One of the best places to see kiwi

If you want to see kiwi birds, this is one of the best places in the country to see them. I recommend timing your visit to start with the conservation show, which is a great introduction to all the work the Kiwi Park is doing. From there, you can easily make your way to the kiwi encounter without rushing past the other birds. There's four kiwis at the park right now—very active hunting for food during the show, which was awesome to see.

Kiwi Park is awesome

Finally saw our first kiwi! The conservation show was awesome staff were extremely knowledgeable and kids loved meeting some of the animals on show.

Good fun

Really educational and fun. Don't let the naysayers discourage you from coming. The audio guide was good, and the kiwis are easy to spot after getting your eyes accustomed to the dark. Great conservation work done at the park and also enjoyed both the Kiwi encounter and the show

Worth checking out!

My husband and I loved walking around and learning about New Zealand birds! Just a heads up the ticket is good for 3 days apparently! We had purchased this ticket the same day we did Roy’s peak and unfortunately ran out of time to make it to the bird park. When we went the following day the staff told us our tickets were still good so we didn’t have to repurchase them. It was an amazing experience! Definitely recommend timing it so you can watch both shows! It’s definitely worth the time to check out the park and the shows!!
