Your guide will pick you up at your accommodation in Oporto, Braga or Guimarães. Porto Airport pickup available for tours in the same day of arrival (if time flight matches). Pick-up also available at Porto, Braga and Guimarães Main Train Stations (in Porto both S. Bento and Campanhã).
What To Expect
Your private tour of the Douro Valley begins with pickup at your hotel in Oporto, Braga, or Guimaraes. Your guide then escorts you to this famous winemaking region, where your first stop is a longstanding family-owned wine estate. Guided by the staff, you’ll sip and sample several varietals and local products for pairing.
From there, you’ll travel down the iconic N222 road—have your camera at the ready. You’ll eventually leave the valley behind, trading it for water and a boat trip down the Douro River (included). You’ll stop for a “wine lunch” in the traditional town of Provesende, with time for leisurely exploration after your meal.
You’ll wrap up the day in Sabrosa, another lovely vineyard town in this UNESCO region, sampling a few more local products and wines before you’re dropped back off at your hotel.

We had a wonderful day with our guide Paulo. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and had a great relationship with all of the folks we met along the tour. I highly recommend Paulo. The Douro Valley is beautiful and full of great wineries and wonderful people. We really enjoyed our lunch in a tiny village, boat ride up the river, wine tastings and most of all interacting with the locals. This is a very special place that I highly recommend.

Tiago was an amazing tour guide - he was very informative about the local culture, Portugal’s history and a wealth of knowledge bringing our Douro Valley Tour to life. We toured 2 local family owned wineries, went on a boat ride and had an authentic lunch at a small, family owned restaurant in the heart a quaint, small town - all amazingly fun and memorable. Awesome day, amazing guide and truly a wonderful day!!!

We had an incredible day in the Douro Valley with Nuno as our guide. We brought our 3 year old and 11 month old and Nuno was so kind and helpful. He shared many pieces of valuable information and really took the time to help us get to experience the area. Each stop was lovely. After taking many full day tours across the world, I would highly recommend this tour and Nuno.

Tiago was an excellent guide. He was friendly, fun and was very knowledgeable about the Duoro Valley. He also gave us great recommendations for things to do and places to eat in Porto. Lunch was a fantastic experience in a quaint little village and we also loved the wine tasting experience. Fantastic trip that I highly recommend!

The entire day was outstanding despite the dreary weather. Paulo our guide was great - friendly, funny, informative and kind. Highlight of the tour was definitely lunch! We were treated like royalty indeed. Well worth the time and money.

From start to finish this well structured tour was an excellent introduction to the beautiful Douro valley. Our guide/driver, Joao, was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly. There wasn’t a part of the day that failed to impress - the stunning scenery, the wine tasting “breakfast” at the Quinta Seara d’Ordens vineyard, the boat trip along the Douro and the delicious traditional Portuguese lunch (with more wine!) in a quiet hillside village. Joao went out of his way to ensure that we got the most out of our day, adding in a visit to the picturesque town of Amarante on the way back to Porto.
I would highly recommend this tour!

We had a wonderful day with Andre. He worked so hard to make sure every moment of our day was enjoyable. He was at our hotel promptly making sure our seating and environment were comfortable. While driving to the Douro valley, Andre educated us about the region and why it’s a spectacular wine producer. We stopped for wine/port tastings as well as lunch at a lovely authentic restaurant run by a remarkable woman and her family/friends. Andre checked in frequently to assess how we enjoyed every activity we did. He secured outdoor seating for us on the river cruise (which was very crowded when we arrived), we greatly appreciated his efforts. When traveling, the connections and memories we make are invaluable to my husband and myself. We are grateful for our day in the Douro valley with Andre. Thank you!

Andrea was a wonderful tour guide. We enjoyed the wine tasting in the Douro Valley, the lunch and the river cruise. She was very personable and knowledgeable. It was worth the expense to not worry about wine tasting and driving. Beautiful part of Portugal
