traveled to do this and got nothing. I also paid in advance. Still waiting for refund

We apologize for the late cancellation. We made a mistake doing that. Viator handles all payments and refunds. They were contacted on the date we cancelled the tour and told to give you a full refund. If that has not been done, please contact them.

Great trip to see the Gorge and falls with lots of snow on Mt Hood!
Greg_P, Mar 2024
We had a great trip with Phil! He was very knowledgeable of Oregon history and was really good at giving us instructions. Recommended a great meal at Double Mountain Brewing in Hood River. Got to see lots of snow on Mt Hood….but no mountain….but still had a great time! Would definitely recommend Phil and Hubworld tours for any tour. Look forward to a wine tour next time in the area!

Loved it.

Getting to see the falls and scenery Oregon has to offer. Also John managed to get us up to Timberline lodge, even with the snow being quite heavy and deep banks.

Hands down, best tour guiden
Michael_A, Feb 2024
This was such an awesome trip. I forgot to leave this review back in October, but I still rave about it and tell everyone whos going to the PNW to take this tour. The guide narrates the entire time. Like 8 straight hours of history, geography, science, forestry, food info... I learned so much. The tour is extremely well structured. He has in down to the minute! Some waterfalls stops are small walks/hikes, some are quick in and outs to take a pictures, and some are just pulling the van over on the side of the road. The views of the gorge from the top of the ridge are breathtaking, and the chosen vantage points of Mt. Hood are stunning. The lunch stop was perfect. He drives you through the main drag of hood river, calling out every restaurant and describing their menu. I had enough time to hit a bar for a burger and beer, buy a Tshirt, and get a coffee...just the right amount of time. There was also a perfectly timed stretch break at an apple orchard where I got some of the most delicious apples I've ever had. Long story short, this tour guide is one of the best I've had anywhere in the country and the tour itself is immaculately designed. We'll worth your money and I hope if you're reading this you book it.

Long Day, but excellent Views
Mark_M, Dec 2023
This was a small group, (only four), and not real chatters so guide John had to fill a LOT of time over eight hours. While initially his “humor” fell a bit flat, he was a professional and adapted to his audience and in truth had a lot of facts, and knowledge of the areas we were covering. Truthfully though if I remembered one fact out of every ten I will be surprised. The trip is a LONG day and with the time in the van I would not recommend it if you get car sick at all. But if not then you will get some pretty awesome views of Waterfalls, the Columbia River Gorge (from several vista points), and over halfway up the 4th tallest mountain in America, so there’s a lot to be gotten from the trip. There is a lunch break, (not covered in the price), and John suggested a lot of options during that hour stop so you do get a bit of down time. Between the van travel, elevation changes, wind, and some walking, by the time you are dropped off you will be worn out so maybe don’t schedule dancing afterwards. 😉
