The driver met with us on time at the Cruise Port and returned us on time. Initially he did not introduce himself but instead went on to outline rules governing the trip in an aggressive manner. It’s only after some confrontational situations with him and other passengers that the situation improved.

Our driver/ tour guides had minimal English, but played a short tape, explaining sights we would be seeing. Two members of group arrived a half hour late group one break, and the Driver did post have the contact info for anyone. I suggest there needs to be information communicated concerning this problem. We lost time on our tour, plus frustration waiting the half hour.

Hop on hop off highlights of Rome

Surprised what a great tour for price this was. Picked up at the port. Returned to the port. The port is 1 hour outside Rome We were driven all around Rome in small passenger van a total of 7. We hit Saint Peter’s Basilica, the Coliseum , Navona Square, The Pantheon, Venezia Square, Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. We were dropped at each spot very close to the attraction and given time to wander. Note for Coliseum you only walk around it you do not get to go in. You need separate ticket. Lines were long and inside was minimum of 90 minutes. The Pantheon also needs a ticket to go in 5 euros. It was raining, a holiday and line was long. Tour was 8 hours. We even got great pizza. Driver Fabrizio knew how to navigate Rome. Please note he is driver not a tour guide. They play a pre recoded narrative to tell you about where you are going.. Was very pleased to see so many highlights of Rome

The tour was cancelled by the operator and I did not get the email until the day of the excursion. Terribly disappointing and poor customer service. I know sometimes things happen outside out control but you should have done something to make it right. It's your name associated with the tour not xyz tour company.

Excellent shore excursion for Rome highlights

This is not a guided tour, hence less pricy. Our driver's driving skills and knowledge of Rome are outstanding. He could talk a little more and be more friendly. No introductions and mostly silent. He did have audio tapes introducing the site prior to each stop. We had to find good bathroom stops from other guides we ran into. He suggested that we buy something in a store and visit their bathrooms. Not our preference though. Overall, we were able to have brief visits at key sites within a short time that fit our cruise schedule. Highly recommend this tour for a shore excursion that hits the highlights. Good value and use of our time!

Too little time to see anything.

Taking into account that we were on a cruise ship and had to drive almost two hours to get to Rome, this excursion has too many stops in a very short time period, therefore not really allowing us to see much of anything. For example, the stop at the Colosseum was 40 minutes, by the time we got down to the Colosseum from where the driver stopped, we had maybe 15 minutes to walk around and take pictures, and given the number of tourists in Rome, the experience was not great. It would be best if we visited less Major sites and had more time in each of them. Also, it did not help that our driver, we understand he was not a guide, was not very knowledgeable, very nice man, not Italian.

Not an Excursion; Basically Just a Driver

Turns out this was nothing more than a hop on/hop off trip to our hotel in Rome. A tape was played before we arrived at each stop, but most people forgot what was said by the time we approached the site. Driver didn't add any additional details while we were driving; in fact, he barely spoke at all (he was polite, however). Driver wasn't a tour guide; just a van driver. Very disappointing.

Rome on a speed date!

This was seeing Rome on a speed date. The small van allowed us to get up close to the attractions so limited walking. We saw all the major attractions but only have limited time at each to ensure we fitted them all in. The guide didnt seem to understand english very well but the other passengers that spoke german had a private narrated tour by the driver which made it difficult to feel like we got the full history or any other points of interest. I understand its a small group tour but very difficult when there is different languages onboard and english isnt main

Price worth the transportation

another 4 people and 2 kids were 40 minutes late so the Pantheon was cut out, and it was Not a tour. it was a driver taking you places and pointing you in the right direction to see attractions and meeting you back at each place. we tried to listen to a CD in the car with other talking people as you drove for attraction info. the drive did add commentary while driving. I would do it again just for ride into Rome and to hit locations for this price but I would not call this a guided tour.

This excursion worked out better than expected for 6 family members travelling together. Rather than being a part of huge crowd there were only 8 of us in a mini van and the whole experience was amazing. The tour guide was very professional and courteous and covered lots of major sights. Apart from the steep price, we have no complaints.

Great time, just what we wanted because of our limited time. Car was at our ship as promised and the driver, Pablo, was awesome, well informed and could drive those crazy streets with skill. We had a full car(8). I thought this was well priced and a good value. This is a "quick hit" tour perfect for limited time (like a cruise) and gave us several options for a return trip where we could explore in more depth and arrange entry to some of the ruins. We saw all the big sites with plenty of time to walk around and take pictures. We had good running commentary on interesting tidbits and general information. Well worth the price.

Basically a driver from place to place, not a tour guide.

We had Flavia as our driver for the day. She was skilled at maneuvering the streets of Rome. However, she was not at all personable. She did not share any information herself, rather simple played recordings of the places we stopped at. She was also often on her phone texting or talking. The places we visited were wonderful, but the guide/driver was not. I would guess your experience will greatly depend on the driver you get. Hopefully it is not Flavia.

The driver Paola was very friendly and knowledgeable. We got to see the best of Rome in a day and was a great tour. The longer tour of Rome was already sold out, we had less time on this tour, maybe Viator should add more tours for 9 hours for their clients.
