What To Expect
The Kiwi Birdlife Park, a 5-acre (2-hectare) wildlife park conveniently located in central Queenstown, offers a family-friendly experience. With your all-day admission ticket, explore the park at your own pace and make use of a complimentary audio tour to learn about the attractions.
At the New Zealand Conservation Show, held twice daily in an outdoor area enclosed in netting, birds like the kakariki (a type of parakeet) and the kereru, or New Zealand pigeon, can fly free. You can also get an up-close look at birds of prey, and learn about pateke (a type of duck), buff weka (a flightless bird) and Antipodes Island parakeets.
Head to the Tuatara Encounter, where you’ll come in contact with a prehistoric lizard that is sometimes referred to as a living dinosaur.
Step into specially designed nocturnal enclosures for optimal viewing of kiwi birds, New Zealand’s national bird. Witness kiwi feedings and learn about the flightless birds’ underground burrows where they prefer to sleep during daylight hours.
Take a forest walk past trout-filled streams and hear about the park’s conservation efforts, which include rehabilitation of injured wildlife and the breeding of kiwis for release in the wild.

If you want to see a kiwi bird, then this is the place to go. Well-maintained park, several programs included in admission and a large night-vision building that beautifully houses four kiwi. We saw them all!
REAL Kiwis!!!
Lauren_L, Mar 2024
I loved seeing all the birds in real life, especially the kiwis who I could have watched for hours as they are hilarious. The paths are a bit steep in some places so harder for people with mobility issues but great for families with kids. I also love supporting something which helps to preserve endangered wildlife. Keep up the good work!
Mediocre

The kiwi was very hard to see considering the dark background we had to view it. They are doing construction to add more room for the conservation talks.
We saw some kiwi!

It was wonderful to see kiwi and learn about the conservation being undertaken. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Must do when in queenstown

Loved our visit to kiwi park. Got to learn all about local endangered species and how everyone can play a part in protecting the local ecosystem. And of course saw lots of kiwi which was incredible
Great environment for New Zealand’s natives !

The Kiwi Park is an environmentally sensitive and responsible habitat for several birds native to New Zealand. The first 50 guests received tokens allowing them to be in the Kiwi House with the naturalist.
We got there early because we didn’t know if there would be a queue, which there was not. We had a little trouble with the signage and weren’t sure where to go from the visitor center.
We did make it to the Kiwi House before 10:00 which is the only time to really see kiwis. We were probably in the house a half an hour before we adjusted to the dark. Then we really could see the kiwis! Holy cats!!! These birds are remarkable. It was so enlightening!
The rest of the park was interesting and included more than animals which I thought was insightful. We totally enjoyed the park.
Lovely visit to Kiwi Park

Our family visited Kiwi Park Queenstown on 20Dec2023. It was a lovely experience. We saw Kiwi actively searching for food in the dark room (Kiwi Encouter) and learned about the program to save young Kiwi and then to release them back in to the wild when they reach adult age. There are many other bird species we met in the park as well. It was very interesting and knowledgeable for our 3 children age between 11-16.
One of the best places to see kiwi

If you want to see kiwi birds, this is one of the best places in the country to see them. I recommend timing your visit to start with the conservation show, which is a great introduction to all the work the Kiwi Park is doing. From there, you can easily make your way to the kiwi encounter without rushing past the other birds. There's four kiwis at the park right now—very active hunting for food during the show, which was awesome to see.
Awesome

Finally saw our first kiwi! The conservation show was awesome staff were extremely knowledgeable and kids loved meeting some of the animals on show.
Good fun

Really educational and fun. Don't let the naysayers discourage you from coming. The audio guide was good, and the kiwis are easy to spot after getting your eyes accustomed to the dark. Great conservation work done at the park and also enjoyed both the Kiwi encounter and the show
Wonderful.

Really loved seeing the kiwis and hearing them. Didn't realize they were so verbal. But also thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of the other birds in the park. The honey tasting was a nice little bonus

Not the best experience. When we arrived, the reception staff told us to join one of the encounter experiences, but upon entering the pavilion, the staff member conducting the show, quite aggressively told us to take a seat, even though there were none, so we had to sit on the floor and couldn’t see the show.
Worth checking out!

My husband and I loved walking around and learning about New Zealand birds! Just a heads up the ticket is good for 3 days apparently! We had purchased this ticket the same day we did Roy’s peak and unfortunately ran out of time to make it to the bird park. When we went the following day the staff told us our tickets were still good so we didn’t have to repurchase them. It was an amazing experience! Definitely recommend timing it so you can watch both shows! It’s definitely worth the time to check out the park and the shows!!

Excellent presentation of the wild-life in and around Queenstown. The Kiwi's themselves are hardly visible in the gloomy light of their houses - due to the fact that they are nocturnal. Lovely park but quite a bit of walking involved for anybody with mobility problems.
