AVOID AVOID this tour. The driver never turned up like the some of the other reviews said. They are so unreliable. We were on a cruise and only there for one day and had a plan for the day and that got ruined. All other tours were booked out so we were left with nothing to do.

The driver never showed 7:0 after 1 1/2hrs in the cold. Viator found another driver Emanuele Fustino 0039 347 51 37 911 email efustaino@gmail.com. glad the 1st driver didn't come as Emanuel by far gave us a dream day in Rome. Have been to Rome 3 other times....best tour guide award should be given! He cared, he was thoughtful, informative and an amazing driver.

Driver arrived 1.5 hrs late, did not have good English skills and then refused to take us to locations and dropped back at ship at 4:30pm, cutting the 9 hr booked period down to 7 hrs.

I’m only giving 3 stars because the company forgot to tell the driver to pick us up from the cruise port. Once Emmanuel, our driver received the text, he picked us up within 10 mins, but he was an hour late already. Nevertheless, Emmanuel was great! Showed us a lot of Rome within 1 day! We visited a lot of places that the tour bus can’t go to. Since we have a private van, we took pictures at our own time, and he parked really close to the sites so we don’t have to walk too far! I highly recommend Emmanuel to give you a tour of Rome and he’s very knowledgeable. I don’t recommend going with this company though. They respond so slow, only text. I asked for a phone number to call them and they didn’t give me any. Just said to text in Whats App. And Sarah did not inform the driver to pick us up!

Georgio provided a terrific experience for our 9 hour travels through Rome. He was very knowledgeable and personable getting us close to the attractions. He also added a couple of stops we did not know about that enhanced the trip. Would definitely use him again.

I booked this tour for our group because we wanted to see the Colosseum and other wonderful spots in Rome. Davide was our driver. Because it's a private tour you can pick what you'd like to see. Our Colosseum tickets were for 1PM that we purchased on Get Your Guide, so we decided to see the Vatican first. What a wonderful experience standing in St. Peters Square listening to the choir singing on the steps of the Vatican. We hung around there for a while snapping photos and taking it all in. Next we went to lunch at a great little resturant nearby and had delicious pizza. Then Davide took us to the meeting point to pick up our tickets for the Colosseum. Unfortunately, the ticket person put our time at 3:30 when it should have been 1PM. As a result, we were not able to see the Colosseum from the inside (not our driver's fault) because we had to leave at 4PM in order to get back to our ship in time. We were able to see it from the outside only, but it was still spectacular. The other problem was that we didn't know where we were going after Davida dropped us off. We wanted to see the Roman Forum (we think we walked by it), Pallatine Hill or the Trevi Fountain, but we had no one to guide us. The map we were given by the ticket person at the meeting point was so tiny we couldn't make out where anything was! And my husband has no trouble getting around normally - and especially with a map, but this one was useless. So we spent a lot of time wandering around trying to find things. I wish that our driver could have directed us better and maybe even gone with us because we probably would have had a better time and had been able to see a lot more of Rome.

Unprepared Driver, Private Van allowed us see A LOT of Rome

This was an incredible experience-there are so many amazing things to see in Rome! With a private car, we were able to create our own schedule to fit our family's needs. We filled our day very full. We knew we would only have 1 day in Rome and we wanted to make the most of it. We knew this meant an early, on-time start and that we would need to make our stops quick. We made sure that all 15 of our family members were ready and at the meeting location 15 minutes before the driver was scheduled to arrive. Our driver arrived at our meeting location 20 minutes late and then on the way to our first stop had to stop and get gas. This was very frustrating to us as it meant that we would not have the time to see all the things that we wanted to see (we had to be back at a specific time to catch our cruise ship). The reservation description was very clear that our driver would speak English. When he arrived he informed us that he only speaks a little English. Luckily someone in our group spoke Spanish and the driver also spoke Spanish. If we had not had someone that spoke Spanish we would not have been able to see all the things we wanted to see. Our driver was knowledgeable about where to drive and where to drop us off and pick us up for the attractions we wanted to see. He was polite and the van was clean and comfortable. Our driver got us back to our cruise port on time so that we did not miss our cruise. We got to see most of the things we wanted to see, but not all of them. We were very rushed at several of the stops due to the late start.

1 day in Rome

My husband and I used the private car service from Civitavecchia to Rome. Since we were only in Rome for the day (we were on a cruise so we had a strict timeline) and had a list of things we wanted to see not to mention Vatican tour tickets for a specific time, hiring a private car seemed like the best way and it paid off. Our driver Emanuele was incredible and we were able to see everything on our list and more.There is a huge plus to using this car service too, this service is allowed down roads ( like where the Trevi Fountain is located and several cathedrals ) which are only opened to resident and businesses saving a lot of time. If you can I would highly recommend requesting Emanuele he went above and beyond.

Our guide Davide picked us up exactly as planned at the foot of the gangway and on time. We had a great day, taking in stops to see panoramic views of Rome. The main part of the day was really well structured, taking us to the Vatican, then driving to several stops around the city where we could walk short distances to take in whichever sights we wanted. Ours included Victor Emmanuel memorial, the colosseum, Trevi fountain, Spanish steps. We took Davide’s recommendation for lunch which was superb in a reasonably priced typical Italian restaurant. Squeezed in time for a coffee and everything went very smoothly. I would highly recommend this tour, we relied on our guide’s suggestions on timings and locations and were not disappointed in any way.

We saw but didn't conquer

This was a last minute booking and I am grateful that it was available to us. There is oh-so-much to do and see in Rome that truly a cruise excursion doesn't quite capture it. However I feel our group could have been better directed in having a fuller experience. We were advised to start later in the morning (9am) rather than at our gangway time (7:30am) as it would be busy then. We came to realize that was precious time lost. We ended up rushing through only 3 sites in Rome- Colosseum, Spanish steps and Trevi fountain. All done within 2.5 hours, no time to go inside Colosseum at all, then spent 10 mins each at the other 2 sites. We didn't even see the other listed items on the itinerary. This was done so we could catch the tour we booked externally through them, to see the Vatican museum and Sistine Chapel. The tour was so long (2.5 hours) and left little time to see the Basilica. As well the driver who is also supposed to be somewhat of a guide didn't give us all too much information as we zoomed past sites. Like I said, grateful it happened, but the quality of this tour unfortunately wasn't as good for us.

Great way to see as much of Rome as possible in a single day!

We had one day in Rome and wanted to see as much as possible. This was the perfect way to do it. Our guide had a small comfortable mecedes van and had a pass to enter locations where large tour buses could not go. Note that if you want to see the Sistine Chapel you will likely need to pay about 30 euro a person to skip the line.

Amazing experience in Rome

We had Marco as our driver. He was a such a great person. He whatsapped me once I confirmed this activity like a month ago. He replied all my questions and concerns quickly all the time. He waited for us 10 mins before our meeting time. The mini bus was also great. We had 14 of us and it fits us perfectly and very comfortably. Marco tried his best to bring us all around and even when we were confused where is the vatican museum exit, he came back to us quickly without any complains. He then drove us to St. Peter's entrance as well. I hired other private driver before and I say Marco is really one of the best one.

Driver was on time. Very nice man and he showed us all around Rome. Recommended a great restaurant which was the best food I had in Italy and Croatia. The only negative is that he spoke limited English and was hard to understand. He is taking English classes in the fall so I am sure he will be able to communicate better.

A Remarkable Rome Experience
